Janet: What? Chrissy, honey, what, is so all-fire important? I could hear you all the way down the hall...

Chrissy: [stops jumping up and down] I won a contest! At one of our office raffles!

Ok, wait it's actually your turn to post. Look back at page 9, and Jack was the last one to say anything.

Janet knew time must have past, but she couldn't swear to it. The words were so sweet, sweeter then she could have ever imagined. "I'm glad you finally said it. Because I was going to have to tell you. Before today, I mean."

Jack smiled gently. "I think maybe you already did. I just never listened."

"I'm sorry I never told you this before. It's just that..I thought that you didn't love me back, and if I told you I loved you, I was afraid of you laughing in my face." He looked down at the floor then sighed. His mind ran back to times when they were alone inside the house plenty of times, and he could have said something. But he always held his tongue.

"But Janet..I really love you. More than life itself." He smiled as he saw a tear run down her cheek, and he brushed it away. He wrapped his arms around her waist, so he could give her a sweet and soft kiss.

Though she was crying, all the world melted away as Jack's lips touched hers. Moaning softly, she allowed his gently probing tongue to enter her mouth. She felt herself being backed into the wall, but Janet couldn't of cared less. Leaving her lips, he began to rain kisses down the nape of her neck, causing her to groan in pleasure. "Mmmm...Jack."

He stopped for only a few seconds to peer deeply into her eyes. "I love you."

"Love you, too," she mumbled, biting her lower lip as his hands roamed her body. "Oh...you better quit that."

"Do you want me to?"

"No," she admitted, her resolve weakening. She knew she was treading on dangerous territory, but it felt so good, she never wanted the moment to end. Suddenly, though, she knew her resolve would weaken more, and she gently but firmly pushed him off her. "Jack! God...please stop." She sighed, noticing the hurt on his face. "Sweetie, I don't want you to stop. Believe me with everything I am, I don't. But we have to. I'm...we can't have our first time like this."

He backed away an inch, trying to give her some space to breathe. "I'm sorry." He stuffed his hands in his pocket, looking down at the ground. He sighed, hoping that she wasn't mad at him or anything. But, what she said what was true. Jack didn't want their first time to be like that either. But he couldn't help himself, and he knew that Janet was enjoying it too.

"Just tell me to stop, and I will."

"You know what you CAN do?"

"Anything, love."

"Take me on a date. Somewhere. Anywhere. I don't care."

"Anywhere, huh?" Jack smirked over at her, but she gave him a look meaning anywhere except the bedroom. Of course, he knew that she didn't want to have their relationship go too fast. He bit his lower lip, trying to think of a good place. A few places popped up, and he finally found the perfect date. He smiled over at her.

"Alright, how about tonight then?"

"Sure..."

"Ok, how about you change into something, and then we'll leave ok?" He kissed her on the cheek, and they both went into their own rooms to change for their roomantic date.

About half an hour later, Janet was finally ready. She didn't know where they were going, and that severly hindered her outfit choices, but she finally settled on charcoal gray trousers with an ice blue faux-wrap blouse. Select jewlery and kitten heels completed the look. "Jack!" she called as he peered through the door, and immediately took her in his arms and kissed her so long and so hard she almost forgot to breathe. She giggled. "I think this defeats the purpose of a date."

Jack reluctantly let her go, as they walked hand in hand to the car. "Janet Wood, this is going to be your most perfect date ever."

Janet smiled as Jack opened the door for her. She got inside the covertable. She had gotten so use to the fact that they actually owned a good car. All of them finally had enough money to pitch in to get the car. Jack walked over to his side of the car, and they drove off.

"Keep your eyes closed sweetie!" He smiled, covering her eyes again as she tried to peek a little bit, trying to figure out where they were heading. They had been driving around for 20 minutes, and Janet was getting more and more impatient by the minute.

"Alright, open your eyes." He told her, as soon as they got out of the car. As she opened her eyes, she found themselves standing on a private beach, obviously that Jack paid for to be there for the day. Sitting down softly on the sand, there was a large blanket with some food. Since it was later in the afternoon, they got to the beach just in time to catch the sunset. Janet knew though that Jack planned everything. The sky was starting to get a little red tint in it. They both walked over and sat down on the blanket. Jack looked over at Janet.

"You're so beautiful Janet. I can't believe this is all happening. It's perfect."

Janet smiled back up at him, sighing happily as she nestled into his arms. "I love you," she mumbled softly, her head against his chest. "And tha scares me, because I'm - I'm in too deep. I've never felt this way, Jack. About anyone."

"Hey..." he whispered, titling her chin upwards. "Don't be afraid, hon. I'll never intentionally hurt you. You know that, right?"

"Uh-uh."

"Good," was all he said before he took her in his arms, kissing her with such passion that she had to cling onto his shirt. Somewhere in the back of his mind was the concience that told him she had stopped him before, but he didn't care. They both knew he'd stop immediately if she wanted him to, but Jack just wanted to see how far they wanted to go. Rolling her onto her back and gently pinning her to the blankets, he kissed her with a fiery passion that she had never felt before.

"Mmmm," she whimpered, moaning softly as his mouth came in contact with hers, sending tingles up and down her spine. "Love - you."

"You're everything to me," he replied, carresing her cheek. "I won't ever do anything you're not ready for. Just let me know, okay?"

"I'll let you know when you get there." She said in a sexy voice, and Jack continued to kiss her all over. Both of them didn't seem to care about the date, or the food. All Janet cared about was that she was on a beautiful beach with the sunset going down, and Jack was right that kissing her and loving her. She never wanted the feeling to end. He started to rain kisses down her neck, then back to her mouth.

"Jack.." She knew that she was getting close to screaming as his hands reached up her shirt and played with her bra strap.

Raising her arms, she allowed him to pull the shirt off of her, exposing bare skin as he ran his hands up and down her back. Janet was tugging at his shirt, and Jack was fully on top of her, alternating between kissing her mouth and down her neck. "Mmm...sweetheart," she moaned in between kisses. His mouth ran down her body, and he could feel the muscles in her lower body begin to tense as he explored further south.

"Stop??"

She shook her head furiously, once again touching her lips to his. "Don't - you - dare." Pleasurable moans escaped her throat, and she knew she was treading on thin ice. She was dangerously close to experiencing ecstasy right then and there, and she had to shut her eyes to calm down. She was already squirming happily underneath him, and her groans were slowly turning into screams to desire. "Jack...get me in the car now. Not here. Car. I...I want you now."

"To the car it is."

They both smiled as Jack picked Janet up in one swoop, twirling her around a bit before walking to the car. His lips never left hers as he carried her to the convertable, leaving all of their stuff back at the beach. Neither of them could care less if the wind blew it away or anything. He gently laid her down on the backseat of the car, kissing her softly then more fiercely. They both knew that Janet was very close to screaming from pleasure, but Jack kept on kissing her anyway.

"I love you so much," he murmered softly, his hands already unbuttoning her pants and sliding them down her hips. "This is going to be perfect for you, all right? Just tell me, sweetheart. Tell me how you want this to be."

Janet only grabbed him tightly and lifted her face to his for another earth-shattering kiss. He rained soft kisses down her neck, sending shivers throughout her body. "You...now. My god, please!"

Jack smirked as he rained kisses down her neck. He knew that she couldn't take it anymore - that she needed him right there and then. But he know he couldn't. As much as he wanted to make love to her there, it just wasn't right. Sure, Jack was always the "player", but he was always old-fashioned. Once his mouth left hers, she whimpered, wanting more.

"I'm sorry Janet. We can't do this. Not here, at least. I want our first time to be perfect." He smiled, but he could see that she was hurt. She looked down and sighed. But, they weren't even engaged - yet. Jack smiled at the thought of him proporsing to Janet. Everything was going to be perfect, he already had it set in the back of his mind. But his attention came back to Janet, and the sadness in her eyes.

"You don't love me, do you?" She looked up at him, tears forming in her eyes.

"Honey no! I love you so much! I just want to wait a while, ok?" He smiled, wiping the tears away and he leaned in for another earth-shattering kiss.

She allowed his tongue to enter her mouth for a few moments, then pushed him away. At his questioning look, she smiled. "If we keep doing this, I'm never going to want to stop you."

Giving a low growl, he pulled her close. "I love you, Janet. I love you so much, but we just can't do this now. I'd love to make love to you here and now, but it wouldn't be perfect."

Janet moaned softly as his lips rained soft kisses down the nape of her neck. "I don't need perfect, sweetheart. I just need you."

"I know honey, but you are perfect. I want our first time to be perfect, and this is just too soon. I know that we both love each other, but can you just wait for a while? Please?"

He pulled away the kiss, not wanting to though. All he wanted to do was continue to kiss her until the sky was dark. But if he did, they both knew that they wouldn't stop. Instead, he pulled her closer to him, just hugging her tightly and cradling her. He kissed her on the cheek.

"I love you Janet. Don't ever forget that, ok? It's not that I don't love or anything."

She smiled, reluctantly leaving his warm embrace. "Trust me, hon, I'm not perfect. Call my parents and they'll tell you the same thing. But..I know. I know how you feel about me, and it's okay. Let's go home."

"You sure you want to?"

He looked over at her, and saw her nodding her head. He nodded and sighed, not knowing if he had hurt her or not. For him, it was hard to read girls' minds. He was no physic. He let her go and helped her climb over the front seat and he got out of the car, walking over to the sand to grab their things and the food. He got back in the car and in a matter of seconds, they were off.

But as they were driving home, Janet couldn't help but notice that his free hand was idly carresing her thigh. Slightly irritated, perhaps the tone of her voice was harsher than intended. "If you don't want to have sex with me, Jack Tripper, that's fine, but quit doing things like that."

"I'm sorry. I-I won't do that again." He quickly took his free hand off of her thigh, and placed it back on the steering wheel. He looked over at her though, and was lost in his thoughts. She was so beautiful, but her stare could just kill anyone. And he knew that he had caused her pain. But he didn't know that he would soon cause himself only pain as he totally forgot that his car was starting to veer to the left, and in seconds the car crashed into Jack's side of the car.

Janet screamed, but it was seconds too late as the approaching car plunged into theirs. The deep impact caused their precious new car to spin and veer off the road, where it tumbled down a steep ditch and landed upside-down with a deafening thud. And then everything went black.

Drama, again! Dun, dun, dun! I have to go for like..maybe 1 or 2 hours at the most. I'll be back though, and then I'll post. Oh by the way, we're just going to have Jack be seriously hurt, but Janet only left with a few bruises. Bye!

Finding Janet wouldn't be the problem, because not a moment had passed before she entered the room, running to his side and taking his limp hand. Even in his semi-concious state,he could see that her eyes were brimming with tears. He reached up with his good hand to wipe them away, but the pain made him stop. Maybe I shouldn't do that just yet.

"Oh, Jack!" Janet cried, standing over him and kissing his forehead gently. "You scared me so bad!" She tried to smile. "If you wanted me to tell you how much I love you and need you, you didn't need to do this!"

He smiled, idly tracing small circles in the smooth skin of her palm. "You. All I care about...you. Are you okay, love?"

Janet laughed, but tears trickled down her cheek. "You're insane! How can you worry about me when you're the one in bed?"

"Because I love you."

Those four simple words made her cry more, and she had to blink them back furiously. "I'm fine. I mean, not fine...I've got a couple of bruises that won't go away for awhile, and I know I'll be sore for about a week, but I'm good." She smiled seductively, leaning down so her soft breath tickled his ear. "When we get out of here, you'll just have to give me a massage."

Jack groaned. "Damn, woman, don't you know better than to do things like that when I can't evem move my legs and kiss you the way I'd like to?"

Janet only laughed. "What - you remember the accident, don't you?"

He nodded slightly. "I remember you raising holy hell when the paramedics said you couldn't ride in the ambulance."

"Hey! There was no way on earth I was leaving you. Jack Tripper, you are my world. I...I love you so much, and I know I'd die without you." Suddenly, the impact of his previous words hit. "Jack...just a minute ago...you were just being dramatic, right?"

He shook his head. "I wish. Janet, I...I can't feel my legs. Am I paralyzed?"

Janet suddenly stopped breathing. Well, she didn't really, but she swore to god she thought she did. It seemed like everything was just getting worse. She couldn't believe what she was hearing though. Paralyzed? No, Jack couldn't be. She tried to fight back her tears, trying to calm herself down by telling herself that this wasn't happening. No, Jack was just hurt a little, maybe his legs were sore or something. He just couldn't be paralyzed. But just as it was timed or something, a young doctor came walking in.

"Ah, you must be Mrs. Tripper." He smiled, and shook her head.

"Well, uh no. I'm just his girlfriend." She looked over at Jack, who gave her a weird look. It was one of those your-not-going-to-be-my-girlfriend-for-that-long look. She knew that soon enough, he might propose to her or something. She wanted to start a family with him. But she didn't know if she could just yet. They had to find out about his legs. "Um..doctor, why can't he feel his legs? Is he paralyzed?" She looked at them, tears started to fall down already, as if she already knew the answer.

"Well, we're not sure right now. There is a possibility he might be though."

It was a good thing a chair was there, because all of a sudden Janet felt like her legs were rubber. Dazed, she sank into the plush surface. This couldn't be happening. The doctors had to be wrong. Doctors were wrong all the time. "You're...you're saying that you THINK he's paralyzed, but you don't know the hell why? Isn't that your damn job?"

"Janet," Jack murmured, softly squuezing her hand. After all the years of knowing her, he was full aware of her wrath. Janet Wood could be feisty as hell when she was pissed of, and he could already see it starting. "Don't..."

"No! It's their JOB, Jack! He can't stand there and tell us 'I don't know why.' He needs to find out! He needs to fix it! That's what we pay them for, right? Damnit, earn your money and tell me how to make my boyfriend better!" Rant complete, she suddenly burst into tears and cried.

"Ms. Wood, we're trying everything we can to figure out if he's going to be paralyzed or not. We're already looking into it, so don't worry about it. We took a blood test so we'll find out soon." He nodded, and then turned to walk away. That was the only information he knew, and he didn't want to get the woman mad again.

"Janet..come here." His free hand directed her to come over. She quickly hugged him, though trying not to hurt him. His free hand wrapped around her tightly, not wanting to let go. The pain he was feeling in his body stinged everytime he tried to move. He winced a bit, trying to hold back the pain. "I love you so much. I'm so glad you're ok."

"Jack.." she whimpered.

He knew it was against all the rules, but he didn't care. He needed her just as badly as she needed him. "C'mere, love," he beckoned, allowing her to crawl on the bed beside him. He pulled her as close as he could without hurting either of them. Idly stroking her hair, he soothingly rubbed her back and spoke to her softly. "Hey...honey, shhh. I'm going to be okay. We're both going to be okay."

Eyes filled with tears, she glanced up at the man she loved. "Ho on earth can you say that?"

"Hey, trust me, ok? I'm going to be fine. And I'm going to get out of here, and we'll be together again." He smiled, caressing her cheek and kissing her on the lips. He was glad that no other doctors or nurses were there for the rest of the day, because in a few minutes - the two lovers fell asleep in each other's arms.

Instead of the incessant beeping of her alarm clock, Janet was awakened by a pair of warm and loving lips on hers. "Hey," Jack whispered.

"Jack....my head hurts. I must have hit it harder than I thought. And my...I think I broke my wrist"

"What? Are you sure?"

Jack quickly panicked, not knowing what to do. Sure her injuries weren't as bad as his, but he was more concerned about her then himself or his health. He quickly pushed the call button for someone to come to his room if he needed something, and in a few minutes a nurse came in. She looked at them, and shook her head, but was still smiling at them. She gave Jack a questioning look.

"Janet thinks she broke her wrist, and she might have a concusion." He started to breathe heavily, becoming quite nervous. He didn't know if Janet would be ok. He whimpered a bit as Janet had to get up and leave his embrace. After a number of begging and complaints, Janet was finally allowed to have a bed for her be put in Jack's room, so they wouldn't be apart.

"Honey..I hope you're ok." He looked over at her on his left, reaching his hand out for her. Automatically, she grabbed his hand, the only thing she could have of him for the moment. He could tell from a few feet that she was already crying.

"Oh....don't you do that. You can't start doing that, all right?" he said. "Please. You know I hate it when you cry. You'll be fine. I promised you, and I don't break promises, remember?"

Despite the increasing throbbing in her skull and wrist, Janet managed a small smile. "I know...you're so great. Damn, does no one in this place have Advil?" As if one cue, a nurse entered the room, and re-entered a few moments later with two small pills and water, which Janet gratefully gulped down. "Oh, that's better."

"I'm glad you're feeling better already." He smiled, rubbing her hand soothingly. She smiled, looking over at him. She shook her head, and suddenly her smile was replaced with a frown.

"Why did you have to get hurt? Jack, I'm sorry about how I was acting in the car.." She sighed, and a tear fell down her cheek. Luckily, Jack didn't notice it, but he could tell that she was sad.

"Hey, it's ok honey. God, this hurts so bad.." He winced again, closing his eyes. He started to breathe a little heavily, trying to control his pain - but it didn't work. The worst part was that he couldn't even move his legs, or his right arm. He felt like he was being torn into peices. Suddenly, the door opened to reveal the doctor. He had on his plain, happy face. But this time it was a little different than usual. He walked over in between the two beds.

"Well, we have some news about Jack. He is paralyzed." He could see the shocked look on their faces. But he quickly added something before Janet was about to burst in tears, or have a heartattack.

"But, he'll only be paralyzed for a few months."

"Oh, and that's supposed to make everything better?" she snapped, and Jack sighed, reaching over to take her hand, ignoring his body's extreme protest to tell him otherwise. He knew her well, even better than she'd care to admit, and he knew that it was easier for her to get angry them to think about what she was afraid of losing.

"Hey...sweetie, it'll be fine. A few months of physical therapy and I'll be good as new. I promise."

"No, nothing will be ok again. You're paralyzed, god damnit. You know how much that hurts me to say that?" She turned her head away from him, not wanting to show him the tears that were falling down her cheeks. She just wouldn't take the fact that the man she loved was paralyzed. And she didn't care if it was only for a short time. She just hated the fact that he was permantly hurt, and he couldn't move his legs. She turned to face him again after a few seconds.

"Jack, this is all my fault. I was mad at you because you wouldn't have sex with me. A-And now you're hurt." Looking down at the ground, she started to break out in sobs. He sighed, and his hand grabbed on the side of her bed, pulling his bed closer to hers so that they were both touching each other. His finger lifted up her chin so that he could look into her eyes.

"Janet, don't go blaming yourself. It's not your fault, it's mine. You know I wasn't paying attention to what was happening." In seconds, Jack took her in his one arm, and kissed her tenderly on the head.

"I don't care," she whimpered, burying her face in his chest. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have yelled. I - I was yelling right before the car hit. If you weren't trying to make everyting okay with us, we wouldn't be here right now."

"Hey..." he murmured softly, pulling her as close to him as he could. "Hey, Janet...sweetie, listen to me, okay? It was that other guy's fault. Only his, okay? Not yours. I love you, baby. You're the best thing that ever happened to me. And as for the sex thing....we both kow that you would've regretted it the next morning."

"No, I wouldn't."

"Well, I promise you that once I'm all better, we can do anything you want." He whispered into her ear, and it sent shivers going down her spine. She looked at him and smiled, kissing him on the lips that both of them wanted for a while. But unfortunately, the doctor came walking in the door, causing them to end the kiss.

"Hey, behave you two." He smiled at them, trying to joke around.

Jack broke the kiss, but still had his arm around her waist. "Sorry doc, I couldn't keep my hand off her." He smiled, and winked over at Janet who couldn't help but giggle. The doctor smiled at both of them, but knew he had to get down to business.

"Jack, it's time for your physical therapy. We think that your legs are ready to get better." He nodded, exiting the door for a second, then coming back in with a wheelchair. He patted the seat and brought the chair over to his bed, where the doctor carried him to the seat. It made Jack mad, because he felt so helpless. He looked over at Janet, and gave her a sad smile - not wanting to leave her.

Weeks had passed, and Jack was steadily improving, albeit too slowly for his particular liking. His temper, though, hadn't changed a bit, and Janet had learned to stay out of his way when he returned after a grueling session. Driving home after the latest workout, they had gone five miles before he spoke to her. "Why?"

"You might want to be a little more specific."

"Why are you still here? I mean, why are you still with me?"

"That's stupid, Jack. Because I love you, damnit." As his suprised look, she gave a short laugh. "I can get just as pissed of as you. You know that. Honey, I love you. I love you whether your legs work or not. But....Jack, it's your spirit that you're letting down. That's what I care about. Crap," she whimpered softly as a tears trickled down her cheek.

"Janet, don't cry.." He looked over at her, wiping her tears away with his thumb. He wished that he had never caused him or Janet pain. It was ruining their life that Jack wanted to have with her. He sighed, looking down at the floor.

"It's kind of hard to keep my spirits up when I can't even move my legs. But just one look at you, and you make my day better."

Janet managed a smile, reaching over to grab his hand. "You're sweet."

He squeezed her fingers gently. "I love you." After a few moments of companiable silence, Jack spoke up again. "Sweetheart, you mind taking your hand off my thigh?"

Those words caused Janet to shriek, and lose split second control that she almost swerved off the road. "You....you can feel that?"

Jack's eyes suddenly grew wide, and a smile grew upon his face. He couldn't believe it for a second. He could actually feel part of his leg! He thought that his mind was just playing tricks with him - trying to make him think something that wasn't happening. His hand touched his thigh again, and his eyes and smile grew even wider. He could actually feel it.

"Janet!"

He screamed, as she excitedly pulled the car over on the side of the road, right by the beach. She screamed as well, just as excited as he was. He instantly took her in his arms - or his one arm. It still had a cast on, but he only had a couple more weeks until it came off. He couldn't believe he was getting better already. Sure it was hard, but the therapy really worked. He smothered her in fiery kisses. He pulled away breathless, and smiled at her. A tear almost fell down his cheek, out of happiness.

"I can feel my legs! God, I love you!"

"Mmm...love you too," she murmured as he pulled her closer, almost onto his lap. She suealed as he yanked her out of the car, picking her up and spinning her a few feet off the ground. "You really should get excited more often."

He laughed, then gew especially serious, grazing her cheeck with his forefinger. "I couldn't have ever done any of this without you, sweetheart. Thank you."

She smiled. "Perfectly all right."

"No. No, it's not. I was an ass to you these past weeks, and I don't know how you put up with me. I don't desrve all that you've given me, but, I promise you, baby, I'll make it up to you. When I'm 100%, I'll take you dancing, okay? Whatever you want, you'll get. I'll make the date absolutely perfect."

"I told you before, I don't need perfect. All I need is you." Her voice got lower. "And, you know, we really don't need to go anywhere to have a good time."

"I may just have to agree, Miss."

"I love you so much. You know, the second the doctors say I'm all better, I'll take you anywhere. Just name it. Wherever we go, I'm going to make love to you." He said, barely above a whisper. He smiled and pulled her closer and closer to him until they both couldn't breathe. He leaned in and kissed her passionately. He had waited weeks to kiss her again, because he had been so angry and stressed out.

Janet moaned softly, the feel of his mouth still present on hers. "Good deal. I'll hold you to that, love."

"But hey until then, why don't I take you out dancing tonight?"

He smiled and his good hand reached up to her face, caressing her cheek. He wanted to make everything up to her so bad, and dancing would be the perfect thing. Hell, he didn't even care if he still wasn't full better, and his one arm was still broken. He just wanted to be with her so bad. Pulling her closer, he leaned in a kissed her again.

"But hey until then, why don't I take you out dancing tonight?"

He smiled and his good hand reached up to her face, caressing her cheek. He wanted to make everything up to her so bad, and dancing would be the perfect thing. Hell, he didn't even care if he still wasn't full better, and his one arm was still broken. He just wanted to be with her so bad. Pulling her closer, he leaned in a kissed her again.

She smiled, gazing up at him with adoring eyes. "Why don't we go home and you can make me dinner? If you're a good boy, I might just make you dessert."

Janet sighed. "All right. It might be fun. And I get to dress up, which is always good."

Jack smiled at her, twirling her around for a few seconds. Her giggling stopped as soon as Jack's lips met hers. The kiss depended for a few moments, but then Janet finally pulled away with a smile on her face. Jack knew what she meant, and carried her all the way to the car, and they both drove back home.

"Wow..you look beautiful." Jack turned around as soon as he heard the bedroom door open to reveal a stunning Janet in a short red dress. He pulled the roses out from behind his back and gave them to Janet. He was rewarded with a sweet kiss on the lips. After a while, they both left the apartment and headed to the car. As soon as they got there, there was a short line to get inside the club - which surprised both of them since it was usually packed. Finally after thirty minutes, they got in.

Janet glanced around in shock. "Where on earth did you find this place?"

"Terri told me about it. Now....forget it. No more Terri. Tonight is all about us, miss."

"Good deal," she murmured softly, waiting eagerly for his mouth to crush upon hers. Sighing happily,she wrapped her arms around his neck as the swayed in tune to the music. An old familiar song began to play, and Janet sang quietly.

"I love you." He murmmered, caressing her cheek tenderly. As soon as the slow dance ended, a fast song came on. Jack smirked at Janet, and she knew what it meant. In a few seconds, they were already dancing to the beat, with Janet wrapped in Jack's arms.

"Hey there, beautiful." Four or more guys came up over to Janet, checking her out everywhere. The one guy who was obviously the head of the group, stepped up and was so close to her that they couldn't even breathe. As soon as Jack spotted them, he pulled Janet closer to him, showing them that she was his.

"Why don't you step back, ok? She's mine." Jack snarled, with his arm protectively around Janet's waist.

"Why don't we hear it from the little lady, huh?" The ringleader, who was drunk enough to set off alarms, made way closer, clasping an arm around Janet's waist and dragging her to him. "Seems like she wants me."

"Get your hands off her!" Jack lunged forward, but two of the big guy's lackey's held him back.

"Dude, we don't care what you want. We want her. And we ALWAYS get what we want." By that time, the leader was practically pushing Janet onto the dance floor, holding her tighter when she tried to squirm away. "Hey, calm down, b****. It'll be over soon." Janet began to whimper softly as the man's mouth crushed down on hers.

"Hey, you *******! I said get away from her!"

Jack screamed, trying to get away from the guys who were holding him back. He finally got away from punching both of the guys in the stomach, and he ran to the dance floor, grabbing Janet away and pushing her away from her own safety. Right after she was far away, all of the guys started to gang up around Jack, and Janet watched him helplessly. But Jack managed to get a few punches at them until they all shoved him up by a wall, with the drunken gang leader pulling out a gun from his jeans.

"Now, you better shut up or you're dead." Jack gulped, not knowing how he was going to get out of this mess. His breathing started to get heavy, and he was sweating all over. He prayed to god to help him out on this one, and obviously god had answered his prayer, because Janet yelled after them.

"Hey you big hunks! Over here!" She whistled and waved, catching all the of guy's attention. As soon as they turned their heads, Jack hit the gun out of the guys hands, and ran over to get Janet to make a run for it, both of them barely walking because they were so nervous. But unfortunately, Jack didn't make it all the way, and his body fell to the ground as the bullet went right into his back.

"Jack!" Janet yelled as she watched him hit the pavement. Dashing toward him, she didn't even stop to consider that the men would be back. Janet started to shake uncontrollably, her limbs trembling, her blood running cold as ice. “Jack?” she whimpered as her world fell to pieces with grief and fear. How could he be gone?

She called his name again and again, still hoping desperately that his eyes would open and he’d turn to her with a smile, but long minutes had passed and still he lay lifeless. As she cried over his body, images tore at her heart. His face when she confessed her love for him for the first time, the look in his eyes as he almost made love to her that night in the car; the fear as he had crashed into the other car.

Now he was dead.

How on earth could she go on without him? How in Heaven’s name was she supposed to commit his body to the cold ground, stand over his grave and let them lower him down and away from her forever? Could her legs ever carry her away from that plot of ground? Could she ever breathe or eat or sleep again while miles stood stark between them; her lying in their bed, the one that would now bare one painfully empty side and Simon in the cold ground, alone and terrified in the dark? She shook her head, weeping softly. “No…”

Reaching up to caress his still lustrous hair, she tugged the strands through her fingers and leaning over his face, kissed his cold lips with reverent tenderness. Her soul was nothing more than an excruciating ache as she considered never seeing his eyes again with their wonderful teasing light, or the smile that had thrilled and melted her heart for as long as she'd known him. It was impossible to accept.

Janet stood by Jack's motionless body until finally the ambulance and police came. The whole club was packed and and people were getting kicked out to let the police investigate. As soon as the ambulance came, they instantly picked Jack up and carried him to the stretcher and inside the ambulance. Janet quickly ran with them, and jumped inside the back of the truck, not wanting to leave Jack at any circumstances. She was still in shock, that she even had trouble getting up or even walking around. Watching helplessly as the paramedics were trying to shock him back to life, her hand touched his cold and pale face.

"I love you so much, Jack.." She whispered to him as they were trying to bring him back to life.

But after a few tries, they couldn't do anything else - but inform Janet that Jack would never come back.

((P.S. - We'll have him come back to life in the ambulance truck in a little bit.

Her world had officially ended, or at least that's how it would seem. How could she possibly even consider going on without him. Eating, sleeping, going to work, just living....nothing would be right. Nothing would ever be right without him. And it wasn't even the fact that Jack Tripper was the man that she loved, it was he fact that Jack Tripper was the man who had held her heart in the palm of his hand since the day they met. She could always count on him to make her lagh,make her smile, make even the crappiest day seem bearable.

He had died trying to save her.

Even though it killed her to watch Jack slip away more and more from her, she stayed with him for about half an hour inside the ambulance truck, just holding his dead, limp, and cold hand. She still couldn't believe that he was dead. Maybe this was all a dream. Maybe this wasn't real, and that any minute she would wake up in Jack's arms, and he would tell her that everything would be ok. But as she reached up to touch his face, and feel the coldness that flowed through his body, she knew that this was real.

"Jack, I wish we would of never came here. I wish this would have never happened. I love you so much. I can't lose you - not now. Please Jack..don't ever leave me." She sobbed as she leaned in to his chest, still holding his hand. But she could have sworn she stopped breathing when she felt her hand being squeezed.

"Oh...Oh God, Jack...sweetheart, can you hear me? Please...please...I need you...I need you here." Bursting into tears again, she rested her head on his chest, and ever so gently his hand reached out to wipe away her tears.

"Oh my god, Jack! Please!" She burst into tears again, but this time she was crying over joy. She couldn't believe it for one bit. But as he gently wiped away her tears, she couldn't help but sob more and more, hugging him close to her. After a few moments, he finally spoke.

"Janet..I..love..you.." He said with difficulty, causing him pain every time he spoke or moved.

"I love you so much," she cried softly, tears still streaming down her face. "You're going to be fine, you hear me? You'll be fine, and I'll be right with you wherever you go. I promise. I'm not leaving."

"Thank..you..sweetheart."

He gasped for breath, winching every second and squeezing Janet's hand ever so often. He tried to fight all the pain as his hand slowly reached up to caress her cheek ever so softly. Tears ran down her face, and her hands reached up to her face to hold his hand. Through his flinching and all, she could easily see a sweet smile that she always kept in her heart. She quickly called out to the paramedics, and they came running inside the truck with shocked looked on their faces when they saw Jack. Instantly they all got in the front and drove off back to the hospital.

"I love you." He whispered on the way there, becoming a little bit stronger.

"I love you," she murmured softly, never once letting go of his hand. Even as they entered the emergency room and wheeled him to a trauma room, she never once let go of his hand. However, the doctors said she had to leave then, and her hand involuntarily squeezed his a little bit tighter.

"Stay here," he whispered. "Please. I want you here."

"I'm never going to leave you. I don't want to lose you again. I love you so much."

A tear ran down her cheek, and the doctors could tell that she didn't want to leave. They didn't know if they should let her stay, but luckily, Jack had the same doctor he had when he got into the car accident. So, he let Janet stay.

After a few weeks, and a few visits from Larry and Terri, Jack was still in the hospital but was getting a little better. The doctors had all hope for him that he would be ok, and Janet was so thrilled to hear about that. Every day and night, Janet had stayed with Jack in the hospital, taking time off from work. Luckily her boss let her off easy.

"Janet, did I ever tell you how much I love you? Honestly, you were the only one I was thinking about when that bullet hit me. You were the one that got me through." Jack said as Janet sat down on a chair next to him, still holding his hand. For some reason, she never wanted to let go of it. It was like if she let go of his hand, then she was letting go of him. And she never wanted that to happen ever.

"Why?" she asked gently. "Why on earth would you risk your life like that for me?"

He leaned over and kissed her softly, seding a tingle of shivers down her spine. "That's why," he whispered softly. "Janet...you're the most important thing in my world."

"Well you're the most important thing in my life - and I need you in it," She smiled as he kissed her ever so softly again. She couldn't wait until he was out of the hospital. Once was enough, but twice was just hell. The hospital always creeped her out, and she hated being there. But being with Jack made up for that. An idea suddenly popped up into her head, and she smiled over at him.

"Hey, how about when you get out of here - how about we go off and get married?"
