Can anybody tell me of good dvd recorders. I want to start converting my tapes into dvd's. How much are they? I saw one in wal-mart for $249. Is that good? Also, how much are blank dvd's?

Brian,

This has been discussed a couple of times already. Here are a couple of links for you to check up on:

Not all recorders can record on just any brand of media. You have to find out which brand(s) your machine will accept without problems. Panasonics are very fussy, but the best brand, as far as I'm concerned. ;)

As far as blank media, prices varying widely ($.25 and up). I'm a frugal person, so I'm always looking for the best prices. Buying on-line would be your best option.

Here are the best places I've found to buy on-line, not counting specials that come in the Sunday ads:

Thanks so much. Sorry for bringing it up, I didn't realize there were other threads about it. I should've checked.

Yes! Once you get a DVD recorder, you'll never go back to a vcr. :D

Yes!!! It hooks up just like the VCR.

NO MORE VHS!!! :D

I have a Sanyo DVD Recorder/VCR combo(that allows you to transfer VHS to DVD) and it's great. STAY AWAY from Emerson!

I get a 30-pack of DVD R's from Memorex for $17 and change at Wal-Mart. You can only record on them one time and you'll have to buy the cases but you can get 50 for $8.87 at Wal-Mart as well. The DVD RW's are re-recordable, come with their own case, but they are more expensive(more than $1 each) and you can only get 5 or 6 per pack. I prefer the DVD R's.
