Those were the days, huh? Nice pic. Steve Nora 01-01-2005, 10:30 AM :D Steve! Lolac 01-01-2005, 10:48 AM Originally posted by Nora My Mary Poppins Christmas, back in the day. Don't do the math! http://docemmettbrown.com/poppins.jpg I have a very similar picture, probably taken the same year, with a Mary Poppins doll instead of a book. So, Nora, my guess is that you and I are approximately the same age! Lolac  Nora 01-01-2005, 07:00 PM Turned 49 New Year's Eve. Lolac. And I want to see your Christmas picture! C'mon, give. I'll have to search my parents' archives for that picture! Lolac  BTW, Happy Birthday! :birthday: Nora 01-01-2005, 08:20 PM Well, I won't leave you alone about it now 'til you do! Thanks for the birthday wishes. It would have been a better birthday if I hadn't gone to see Lemony Snicket (shudder). My kids want to see it, but I've been hesitant to take them because I'm not a Jim Carey fan. Lolac  Nora 01-02-2005, 08:42 PM Well, to give you an idea, they warn you up front that the movie is going to be dismal and dark, so to go to another movie if you don't want to see it. At least they're honest! It's very gothic, extremely dark and very, very weird. Not a "normal" character in the thing. And everything is very old, very dirty, and just plain ugly. Jim Carey was brilliant (although I could easily see Christopher Lloyd doing an ever better job with the role) and the animators deserve kudos. But if depressing ain't your gig...don't see it. Lolac 01-03-2005, 11:21 PM Thanks, Nora. I think I'll miss that one! Lolac  jillm816 01-04-2005, 05:11 PM Speaking of Mary Poppins Christmases, I had one this year! We got the Special Edition DVD. It is so fantastic, and the special features are worth the buy. They have pretty extensive footage of the Hollywood premiere (with some footage of the DVDS cast arriving) and the party afterwards (including a little interview with Carl Reiner). I highly recommend it! Jill Nora 01-04-2005, 05:17 PM I will definitely have to GET it! |
