View Full Version : Hello Barney Miller fans
Capt Miller 01-12-2005, 03:23 AM I recently have gotten the dvd from season 1 and have totaly forgotten what a great show this was.
I've read that season 2 may not even make it to dvd, Has anyone tried writing to Sony to see if they plan on any further releases?
Maybe we can do a e mail campagne?
What a shame if this show goes bye bye for good

tv...ornotv.... 01-22-2005, 09:55 AM Yikes....I am the owner of the Barney Miller TV Show Home Page, (http://www.debw.com/barneymiller.html) and I've been having people write to Columbia House. I guess I should change that to "write to Sony"? I never purchased the 1st season, because I already have those shows (& most of the other episodes) on VHS (my own taped from tv). - Deb Wong

I initially was not going to purchase the Barney Miller DVD for the same reasons as you, for I also had the first season episodes already recorded on VHS. But I am glad that I did, because it was nice to see the same episodes uncut...BTW I love your website
tv...ornotv.... 01-24-2005, 11:30 AM Thank you, Lady T! I created The Barney Miller TV Show Home Page in 1998, simply because there were NO other websites dedicated to the Barney Miller show, which was my favorite tv show. I grew frustrated trying to find the information that I needed for the show - it simply wasn't out there! So I started out by scanning my old TV Guides with the Barney Miller cast, recorded the theme music that you hear on my site from one of my videotapes, and did research at the library and bookstore. The background of the site was taken from one of my old videotapes, as well. Within the next year, the Abe Vigoda site and a few others popped up, & we traded links. I gave Tim from another site the theme music file that I had to put on his site, and I guess interest with more people grew from our little sites. I only had 3 pages when I started, and added interactive pages as I went along (favorite quotes, guestbook), which helped the fans become more involved. I had a correspondence with Maxwell Gail for awhile (he is the most accessible of the BM cast), and linked up to a website that he had for a couple of years. I received two awards from TV-devoted websites for my Barney Miller site, and though I have been involved in many other sites & projects in the intervening years, my Barney Miller site is always a favorite. BTW, I have put the info. about Sony on the site, with a link to an email address to write to, so that more people can encourage Sony to put the other shows out on DVD - you're right, they are so much better un-edited (a clearer to view, too)!

I tried to comb through the internet to find any information about the Barney Miller and the actors of this great show, and I came up with a very small amount of information, which is unfortunate because I think there should be a lot of interesting web sites dedicated to the a program that ran for 8 long seasons...

After 6 e mails to sony I have yet to get a reply, Anyone ever get a response from them??
DebWong 02-16-2005, 03:08 PM It is rather frustrating for me as the webmaster of the
Barney Miller TV Show Home Page (http://www.debw.com/barneymiller.html) to keep getting mails from people asking when the rest of the shows will be put out on DVD, when I can't get an answer from Sony Pictures myself! All I do is keep repeating the mantra - write to Sony......write to Sony....and perhaps someone will realize that there are a lot of us who would pay to have the complete series on DVD!
