Katey Sagal Reunites with “Married…with Children” Co-star Ed O’Neill, Who Guest Stars as Matt

“Old Flame” -- After sending an email to former college flame Matt (Ed O’Neill) to see how he’s been doing over the years, Cate becomes fed up with the unreasonable demands of her family and locks herself in her room for some alone time. But she’s shocked when Matt shows up at her window and whisks her off to re-live some adventurous, old times – then she begins to question if his rebel lifestyle is just a front -- on “8 Simple Rules,” FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“8 Simple Rules” stars Katey Sagal as Cate Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy, Amy Davidson as Kerry Hennessy, Martin Spanjers as Rory Hennessy, with James Garner as Jim and David Spade as C.J.

This sounds good, but it goes to show you how sitcoms have lost its creativity. It is a shame you have to go back in the past to spark up a show. Don't get me wrong, seeing Katey and Ed O'Neill reunite is awesome, but sitcoms today are lame because they lost that creativity.

Sitcoms have always done that. Especially since the 80s.

Like Pav said sitcoms have always done it. On Step by Step, Don Knotts guest starred, and we all know he worked with Suzanne Somers on TC. I think if John Ritter was still alive, we might have gotten some TC people on 8SR eventually. IMO they would be crazy not to capitalize on Katey and Ed's chemistry and popularity from their MWC time :)

Come to think of it, on "Jesse" with Christina Applegate, David Faustino guest starred. I guest sitcoms were starting to get uncreative since the 80s.

They had Don Knotts on 8SR during the tag scene of the Three's Company themed episode.

Yeah, ABC is showing promos with the Married with Children theme song.

To the poster who said "uncreative"....that has nothing to do with it. It's about a nostalgic throwback for the viewers of the show. Always nice to see former cast-mates hook back up again.

I missed Ed's appearance. Did they woop and holler like on MWC when he came on? I always love audience reaction like that.
