While I watched the Hollywood walk of fame tribute to Freddie Sr. his son Fred Jr. talked of his grandmother in Puerto Rico. He called her Mary but as everyone knows her name is Maria.

It made me wonder. Does anyone know Kathy's mother's name?

I think Kathy just bought him up and told him that she was Grandmother Mary and the other Grandmother was Grandma so and so.

Seems to me I read somewhere that the family called her Mary for short. If I'm wrong someone will correct me I know... :)

I noticed that as well, and thought I had heard him wrong. I agree with Pitooey, it must be a family thing to call Maria Mary.

Being a "Marie" myself, I know it is not unusual to use the nickname "Mary" for "Marie" or "Maria". After all, both Marie and Maria are derivatives of Mary.
