Who is your favorite Grandpa?

I have to go for Al Lewis, but i also think Howard Morton pulled the role off very well too...both really did grab the concept of what Grandpa was all about and make it there own :)

Al Lewis all the way. I'm sure if the sitcom were done 20 years later, Grampa would have been even better. Howard Morton had the advantage of the lesser censorship that the original show had to endure.

Al Lewis if he was able would have made Grampa out to be a dirty old man, with sarcasm and wit. I mean Al Lewis tried to show that his Grampa enjoyed the ladies by openly reading Playghoul magazine (a nod to Playboy), and in a TBS special pictured himself dancing with three 20 something women in bikinis.

BTW He wasn't just acting Grampa, for those of us who lived in NYC, he was Grampa. Wanted to even run as govenor under the name Grampa.

I think the term "dirty old man" is a little extreme for such a well loved character played by two terrific actors lol.

Neither Grandpa were portrayed in such a way (thank God) despite the fact there may have been reference to any particluar ficticious glossy or the fact that they enjoyed the company of women. :)

I dont think Grandpa's character would have went that way despite what era it was as it would not have suited. Howard's Grandpa was a little more verbal with his sarcasm, which was part of the character and part of what I enjoyed about him.
