yeah i noticed...thought that was strange but then i was like maybe that wasn't the first episode

and it was also strange that he died on there and it said to be continued and on my dvd(i bought 227 on dvd) the continuation was like 8 episodes later on disk 2

You are correct about that because I think that the pilot aired as the 7th episode on NBC then the 11th ep aired as number 8.
