This ABC sitcom is about a married couple and their three children. Kathy Najimy and Ted McGinley play Jane and Dan Sutton. Dan and Jane Sutton are happily married to each for 19 years now. Dan Sutton is a successful and highly-respected orthodontist (of 12 years now) and Jane Sutton is a stay-at-home housewife (of 18 years now). Dan and Jane's children are Callie Sutton, 18 (Courtnee Draper), Nicole Sutton, 17 (Hilary Duff), and Zoey Sutton, 13 (Jamie Lynn Spears). Callie is a high school senior, who can not wait to go to college (to party). Callie is rather a rebellious teenager-who loves to party with her friends and hangout with her older boyfriend, Jake Hunter (Kyle Howard). Nicole is a high school junior, who is very much in love with her steady boyfriend of 2 years, Eric Samuels (Frankie Munuz). Zoey is a seventh grader, who is eagerly and rapidly becoming a young adult (with a mind of her own). Dan, Jane, Callie, Nicole, and Zoey all live in their Minneapolis home together.

Episodes:

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
Dan and Jane celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary, by going to a movie and out for dinner. Meanwhile, Nicole and Eric decide to double date with Callie and Jake.

Ep2: Life's Tough, Get Over It:
Nicole freaks out after failing her math test, after thinking she aced it. Jane is not fond of Zoey's new-found attitude problem.

Ep3: Detentions All Around:
Jane and Dan are disappointed and upset with their girls, after they are get detentions : Zoey for her attitude problem, Nicole for caught cheating on a test, and Callie for giving the finger to two of her teachers.

Ep4: A Mistake Of A Lifetime:
Callie is uneasy as Jake's former girlfriend, Amy (Rachel Bilson) is back. Jake decides to accept Amy's offer to hangout together. Callie is jealous and spies on them together-only to discover that Jake and Amy kissed. Callie is furious. Meanwhile, Dan must deal with his very flirty patient, Angela (Mimi Kennedy).

Ep5: With Help From Alex:
Callie, with help from her best friend, Alex (Olivia Wilde), breaks it off between her and Jake for good. Jake is upset and tries to win her back, yet Callie refuses to take him back. Meanwhile, Nicole and Eric are caught in her room making out by Zoey-who blackmails her sister (or she'll tell thier parents).

Ep6: Something About Missy:
Dan realizes that his new dental assistant, Missy (Melinda Clarke) has something up her sleeve-but he is not sure what. The truth is Missy lied about being married with kids to get the job, because she is actually just a single, childless woman who needs a job. Jane must deal with Nicole (all of a sudden) quitting basketball, and with Callie's moping around about being single.

Ep7: Jane Goes Back To School:
Jane decides she wants to go back to school and get a college education. Callie is not happy with her mom's idea, due to the fact that in the fall, she will also be attending college. Dan and Nicole decide Jane should go back to school and try to convince Callie to change her mind.

Ep8: Bake Sale Disaster:
At Zoey's school, Jane is asked to bake six dozen cookies in 2 days. Jane is stricken with a bad cold, so Callie and Nicole must work together and bake six dozen cookies in 2 days-which can only turn into a big disaster.

Ep9: Concerts:
Nicole, Eric, Callie, and Alex (Olivia Wilde) attend a Snoop Dogg concert. Jane and Dan decide to go on a romantic getaway without the kids for the weekend. Dan and Jane, instead of getting romantic, both end up going to bed (to sleep) by 7. [yet wake up and enjoy morning sex].

Ep10: Sisters and Brothers:
For Thanksgiving, Dan's brother Chris (John Stamos) and Jane's sisters Adrienne (Jean Smart) and Sarah (Katey Sagal) visit (without their families) the Sutton household. Adrienne, Sarah, and Jane get into a big feud about who gets to make their mom's beloved sweet potatoes. Meanwhile, Chris and Dan make a bet over which team will win : Vikings or Packers.
