......they eat out everyday. Not to offend anyone that reads this, but between the 2 you are looking at around 650 pounds! I work in this office and they never get up except to use the bathroom. One is in her mid-40s, and the other one is in her late 20s. Yesterday, the younger one was eating chocolate cake at 8:30 in the morning. I don't know what she had for lunch, but it was something heavy. I have never seen them eat light. One time the younger one ate 3 stacks of pancakes for breakfast and for lunch she had a huge chinese meal and ate the fortune cookie! Who the hell eats the fortune cookie?! Everday it is always subs, pizza, chinese, Bennigan's, bugers, tacos, etc. I have never seen them brown bag it. They don't get out their chairs, and when they sit down, you could see their stretch marks on their backs. I feel for these ladies, because if they don't slow down. they are going to have major health problems.

Obesity is a real big problem. I would eat alot of crap for lunch at work myself. I now eat in moderation and instead of taking the elevator, I walk up the steps.

Hey, I eat the fortune cookie!! But when I do get my shrimp with garlic sauce, that's usually 3-4 meals for me because it's so much food.

Anyway, I'm surprised they don't already have health problems. You'd think they be a little concerned when they walk across a parking lot or up a flight of stairs and are out of breath just from that. I'm sure they've encountered that quite a few times.

Hey, I like the chinese food, burgers, tacos, pizza, subs, etc.,too, but I don't eat it all the time. I like to cook and eat at home alot, too. I think I would get tired of eating out all the time. You maybe they're just too lazy to make something at home and bring it in to work?

I think the older one may have a health problem and doesn't care. When she does get up and walk a few steps, she breaths hard. I like the stuff they eat too, but that is the kind of stuff you treat yourself to once in a blue moon, but everyday?! These ladies sure know how to throw down! The reason why I said whoeats the fortune cookie is because when I eat chinese food, I'm usually too full to eat it.

Yeah, that's why I make my chinese into 3-4 meals, so I have the room to eat my cookie!! ;)

I agree, too, that it's not stuff you eat everyday, that's why I said I would get tired of it. I'm surprised they don't. Maybe when one of them starts having heart problems(if they haven't already) or be told one of them is borderline diabetic, it'll scare them enough and they'll take it easy on the continuous eating.

You all must get paid pretty well at your job if these women can afford to eat out everyday!! It's gets pretty pricey after a while!! :D

It's very hard to be overweight I ate like that but never in public I had major depression issues that started when I was a child and I became an emotional eater and by the time I was 18 I ate like there was no tomorrow out of habit. That's why all these diet problems I tried never worked for me, surgery was my only option.

Why not become friends with these two ladies instead of watching everything they eat. They are just like everyone else they are just bigger.

There is no need for it. All it does it make you feel worse about yourself and it makes you feel like they will love you more if you are thin and I felt that too and it's not true at all. They feel the same way they always have about me I just get the compliments now. Like the otherday my dad came over and I went to the fridge to get him something to drink. I was wearing my jeans and a tight t shirt and he said to me "I just can't get over how great you are looking" Stuff like that feels really good. I used to get that alot from my old job before I got laid off from them I do miss their compliments.

Well Im overweight and need to lose like 744384832 pounds, but I would never eat like that in public because Id feel paranoid that everyone was watching me eat and think of me as some pig. Im on another 'diet' right now, SlimFast and so far so good. And just because youre overweight doesnt mean you dont try to lose it. From the sounds of these ladies, it seems like they dont care. But, there are a lot of overweight people who are trying. And comments, such as that last one, really dont make matters easier. Whoever said insults help you is full of crap. Support helps.

In fact, I do. My first comment has not offensive, it was actually sincere. I would tell someone (kindly, of course) if they were getting bit too heavy, especially if I see what kind of garbage they are eating. It would be wrong of me to simply ignore their problem and see them slowly throw their lives away.

The only reason why I responded rudely the second time, was because you straight out said you will "punch me," if I would of said the same too you. That was way more childish than anything I actually said.

Sorry for caring, yourself being morbidly obese at one point should know that living life as an overweight person isn't a walk in the park. Wouldn't you be grateful if someone would of tried to help you before you got as big as you once were?

It's not like I'm going to point it out to some stranger, I would only do it to a friend, family member, or a co-worker-- people I care about. And what do you mean it's none of my business, I care if my friends are slowly committing suicide.

It also seems at times, people don't realize how fat they are getting. If they did, they would stop. So... you wouldn't be grateful if someone told you that you were getting too fat, but I bet you are grateful to the person who came up with the gastric bypass surgery.

It is the same predicament, someone is telling you that you need to lose weight, but at this point, it's too late.

if someone pointed out to me that i was fat or overweight i'd be pissed and probably say "it's none of your damn business if i'm way too fat or way too skinny. it's your choice how you control your weight but it's my choice how i control mine." and then i'd point out some of their own faults. i was told that i am way too skinny and i hardly eat anything so i said "it's none of your business to judge my eating habits. if you want to stuff food down your face like its a garbage disposal, fine. but don't pick on my eating habits". basically i'd be pissed at the person for examining me that closely to determine whether or not i was overweight.

I too sit on my ass at work, but technically we can't sit there and eat, so whatever I eat I have to sneak, so it's usually crackers or something. And I usually eat my breakfast (a bagel, a muffin...) at work at like 1-1:30pm. I don't eat for a couple hours after I get up; my stomach can't take that. That's my odd little diet plan.

I see what you are saying. If I was to approach someone about their weight gain, I wouldn't go out and say, "shed the extra lb.'s fatty." I would actually phrase it in a more friendly manner.

Forgive me for butting in, but I think the word "fat" is just downright blunt and rude. "Overweight" is definitely a better choice, but that's just my opinion.

As for those ladies, have you ever wonder the cause of their eating habits? For all you know, both of them may have an eating disorder, such as COE (Compulsive overeating) or BED (binge eating disorder). These are physcological disorders that, in most cases, can only be cured through professional help. I have a friend who is a compulsive overeater. She is almost 300 pounds. She has intentions to lose weight and most certainly WANTS to, but she continues to eat anyway. It's something she can't control. It's not that she doesn't care (though I'm not saying this is the case with your co-workers), but she simply CAN'T fight off the urge to eat. Although physically uncomfortable, food can heal you emotionally. Perhaps deep down, these two ladies desparately want to lose this excess weight, but because they are categorized as 'morbidly obese,' they have lost hope to put in the effort. And society isn't making it any easier on them. I imagine they have very low self-esteem, and hence may feel that they're not "worthy" or being thin. Or that they are too much of a "failure" to lose weight, ETC. So my point is, it's not always because they don't care. I read an earlier comment that we shouldn't sympathize with these ladies. But I think we most certainly should. Their health is at risk.

I am saying all this for my friend, who I am really concern about. She means the world to me, and it would be so horrific if I were to lose her because of her health related to her eating habits.

I am also speaking for myself. I meet all the diagonosis criterias for both BED and COE, and let me tell yah... losing weight is HARD, especially if all you want to do is to stuff your face all day. I've eaten as much as 10,000 calories a day before (5x the amount a 'normal' person would eat. And I am 5'1", age 16... so that is pretty scary stuff.). Although I am not overweight... ahem... YET, lol.... I would very much so want to lose this excess fat I've gained from binge eating. Do I try? Yes. But am I successful? Not unless I practice anorexia/bulimia.... but otherwise? No. So let me get this straight... I DO care, I WOULD like to try, but yet I eat and eat and eat anyway until I RUN OUT OF BREATH and in some cases, even COLLAPSE????? It's all in the subconscious. I have no control over it. Like how Mandie used to be an emotional eater, I am now one too. Food is my "best friend." But with a best friend like this, who needs enemies, right? It'll only end up hurting me in the end. So... yeah, sorry for boring you all to death, LOL. I just needed to let that out.

Like how Mandie used to be an emotional eater, I am now one too. Food is my "best friend." But with a best friend like this, who needs enemies, right? It'll only end up hurting me in the end. So... yeah, sorry for boring you all to death, LOL. I just needed to let that out.

I hope you can overcome this and if you'd like to talk I'm always available

MandieR1980:it did at your ignorance. I feel smarter everytime you open your big mouth.

Mandie, SBTB, why don't you just calm down and let the argument end?

Guys, why don't you just calm down and let the argument end?

Who asked you?

The insults and overall pissing match stop now. Clear?

Hitting the high points:

Going up to an overweight person and telling them that "Hey, you're getting too fat...quit stuffing your damn face" doesn't work. Trust me, I've been on the receiving end of a couple of those in my life. It takes a PERSONAL committment to lose the weight...All that being a rude thoughtless ***** accomplishes is making them depressed, which only aggrivates the damn problem.

Next is the Pizza-Delivery Man line from Page 1: So what...Occasionally a person will have a pizza delivered, whether they're 130 pounds or 310 pounds. Big deal.

Next is this political correctness thing...How in the hell did this turn into a mini-thread on that? As is, Fat is a noun, not an adjective. Overweight adequately describes the problem without getting into a marsh of PC-ness. And, please, save the African-American debate thing for another day.

Also, I believe it is un-christian for people on this board to use profanity and I believe it is a sin. Jesus died to keep us free from sin, let us honor him.

We had a Politics/Religion board. It closed in April 2004. At that point, threads about those subjects were declared illegal. However well meaning your post was, you've VIOLATED that...I won't even discuss the fact that not everyone may believe in Religion as you see it - lest I become guilty of the thing I'm chidiing you for..

Also, while you may mean well, it is NOT your job to serve as the profanity police of the forum. We have a chat filter for the most severe words, and as for the rest: The day you registered for the site, you acknowledged that this was a Web-13 site, and that there may occasionally be profanity...The profanity not blocked by the chat filter is permitted, regardless of individual user's opinions of various words.

Edit: Apologies to webwarrior are warranted...due to errors with the quoting of a post, I falsely attributed the big mouth comment to him. Sorry.

However, I still have issue with the comment itself. Insulting someone by saying that you feel smarter every time they say something isn't exactly going to endear them to your opinion, to say the least. It just causes more problems.
