Great DVD!!!! I just finshed watching the first side of the first disk! The pilot sequence with Joan Marshall and Happy Derman is interesting!

A few questions:

1.) Are the episodes on the DVD going by production order or original airdate?

2.) In "Rock-A-Bye Muster", Dr. Dudley doesn't have his glasses on when Herman and Grandpa go to his house. He mistakes Herman's hairy hand for his dog and says, "Yes, I remember, you had your doggie with you last time." There is also a reference that Herman says, "Doctor, you fainted in the middle of my examination." BUT, "Low-Cal Munster" (The one where Herman has his physical) is the LAST episode on disk 1, side A) Shouldn't "Low-Cal Munster" come before "Rock-A-Bye Munster, and not after?"

3.) The episodes appear to be complete and uncut. However, in "Pikes Peak", there is at least one quick fade to black sequence as if there is something missing when the gas workers discover the basement and where the supervisor (actor Richard Deacon) is talking to them. (I may be wrong about the exact sequence, but the fade to black is in this episode and maybe one other) Why would this fade to black be occuring on the DVD, if the episodes are uncut?

The picture quality and sound are supurb for a 40-year old series, and the menu navigation is easy!

1. The episodes are going in original CBS airdate order.

2. There is no honest reason why "Rock-A-Bye Munster" aired ahead of "Low-Cal Munster". It was just a mistake on Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher's part.

3. All the episodes are un-cut, because I saw Butch Patrick on "Good Day Live" talking about the Season 1 DVD and he said that the episodes "are the original length". Trust me, he wouldn't make a statement like that if it wasn't true.

P.S. There are minor technical difficulties in episodes #9, #10, and #33. Though, I can understand that the original masters must really look like crap, since the show has always to be re-copied for syndicate reruns.

The one thing that I have noticed (and others have reported) is on Side B of Disk 1, "Tin Can Man" is perfect, but the sound quality of "Knock Wood, Here Comes Charlie is very low." The same is true for "Autumn Croaks." Is this a flaw with Universal, or did those master tapes just have low sound on them? Does anyone know how a cable company channel like TV Land, would be able to make the sound louder for their versions? Why couldn't this be reproduced for the DVD's.

All Universal DVDs seem to be a little less than perfect. But hay, what can you expect?!

TV Land probably has the audio heavily compressed. It's not the way they were originally aired. There's less hills and valley's in the audio track that way. Have you noticed how a lot of commercials are louder than the programs? It's about the same, compressed and maximized to the limit, using the whole audio range.

Also, audio in 1964 was a whole lot different than it is today. It's entirely possible that the episode was first aired with a quieter audio track. It is 40 years ago.

I hope those same audio problems aren't gonna be in Season 2s box-set.

I'm sure that Universal makes transfers from the highest quality copies that are available of the shows. However, there's still likely to be some audio (and probably video, too,) inconsistancies. So, I'd expect the second season to likely be the about the same as the first. Hopefully, all the extra goodies will offset that. If they do make it to the set. (It does sound like there will be a lot of them! :D)
