I prefer seeing what I'm about to buy in person, so I like to shop offline...But only if its for something I actually care about.

Online shopping is good too, though.

Well, I bought my '69 Cadillac- photos below- from ebay (but only because the car was located less than 50 miles away and I was able to check it out in person).

Anyway, I voted "A little of both."

Yep... I always check at the store but increasingly that's been the trend.

Offline, because you can actually SEE (in 3D) what you are about to buy and you don't have to pay those really high shipping charges either!

the only time I buy stuff online really is if they're only available online and I can't find it in any stores around me.

Online... sure, you pay for shipping, but it's just so much easier.

I buy mine and my husband's clothes in stores. I order online for most everything else. This week, from JC Penney, I got a set of sheets, gloves, hat and slippers for him online.

Online shopping is great.

I know. Plus, what's even better, is that you can buy virtually anything online. I can only imagine how Department Stores like Belks, JCPenneys, Dawhares, etc. are crowded today. Ugh. Did you do any Christmas Shopping online?
i got crystal's presents from ebay and some chia pet site.:grr: i got my dad's and brother's presents at the mall.

I'm wondering... how do you know clothes, etc. are the right size?
How do you know they will fit?

No, I buy clothes in stores, but other items, like sheets, music, movies, housewares, etc. online.

Oh, I get it. It would be hard to buy shoes without trying them on. I mean, depending on where they are made, one size "8" may be a size "7" for another brand.

That's true, although once I've got a size and a brand, I can order online. For example, my husbands wears Rockport shoes, and they're always size 11. He's an extra large shirt in any shirt.

I order PJs from LL Bean for myself. I order large, then they shrink. If I need a dress or something, I could never order it online.

And 7s and 8s are a fond memory for me. More like 10, a 12 in some items. Oh well, the 40 body.

I love shopping! However, I hate crowds and despise paying full price. So if I can get free shipping and a good deal, online all the way!!

Tomorrow I plan to go out and buy wrapping paper for next year. 75% or more off!!

I bought shoes from a catalogue (which is like buying them online) once and they were terrible. Then I had to pay to return them. Same thing with clothes. Never again am I buying them anywhere but in person.

Amazon a holiday hot spot

Confirming predictions of a huge Christmas for e-commerce, Amazon.com said Monday that it enjoyed its biggest holiday season ever, and that for the first time in its history it sold more consumer electronics products than any other category during the important Thanksgiving weekend.

The company said it also set a single-day record this holiday season, selling 2.8 million items, or 32 units every second, though it wouldn't identify the specific day.

Shares of Amazon.com soared 9% on the news to $42.25.

Amazon.com said the biggest seller in the consumer electronics category was the Apple 20 GB iPod, followed by the Apple 4 GB silver iPod Mini, while a $15 prepaid iTunes gift card also cracked the top five, along with a DivX Progressive Scan DVD player and a Canon Digital Elph camera.

"That's where the action is," said ChangeWave Research analyst Tobin Smith, who predicted months ago that consumer electronics would represent "a pocket of strength" in retail sales this season. "Kids didn't come home saying they wanted a new skirt for Christmas; they said they wanted an iPod, a flat-screen TV or a game console so they could play 'Halo 2.' "

As for e-commerce, Nielsen//NetRatings, in conjunction with Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Harris Interactive, reported that in the first six weeks of the holiday season, online sales, excluding travel and auctions, rose 28% over the same period last year to $16.7 billion. By contrast, the Association of Shopping Centers is estimating up to only a 3% gain in retail sales this holiday season compared with last. Attempting to lump online and offline sales together, including purchases of gift cards, MasterCard Advisors estimates an increase of 8.1% in holiday sales this year over last.

Amazon.com won't divulge too many numbers, but it did say it sold more than a half-million gift certificates this season and delivered 100,000 shipments of goods to U.S. military personnel stationed overseas. It also did not specify the date on which the single-day sales mark was set.

Overall, Amazon.com's best sellers in the DVD/video category were "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Extended Edition," "Seinfeld Seasons 1-3" and "Star Wars Trilogy," with the sequels "Shrek 2," "Spider-Man 2" and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" also breaking into the top 10.

The best-selling video console games were "Halo 2" for Xbox, "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" for PlayStation 2 and "The Incredibles" for Gameboy Advance.

The hottest CDs were U2's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," Clay Aiken's "Merry Christmas With Love" and the Nirvana boxed set "With the Lights Out."

I did most of my Christmas shopping online this year. I hate shopping in stores! I can never find what I'm looking for. I buy all my music, video games and books online. Mostly on Amazon.com and Ebay.:D

I prefer offline because I'm not willing to go peacefully into this whole new, "Never leave the house" society that so many ppl want us to move toward... BUT I do shop online a lot because it seems you can find more specific things you want that harder to find in stores.

I also still go to an actual BANK to do my banking, I go restaurants and EAT IN, and love going to the movies.... Pleasures in life I'm not ready to give up. And I avoid self check-out whenever I can

I'm the same way as far as going to the bank, offline shopping, and some online for harder-to-find things. But I do a lot of self-checkout -- the stores I frequent have really gone heavily into that.
