What do you think? Kasey 01-30-2005, 06:50 PM I for one would buy all 6 seasons, but I don't think the show has a big enough fan base to warrant a DVD release so I doubt it will happen Moonlight Lady 05-16-2005, 12:36 PM I would definitely buy it if it came out. I loved this show. TeeVeeCloset 05-16-2005, 03:32 PM It's A Living will never come out on dvd, its part of many lost television shows like The New Gidget which will never see the light of day ever again.....I had 3 episodes of Its A Living in my collection which I recently transferred to DVD and they look great...It brought back some fond memories seeing the show again and enjoying the beautiful and sexy Ann Jillian as Cassie! Moonlit_Suburb 05-18-2005, 01:50 AM I'd also like to see It's a Living on DVD. As far as it being released, never say never. It could either get season sets, or if the studio doesn't think the audience is very big, they could release a "best of" compilation of some sort. And if that disc/set sold well enough, maybe we'd even see season sets... cach9801 09-01-2006, 09:24 AM Wow, no posts in AGES! I'd buy it too though. It used to be aired after Three's company on my local fox station like 10 years ago... (2:30am!) I used to tape Three's Company, then became addicted to It's a Living too. Too bad it's not released. Scoobiedoo30 09-01-2006, 10:40 AM I also think It's A Living Should come out on DVD teothnf 09-06-2006, 03:15 AM Over time i am sure its a living will come out . so many shows are being released now and people only have so much money. sooner or later there wont be anything new ot release and hopefully its a living will spark up on the shelves OH Nuts! 08-14-2007, 10:24 PM It certainly should. Distributors...where are you!!!! ThomasE 08-24-2007, 10:32 PM I would love for the DVD release. That would be a treat for me. As a kid, I love me some of the show. LOL. There is not a big fan base for this show as someone stated earlier on this topic. Jude The Obscure 01-20-2008, 12:18 AM Of course, how can you build a fanbase if no one ever gets to see the show?? Some of these "evergreens" that TV Land always shows need to put to pasture for awhile and let some of the hidden gems get a chance to shine! ThomasE 11-18-2008, 01:49 AM If they could just pull this show off the shelf and dust if off, then with the right promotion, this show could have a better chance. TeeVeeCloset 11-18-2008, 07:41 PM The last time "It's A Living" had a real shot at national exposure was when ION had the Warner deal...after waiting for months for them to air Alice, I kept suggesting on these boards and the ION boards that ION needed to pair "It's A Living" at 6PM with "Alice" with fresh promotion lines like "We are serving up the dinner hour laughs" or something similar. "It's A Living" would have been perfect for ION, it was a quality show that would have looked like a first run sitcom to many that had probably had never even heard of the show. ThomasE 11-18-2008, 08:04 PM I agree with what you are saying totally. If the head honchos could see the same thing. robyrob 11-18-2008, 09:06 PM i always loved the show and i'd love to get it on dvd tah86 07-02-2009, 08:21 PM They Have a bunch of shows On DVD that didn't last that long like Tabitha ,The Greatest American Hero.so they can easly put It's a Living On Dvd wich lasted 6 seasons and Has 120 Episodes (1980-1982,1985-1989).Well Known In the 80s because of Ann Jillian was a big star at the time. The show is funny and would hold up through time.It should be out on Dvd and Online (hulu ) where people Can watch it Robert 13 10-16-2009, 01:09 PM There are many requests for this show over at Shout! Factory's site. I think they would be great at putting together a dvd-set for this show. One suggestion though... I think they should release Seasons 1 & 2 together since they were short seasons. I wonder if Brian at Shout! would be a good person to send a message to. He has posted on here in the past. We can, at least, try. :) Kupotek 05-06-2010, 02:10 PM I'm actually really surprised the series hasn't been taken from VHS somewhere and put online via bittorrent... someone out there's gotta have the episodes on VHS. Robert 13 05-06-2010, 02:56 PM I'm actually really surprised the series hasn't been taken from VHS somewhere and put online via bittorrent... someone out there's gotta have the episodes on VHS. I am too. Surely, someone out there was a big enough fan to record every episode. Kupotek 05-06-2010, 03:00 PM I've checked every place it would show up if it would shop up at all. Bitme TV, Tvtorrents, Ioffer, Ebay, Google searches (which is how I found this forum). I think I'll check IMDb next :) Robert 13 05-18-2010, 11:23 AM As Warner to release it through their Warner Archive Collection at their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/warnerarchive . Maybe they will put it out. There's a chance. Warner checks this page daily and takes these suggestions into serious consideration. So, let them know you want IT'S A LIVING on dvd. :) Kupotek 05-18-2010, 11:27 AM I just posted a request on their Facebook page :) Good thinking. Robert 13 03-21-2011, 11:34 AM Still no sign of this great series on dvd. I really hope it doesn't wind up like so many series did in the 30s and 40s where episodes are lost and damaged. I have a feeling Warner hasn't digitized the series yet as it hasn't re-surfaced in reruns in a long time. But I wish they would consider releasing even a collection of episodes on dvd. catlover79 03-21-2011, 02:44 PM I'd love to see it, too. They had great actresses in the cast such as Louise Lasser, Susan Sullivan, Barrie Youngfellow, Ann Jillian, etc... Kasey 03-22-2011, 10:23 AM Everyone needs to email them service@wbshop.com to express their interest. ThomasE 02-06-2012, 01:54 AM I'll try to make some time to e-mail. I would love to see this show released. Brian Damage 02-06-2012, 02:03 AM I would love to see this show released. me too danmanx 03-29-2013, 04:07 AM I would love to get this show! I used to watch it all the time. Even though, I'm nowhere near the viewing demographic for it... Oh hell, it's was funny! Mr. Drucker 03-30-2013, 11:42 AM I'm surprised I don't see "Living" turn up on Lifetime or other similar stations geared towards female viewership.Fantastic show!My favorite characters-Ann Jillian's wisegirl waitress and the interminably insufferable piano player.I'm surprised I didn't think of HIM for over on the "Biggest Male Jerks" thread!I remember catching Gail Edwards on "M*A*S*H*" as a traveling USO performer.Marvelous chemistry between her and Alan Alda. I think because it was in first-run syndication it was never considered 'prestigious' enough to run on Lifetime ala "Designing Women" or "The Golden Girls". With all these retro stations out there, it's time for one of them to resurrect this show. Svenfan1234 04-12-2016, 01:02 PM I keep on thinking someone like Logo (on cable) will pick it up or Me-TV or Laff. It seems like such a good show, and so weird that it's never played in syndication or on DVD. Hopefully WAC realizes there is a fanbase like how they've released shows like Growing Pains, Medical Center, and The FBI via their WAC service. Shout! could also release season sets or a complete series set, but they could release Season 1 & 2 like Sisters. You never know. I'd love to own this show. TMC 08-15-2018, 04:15 AM I think because it was in first-run syndication it was never considered 'prestigious' enough to run on Lifetime ala "Designing Women" or "The Golden Girls". With all these retro stations out there, it's time for one of them to resurrect this show. I admittedly never saw It's a Living (being a frequent visitor to these message boards, I would've naturally heard of it) until Logo started showing it this past year. I was wondering why It's a Living isn't talked about much anymore. I mean the show ran for six seasons, 120 episodes, and was presumably popular enough (retroactively) to warrant a syndicated revival. I'm guessing that It's a Living was hampered by its decidedly checkered history. When it first debuted in 1980, there was a writer's strike, so Season 1 was somewhat abbreviated. And then after the first season, the show was substantially retooled. Susan Sullivan and Wendy Schaal left the show, with a glum, tense Louise Lasser now getting top billing Season 2. The also they reduced the number of girls and covered them up, therefore losing the "jiggle show" factor. That second ABC network season was titled MAKING A LIVING for network broadcast in 1981. These two network seasons yielded 27 episodes. THEN, there was a multi-year hiatus for the show; this was almost unheard of at the time. Ann Jillian announced her breast cancer, and the show came back for four more seasons in syndication (93 more episodes). But Jillian only did one syndication season and then was replaced by Sheryl Lee Ralph. Crystal Bernard came aboard as a new girl for the syndicated seasons. It's a Living never had a consistent cast (where nobody left in-between seasons) until the the final three seasons on the air. It's a Living may have gotten lost in the shuffle not only because it was spent much of its life-span in first-run syndication (normally just outside of the prime time window and on weekends) but it came out when other female-buddy sitcoms were on the air: The Facts of Life, Alice (another show about waitresses), Designing Women, Kate & Allie, and The Golden Girls. All of these factors just made It's a Living appear to be an "also-ran" or filler material. dante11 09-22-2019, 01:08 AM google its a living dvd-it is a company called dvd treasures. https://dvdtreasures.net/products/its-a-living-dvd-almost-complete-series |
