I just came upon this link. It is a new article concerning the disappearances of Ashley Freeman and her friend Lauria Bible.
Its says that a murder suspect named Jeremy Brian Jones is being considered a person of interest in the Freeman/Bible case. Jones is currently in jail, charged with capital murder in an unrelated case.
As you may know, Freeman and Bible disappeared in December of 1999, after Freeman's parents were killed in a trailer blaze. UM first aired the segment in 2001.

Sorry to bump a REALLY old thread, but did anything come of this? I remember this case, and I recall a quick look up on it once, in the UM wiki thing but didn't have much info so I assumed it was a cold case forever.

Yeah unfortunately these are two girls that I have forever thought have a remote chance at being alive. I guess to this day there is still no proof if they are either dead or the less likely version that they are on the run and were in on the crime.
Poor Laura though, it looks like she spent the night at a friend's house at precisely the WRONG time. I hate to say it, but the Freeman family seemed like a skiddish family from the get go

The thing that has always intrigued me on this case is why the girls were not killed on the site like the parents.
That fact leaves these 4 possibilities
1. They were taken to be raped and were killed elsewhere
2. They were in on it and are on the lam.
3. They were killed on the site and their bodies were not found or were displaced accidently or on purpose.
4. Nobody was killed on the site. The bodies of the two victims were placed by law enforcement later on.

I've always leaned towards #1, sadly. I don't think #3 would be correct because even if this was a crooked police department someone would have seen something. I would hate to say it was #2. You could look at a sinister approach and say that Laura intentionally wanted to "sleepover" that night knowing what might happen. But that is remote. Laura was almost certainly the unluckiest person on the face of the earth. Unfortunately without a body or even a suspect the cops do not know which theory out of those 4 are correct

The weird thing was the cops/firefighters not finding one of the bodies.. the family of The other girl found it, how dodgy was their search through the first time, or was it somehow placed there later? (very unlikly I imagine)
