Larry, Darrell, and Darrell.
slackermonkey 01-18-2005, 12:26 AM I wouldn't label Phoebe from Friends as an idiot. Sure, she's ditzy and offbeat, but she's still a lot smarter than most people give her credit for.
You can add Coach and Woody from Cheers to the list as well.
Belair 01-18-2005, 01:36 AM Gilligan from Gilligan's Island, and Kel from Kenan and Kel.

spunkygirl 01-19-2005, 01:30 AM I agree about Eric but not about Shawn
Why? Shawn was dumber than Eric in the first 5 seasons ;) Remember Shawn's "thinking cramps"?

Superstar 01-30-2005, 04:34 AM I wouldn't label Phoebe from Friends as an idiot. Sure, she's ditzy and offbeat, but she's still a lot smarter than most people give her credit for.
You can add Coach and Woody from Cheers to the list as well.
Neither would I. Shes ditzy but shes defintitely not an idiot
slackermonkey 01-30-2005, 05:34 AM Exactly. She actually leans more toward being one of the smarter ones of the group.

Sara/Too close for Comfort
Zebra 3 02-12-2005, 04:07 PM Archie Bunker-All In the Family
J.J. Evans-Good Times
I never considered these two characters as idiots. Archie was mostly ignorant, but capable of learning and JJ was a talented artist. That said, my top pick is The Beverly Hillbillies' Jethro Bodine.
Belair 02-12-2005, 05:16 PM My all time favourite tv idiot is Homer Simpson
MariposaLKB 02-12-2005, 06:14 PM I agree with quite a few here--Lenny and Squiggy, Vera, Chrissy, Homer, Kelso, and Horshack. How about Barbarino too?
And if we are talking ignorance a la Archie Bunker rather than stupidity, I would have to say my all-time favorite is Ed Brown of "Chico and the Man"! He was a bigot similar to Archie, though against Mexicans (one of his closest friends was the black garbageman Louie, played by Scatman Crothers). Also like Archie Bunker, though, Ed had his consciousness raised concerning his major prejudice over the course of the show, thanx to Chico (the late, great Freddie Prinze)--that was the whole premise. But he did remain somewhat biased against women, as shown by his interactions with landlady Della (Della Reese, who was probably brought onto the show cuz Chico and Ed no longer fought much LOL!) in the later years of the series.
