For all of you who might be reading this, I could really use your help. You might get a kick out of what you are about to read, and if you could help me you would be doing me and my family a nice favor. I need to know the title of particular episode of "Kate & Allie" that my father appeared in. I can get a copy of the episode..but only if i know the title of that episode.

You see, my father was a cab driver in new york in the 1980's and was stopped by the crew of Kate and Allie to be used in a scene they shot. The scene was the opening shot of an episode where Kate is in a cab, the cab pulls to the curb, she pays the driver (my father), steps out of the cab and sees this handsome guy who smile at her and she smiles back. Then i believe he gets into the cab and Kate gets out to meet allie whos waiting on line to buy them both movie tickets. Well i was a fan of the show and, much to my suprise, was watching the night that episode premeierd on tv. When I asked my father about it, he told me what had happened but that he had not mentioned it to me because they told him his face would not be in the shot, and that he would have no lines because of Screen Actors Guild regulations (he was not in the union and was paid cash). Well, he was in the shot, clearly, and has a line he speaks to Kate that you can hear. As i recall, at the time, my father, the driver, is wearing a steryotipical ny cabby driver hat, and has beads on his seat in the cab, and unlike many ny cabs (and one of the reasons they wanted to use his) he did not have a security plastic partision between the front seats and back seats. Hes white and may or may not have had a beard at the time. Over they years iv desperately tried to catch reruns on tv with no luck and now it doesnt seem to be on tv at all. My only hope of getting a copy of this tape, which would be a lot of fun for my father to see (he never even saw the episode he was in!) is to buy it from someone on line who told me getting the tape might be possible but that I would need to know the title of the episode.

If anyone has any information please write to me at kefy77@aol.com. Thanks to all who took the time to read this post.

By the way, for some fun facts, my father said that scene took more then a few takes to do, and that he got to chat with susan saint james every time the set up for the scene and she was in the cab with him..and that she was an extremely nice person. He didnt really know who she was though cause he didnt watch the show at the time.
