View Full Version : Don't forget to watch Medium IheartMoonlighting 01-03-2005, 02:38 AM Tonight(1/3) at 10pm on NBC. Dutchie 01-04-2005, 05:05 AM What's that? and what are they showing  and WOW what a cool forum we have now  :D MulberryGal 01-04-2005, 09:44 AM It does look really cool doesn't it!! I love it. Especially the quick reply thing. I think 'Medium' is the new Glenn Gordon Caron programme... I wonder if it will ever be shown in the UK?! Mul kismet 01-04-2005, 10:51 AM Darn it! I missed it. Did anyone see it? Was it good? SweetCakes 01-04-2005, 11:07 AM What is 'Medium' about? Not that we'll get it in the UK for about 10 years but still :D The forums look so much neater now. Yay-hey! I like  CindyK 01-04-2005, 11:32 AM I saw it....and I haven't quite made up my mind about it. I will continue to watch episodes and see if it doesn't gel better for me. I just really don't feel an affinity for the lead character...but maybe I will warm up to her as I spend more time with her. I can tell you that this is a pretty dark series, and to me a couple of the kidding around jokes sorta seemed out of place. Of course this was just the first episode and they had to establish a lot of back story. But it felt choppy and confusing to me. Maybe subsequent episodes will flow more evenly. kismet 01-04-2005, 11:34 AM Cindy -- what's the premise of the show? Is this the one with one of the Arquettes in it? CindyK 01-04-2005, 11:56 AM Yes this is the show about the psychic who helps solve crimes and Patricia Arquette is the lead. It is based on a real person. NBC has certainly promoted it very well, and I do hope it is a big success for Glenn Caron. I just wonder how many more crime solving shows the networks can bare. CindyK 01-04-2005, 11:57 AM oops sorry this posted twice kismet 01-05-2005, 08:56 PM Please, someone remind me to watch this next Monday. I'm so used to watching CSI Miami (even though I can't stand David Caruso) that I will need reminding. CindyK 01-06-2005, 12:10 AM Kismet There is a new episode running this Thursday night at 10 Est/9 CST Also the pilot episode is reairing I think next Sat. night. Check TVGuide.com online schedule or nbc.com and click on the link for medium to see the airing schedule. kismet 01-06-2005, 12:04 PM Thanks for the update, Cindy. Tazmania 01-06-2005, 03:06 PM Please, someone remind me to watch this next Monday. I'm so used to watching CSI Miami (even though I can't stand David Caruso) that I will need reminding. Is David Caruso the red guy? Because I don't like him! kismet 01-06-2005, 03:48 PM David Caruso was in Hudson Hawk - he played one of the "candy name" bad guys. I don't know if I would consider him red. He does have reddish hair. I don't like the way he says his lines. You can tell he is acting and that bothers me big time. Tazmania 01-06-2005, 04:45 PM Yeah this guy! I don't like him, dunno why Dutchie 01-06-2005, 04:48 PM no, he's in CSI and I don't like him in that show...donno why. Maybe it's a real nice person ??? kismet 01-07-2005, 11:36 PM I only saw the last 20 minutes of Thurday night's episode. My daughter had a travel field hockey game and I didn't get home until after 10:30pm. I will have to see an entire episode before I can really comment. So, I guess basically she goes from crime to crime giving her "feelings/sensations" to families and police. Can they keep this going week to week? Cindy said that there will be a repeat of the first episode this weekend. I'm going to try to see that one. I guess this show will not be a "Moonlighting" type show. CyBr 01-08-2005, 07:33 AM I think that's my problem, too. With anything Glenn Caron does, I'm looking for Moonlighting 2 and it's just not going to happen. marla 01-11-2005, 05:01 AM i saw medium tonight and i really enjoyed it. i love the fighting between the wife and husband and there's an awful lot that reminds me of moonlighting. maybe i just adore the writer glen caron. they argued about the death penaly and they did it in a dark car. discussing and arguing in cars and in the dark is a moonlighting technique. the husband has the same wit as david addison, he's just quieter. husband: "viagra-so that old men can date women half their age" i mean, he's funny! and the wife has this sort of quiet sensual way about her. and she can give as good as she gets. in a way, they are david and maddie, but just a bit quieter and without the motown. the mysteries are creepy-but then they could be seriously creepy in moonlighting too ( the lady in the iron mask) moonlighting seemed to grow into itself and even seemed to be a bit standard in its first episodes and become more and more exciting and i have no doubt that this show will too. i'll make time to watch it. i watched it because it's a hit and people were talking about it. 20 million had watched the first episode. now mr. caron can add one more to that. i like the way that man writes! i'm thrilled about this. CindyK 01-11-2005, 11:11 AM Last night's episode of Medium.... the second episode (Suspicians and Certainties) since last week we had The Pilot/episode one aired on Monday and Thursday nights (they changed the schedule at the last minute and replayed the Pilot on Thurs. night) was GREAT! Now I can really see the show coming together. Just great writing on this one. I am so glad! I was rooting for Glenn Caron to have a great new series....and now it looks headed in the right direction. My favorite aspect was the way the dreams presented the horror of the crime without being totally gruesome.....but it still gave viewers a sense of the criminal's sickness. And that great bit about the mute boy/counseler story and how it was being told vs. what actually happened---well this episode had a real depth to it. The conclusion in the restaurant was such an oh wow moment. I have always been a big fan of Caron's work.....and this episode illustrates why. marla 01-11-2005, 02:49 PM yes cindy, and if you want, (and i do!) you can see how 'david and maddie' characters would be together-married, with 3 children. (i stopped watching moonlighting at 'to heiress human' because i did not believe these two would ever hurt each other-and were anything but soul mates and knew it). so these characters are still fighting about the 'big topics', still loving, and sexy, and married with 3 kids. for me moonlighting was never about a detective agency-it was about the characters, and here, the characters just seem to continue about 10 years down the road. i do think the last restaurant scene was-really-oh my- just wonderful. and the 'jesus' mute boy, seeing the woman's bare breasts. isn't this just the way...people say what happpened, but what really happened is usually quite different. maybe, my serious david addison crush has obviously been about glen caron. count me as one of his groupies! that man has passion and it just shows in his art/work and the way he views men and women. it doesn't get any better than that. Dutchie 01-11-2005, 03:18 PM this show sounds interresting. I wonder if it ever comes on Dutch tv Tazmania 01-11-2005, 05:16 PM Oh yeah in about 5 years! IheartMoonlighting 01-12-2005, 12:23 AM Last night's episode of Medium.... the second episode (Suspicians and Certainties) since last week we had The Pilot/episode one aired on Monday and Thursday nights (they changed the schedule at the last minute and replayed the Pilot on Thurs. night) was GREAT! Now I can really see the show coming together. Just great writing on this one. I am so glad! The conclusion in the restaurant was such an oh wow moment. I have always been a big fan of Caron's work.....and this episode illustrates why. I thought it was a great episode too. Caron's writing really was the highlight of this episode. It felt almost as if I were watching a documentary. The relationships and the drama felt real and not forced. As long as Caron continues to give us episodes on this level then he will finally have another hit on his hands. marla 01-15-2005, 12:11 AM a friend of mine recorded an episode of 'the tonight show' where the female star of medium talked to the show host about the relationship between her character and her characters husband, right before a clip of medium was shown. female star: I really love our relationship on the show. show host: That's what i like about the show, the husband and wife work together. female star: and it was written by glen caron who's the show creator who did moonlighting. so he writes kind of cool, gritty, loving, sassy relationships. show host: cool, gritty, sassy-let's take a look. kismet 01-15-2005, 01:04 PM " cool, gritty, loving, sassy relationships" That's just my cup of tea. marla 01-15-2005, 03:04 PM a side note about her, she's trying to get into the guiness book of world records for having made the most 'sock monkeys'. she showed one one the show, and it's a pretty cute long legged monkey. and she made this amazing monkey mask. and the last time she had been on the show she dressed as this giant rabbit, because it was easter. kismet 01-17-2005, 01:32 PM Don't let me forget. Don't let me forget. Don't let me forget. 10pm tonight 10pm tonight 1opm tonight What are the odds that I will forget? Too great to mention. Tamm 01-18-2005, 01:30 PM Did you remember? Dutchie 01-18-2005, 01:44 PM Yeah, or did you forget? :p kismet 01-18-2005, 02:56 PM I remembered! :happyface I watched it and enjoyed it. I didn't think I would enjoy this kind of show, but I really did like it. I loved the relationship of the main character with her husband and kids. I just hope they can sustain the storyline week after week, because if a psychic as qualified as this one really existed, wouldn't ALL crimes be solved? marla 01-18-2005, 08:36 PM i'm not really sure what happened in last nights episode. maybe i need to get more sleep or something. the lady that was counseling the couple at the very beginning-right before the husband shot the wife, she was so creepy and pleased when he did it.-she was apparently some sort of energy. i got lost. i found someone who recorded it, i'll look it over again. i did like last weeks better though. CindyK 01-19-2005, 03:45 PM Kismet Allison Dubois does really exist and she does work in the field of criminal justice. NBC.com on their page about Medium tells all about her. But no, psychics don't know everything about every crime. Just certain things. This episode was really good...but not as great as the week before. But still good 2 weeks out of 3 so far. Not bad!! CyBr 01-19-2005, 05:28 PM I still can't make up my mind. Last night's episode was a little too graphic for me. I think I'd rather see more stories about characters rather than crimes, if that makes any sense. I'll try to stick with it a little longer. marla 01-21-2005, 07:46 PM there is an ariticle in people magazine about the real allison dubois. some tidbits: 'not quite anyone's idea of a medium--she's a fiery redhead who packs a gun and met her husband in a bar-she says she has assisted in dozens of missing persons and murder cases since working with the texas rangers-her first case- in 2000.' all three of her children can see dead people. her husband says he never lies to her for obvious reasons. she has gotten lots of e-mails from priests and people in the clergy saying 'thank you for making us feel this is okay.' about sceptics she says 'i don't care because in the end, they will all die, and THEN they'll find out the truth.' i'm not saying i don't believe her- but how interesting in a way. Dutchie 01-22-2005, 07:12 AM Yup, interresting. My cousin can see dead people since he was born. When he was little he had made a drawing of his family, but there where too many people in the drawing. That's how his parents found out. I believe that little boy, but I'm not sure if I will believe all adults. marla 01-22-2005, 02:14 PM the star of medium said that she believes that people can see dead people, but that she thinks that there are a lot of phoney, balonies out there too. kismet 01-25-2005, 04:24 PM I saw Medium last night. I am going to become a regular viewer of this show. Did anyone else jump out of their seats when the woman appeared in a CAPE? Cybill in London came immediately to my mind. Also, the one daughter's name is Ariel. Don't you love coincidences? ;) CyBr 01-26-2005, 12:46 PM That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the red cape! I wonder if Glenn Caron has Cybill on the brain! kismet 02-01-2005, 06:27 PM According IMDB, Artie Mandelberg directed the Wolf episode (the one with the red cape). marla 02-01-2005, 07:49 PM i Loved last nights episode. the fighting, the sex, the look on the district attorneys face---and i liked the dead man she was in the coffin with, he was sweet. oh yeah, and i liked the plot too! kismet 02-01-2005, 08:19 PM I liked last night's episode also. The oldest daughter's name is Ariel, then Bridget (I think). Does anyone know what the baby's name is? My 15 year old likes the show as much as I do. I think I read that Medium was picked up by NBC already for next season. CindyK 02-02-2005, 02:02 AM Yep, I agree last nights episode "In Sickness and Adultery" was another really great episode. The writing on this show is just super duper. Happy happy happy that Caron's show is going so well. Tazmania 02-02-2005, 06:35 AM Hope this show comes to Holland soon! I getting really curious here! :) Dutchie 02-02-2005, 09:56 AM Me too! Taz, we gotta write the tv-peeps!! LOL Tazmania 02-02-2005, 12:19 PM It's a thought! marla 05-04-2005, 06:11 AM i've noticed this guy on medium who plays a detective and has been on the show 3 or 4 times is a young bruce willis type. the medium has had fights with him and in the last episode met him in a darkened police station (very glen caron) and covered for him. it's sort of a platonic 'maddie and david'. this is charming. |
