In the past i have said there was a inconsistency in the 1975 opening credits because george and louise were riding in a cab instead of a limo. But in the pilot, George and Louise did leave queens in a limo itr was just off screen and they do arrive at their manhattan apt in the pilot. Now if Louise and George had left their house in queens at the end of the episode and it was carried over into the first episode of the Jeffersons then there could be a debate on whether it was a inconsisitency. So now that we know that, that creates another mystery which is
Where were George and Louise coming from in the Opening Credits?-lol

I would think that the opening credits for years 1 and 2 are not part of the "reality" of the show's story but just to show a casual viewer that these people moved from somewhere, the wife was sad, the husband was enthusiastic, the wife cheers up when she sees the skyline and the sights and they get out of the taxi and go inside very enthusiastically and the husband's strut gives us a synopsis of his personality. If you overanalyze it too much you'd wonder who that doorman is (for years I just assumed it was Ralph until I looked closer). More or less the show stands on its own and if you never saw or heard of All in the Family you'd have no trouble getting into this series the way it was presented.
