We have a DVD/VCR player and the problem is, we are missing a cord. The player box came with only three colored cords, and they didn't give us the last one. The one they didn't give us is something called the Svideo in or out cord. I don't know which one it was if it as IN or OUT. They also gave us something that resembled a cable cord and we tried to put that in the S Video In or Out, but that didn't work. And when we looked at the instruction manual, I didn't see any of the cords that they had in the manual for SVideo. I saw about four different kinds of cable cords, and none looked like the one in the box. When we bought the player, the cashier said that we wouldn't need any extra parts. But I vaguely remember seeing a DVD connecting jack on sale somewhere. Do we need that or do we need to by another cable cord? And how much will it cost? When we tried to play it, the player played, but didn't show up on T.V. What channel is it supossed to play on? The manual didn't say a specific channel, but I have always known VCR' S to play on Channel 3 or 4. I don't know about DVDS/VCR'S, but they should work on the same channel. Help me out please.

Do you have like an "input" button on your remote control? Or some type of auxilary channel? Because that's what my dvd player plays on.

S-Video? That might be the problem.

Don't you have SCART connections? All you need is a SCART and it'll solve all your problems!
S-video connections are useless - the picture quality is very poor.

If your TV has regular RCA inputs (red, yellow, and white) all you have to do is connect them to the DVD (TV also, of course) and then change your TV channel to AUX or "Video."

If your TV does not have RCA jacks, you will have to buy an RF modulator, or even a new TV since it is obviously very old.

We returned it to the store and got a DVD player instead of a DVD/VCR player. Then we realized that we had put the DVD/VCR cord in the wrong holes when we put the DVD player in the right holes. :o But, my cousin said that a DVD/VCR player isn't really that good because anything can mess it up. She also said that if the DVD side messes up, the whole system messes up and vice versa. Is she right? We got a Sylvania DVD player. is that a good systerm? I don't now because we also saw a RCA DVD player on sale for 20.00 more and an Oreition(spelling?) one for 10.00 less. Did we make a good decision in buying the Sylvania player?
