View Full Version : Stay away from this episode when you buy the 4th season on DVD TVFactFan 12-17-2004, 12:25 PM "A Friend in Need". Esther Rolle is not in this episode and J.J is trying to stop some guy from killing hisself. Horrible episode. vashti1999 12-17-2004, 12:39 PM I remember that episode although it's been years since I've seen it. I know the guy who attempted suicide is the same guy who competed with Rerun in the disco contest episode in season 3 of What's Happening. I don't remember it being a horrible episode. And you know now that you pointed it out everyone who gets the season 4 dvd is going to make a point to watch that episode. GARFIELDKOOL 12-17-2004, 01:22 PM That episode wasn't bad, though it definetly wasn't a goodie. I couldn't stand, "The Judy Cohen Story." vashti1999 12-17-2004, 01:35 PM Originally posted by GARFIELDKOOL I couldn't stand, "The Judy Cohen Story." Thank you. That's Analyzer's favorite episode. He likes to sing along to "Send In The Clowns" with Judy. GARFIELDKOOL 12-17-2004, 01:41 PM What made them even make that episode? That took away from everything. I understand you have to sometimes expand from the main setting, but I never been a fan of episodes where the main cast have to do something on stage. Seems like every sitcom is like that. Caffeine King 12-17-2004, 06:21 PM Now I'll make it a point to watch that episode. I don't think I've ever seen it. I have seen The Judy Cohen Story... I saw it probably over a year ago on my UPN station (UPN Atlanta) and I didn't think it was horrible, though I didn't think it was anything great either... I'm looking forward to seeing it since I haven't seen it in a long time. Other season 4 episodes I'm looking forward to: The Big Move part 2 for the "damn damn damn" scene, Michael the Warlord, J.J.'s New Career 1 & 2, Rich is Better Than Poor . . . Maybe, and a few others that I might not remember just because it's been a while. I'm actually looking forward to alot of them because the later episodes haven't stayed in my memory like episodes from the first three seasons. And of course, I'm looking forward to Michael's Great Romance which has my all time favorite Florida quote. I am looking forward to every episode from the 4th season DVD, regardless if they are considered bad or not...How many days to the 15th of February? vashti1999 12-18-2004, 12:18 AM Originally posted by Lady T I am looking forward to every episode from the 4th season DVD, regardless if they are considered bad or not. I guess I should have said that too. I'm looking forward to them all, except the Judy Cohen Story. I'll still watch it, but I'm not looking forward to it. Originally posted by Lady T How many days to the 15th of February? Less than two months away now. jamesanthony 12-18-2004, 05:33 PM I vaguely remember the episode with the guy who tries to commit suicide. It's one of the very few to make reference to James after John Amos left the series. As for Judith Cohen that episode always struck me as odd because Judith and her repertoire are so far removed from African American culture it and her both seem out of place in this series. I guess the irony is that this Jewish girl was going to have JJ bring her into stardom. I always thought that episode would've been more interersting if Judith was black like JJ. That episode seems set up to promote the actress who played Judith, but I never saw her in anything else. Lady T 12-18-2004, 08:48 PM Ok, the first thing I am going to do when I receive the 4th season DVD of Good Times is to watch A Friend in Need & The Judy Cohen Story ;) Jefffalan 12-18-2004, 09:08 PM To those who have seen "A Friend In Need", what exactly is said in reference to James(John Amos)? I'm just curious because I have NEVER seen this episode. Thanks jamesanthony 12-18-2004, 09:16 PM Originally posted by Jefffalan To those who have seen "A Friend In Need", what exactly is said in reference to James(John Amos)? Thanks After the guy took the pills and JJ is trying to keep him up he mentions that he lost his father recently and says that he misses him a whole lot. I don't remember the exact dialogue though. TVFactFan 12-18-2004, 09:50 PM Yeah he says he misses his day every day. I think that may hae been the last reference to James in the series GARFIELDKOOL 12-20-2004, 11:49 AM He was referred to in the 6th season. When the Evans were about to take a bigger house, Florida told Keith, whenever she looks at him and Thelma, she sees her and James. Sorry for going off your topic, TVshowAnalyzer, I just had to get that one in. |
