Me and my husband got into a heated argument over what Theo was diagnosed with on the show. I told him it was DYSLEXIA but he insists that it's not and he yelled at me! Does anyone remember this certain episode? I do and I knew I thought I knew for sure but now he has me wondering since he got so freaked out about it.

Theo definitely had dyslexia. Bill Cosby modeled the character after his own son, Ennis, who was also dyslexic.

I seem to remember them saying on a certain episode that it was dyslexia, but they often just referred to it as a learning disorder. I don't know much about the disorder, but wouldn't it be hard for a person to have it all through school and not be diagnosed until high school? I was just wondering about that.

Henry Winkler (The Fonz) has dyslexia and he didn't learn he had it until well after he was out of high school. Dyslexia (http://www.howstuffworks.com/question666.htm) is often referred to as a life-long learning disorder and it's not uncommon for it to be diagnosed in high school or college students or in some cases even adults.

Theo never did well back in High School either, because he didn't get the help he needed. It wasn't until he was in college, that he finally was diagnosed and got help, so his grades could improve.
