Why the hell did they do that? How sucky, not just to us, but to all the new "Cheers" fans that have been born this year! That was a classic moment with Diane in a nightshirt, face caked in a green goop mask, mouth hanging open with the audience cheering! And N@N blew it! ARgh! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

I am not sure if it is just NAN.

I remember watching the reruns, while the show was still airing on NBC in early 90's,and that same thing happened.

Sam called Diane, and it went off the air.

However,on other stations, they show Diane eating a piece of chicken and in her makeup.

Well, I just checked the schedule to see if "The Proposal" was going to air tonight and, yes, N@N does indeed suck. A couple of weeks ago I checked the schedule at Zap2it.com, it said "The Proposal" was going to air. Also, at that time, "Strange Bedfellows" was not going to air. When N@N changed the schedule, why couldn't they do the logical thing and air the SB 3 parter and "The Proposal"?

I also wonder why N@N skipped over another classic episode. This was a season 3 episode titled "The Executive's Executioner". It's the episode where Norm gets a job at this company and his boss makes him fire all these people. Norm gets so emotional while telling all these people they're fired that he actually makes them feel better. The part with Norm's nightmare after the firing gets to him is great.

I'm frustrated by this, and it must be more confusing for first-time viewers. "The Proposal" is the episode which explains why Diane returns to the bar again -- she's going to continue to work there until she can get Sam to propose to her again. I'm sure there are people out there who are wondering why Diane is working at Cheers again and talking marriage, while Sam acts disinterested in her.

BTW, the other night I missed the last part of the three-parter where Sam is dating the councilwoman. The scene where Diane crashes Janet's press conference is a classic. Tonight, they're showing the episode where Sam impersonates a famous surgeon to get reservations at an exclusive restaurant -- another classic. This is one of the strongest periods of the show, with one great episode after another.

i saw Strange Bedfellows and The Proposal once each, when it was in syndication(only a few months ago actually).

the season 4 finale(Strange Bedfellows pt. 3) ended w/ Sam calling "Someone"(It was a cliffhanger). "The Proposal"(season 5 premiere) began w/ the same phone call, then shows Diane eating her chicken, in the green gloop on her face. LOL i remember laughing so hard when i saw her!

as for not showing The Proposal at all, i think it IS N@N. i think they make us crazy on purpose(Why? who knows) http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I just checked out the episode guide at TV Guide and found that 2 episodes were skipped in season 4: Relief Bartender and Diane Chambers Day. In the first, Sam hires another bartender and Woody thinks he's out of a job. The 2nd is the one where the gang goes to an opera with Diane. The ending, with everyone except Diane waking up when the applause starts is classic.

I'm a "new viewer" who just started watching this year (I couldn't have watched in the original network run because I'm only 15) and I'd never seen that episode. I had read about it on the internet and was looking forward to seeing it. TV Land did the same thing to another show, skipping the famous "Chuckles Bites the Dust" episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

That's what I mean! Poor folks like MLB who are watching the show for the first time being thrown off. Boo N@N! They've been getting critisism for years and still insist on piffing off viewers. And, yes, Freak, Norm as the hatchet man was terrific. His crying was just about as funny as Kirstie's in later years. Always remember him bumping guys down that elevator shaft http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif.

It's weird that N@N night has skipped all these episodes yet is airing "Thanksgiving Orphans" for the 5th time tonight.

Oh, that made me nuts! I raced home hoping to catch the 10:30 episode to find them airing the damn Thanksgiving one again. Ugh!!
