hi i was just wondering if you have ever had a repair person argue with you because they think they know everything i will tell you what happend to me the other day. it all started last week when my internet service went out i called them and asked if they could send someone out right away. well they said they were very busy and i would have to wait until monday i said ok and they told me if it came back on dont cancel the service call . well i didnt think anything about it and waited until monday well all that weekend im thinking i know what the problem is ive had this problem before with my modem .plus the tower im on goes out once in a while but i just havent had it go out on me this long before well to make a long story short the guy comes over and its quite clear even to a layman like me that he doesent know what hes doing and he says he wants to restring my cable and do a whole bunch of other things that deep down inside i know are not nessacery but i say ok because im still having problems with my service but here is where the story gets strange and stupid. not more than 5 miniutnes after he left my modem starts working well i have not had anymore problems with the compurter the modem or anything else so i dont see any reason for anybody to come out and fix a problem that has fixed itself so im thinking i would do my isp. a big favor and call and tell them that i dont need them right now after all. well common sense would tell you that they would say thats great im happy for you and thak you for calling if you have this problem again let us know and we will be more than happy to come and fix it. simple right? not with these people i called them told them i didnt need them and they instsed that they needed to come out and do the cable repair job anyway. wich imho is the dumbest thing ive ever heard so i ask them why they need to do this and they give me some runaround about how its to prevent problems in the fiurture and i tell them i dont need them here right now when you couldnt really verafy that it was a cable problem last time well they acted like a was a stupid moron for telling them that seince it was fixed for now and for all i know culd be fixed forever they shuld wait until something was wrong and then come out and look at the problem NOOO they wanted to argue and then had the nerve to aks me what day this week they could come and start digging for new cable finally i lied and told them i thought i had to work this week i dont i just wanted them out of my hair . sorry if i rattled on and on but i just had to get this off my chest and to ask everybody if a repair person has ever argued with you like this?

Wow,I've never really had an argument with a repair man,but when my tv was on the blink (god forbid-i almost died without it!) the cable tv dude rings me up and says,"Coming monday" and i said,"Great, what time?" and he goes,"Uhhh between 7am and 5pm.Geez,thats fabulous! It meant i had to stay at home ALL day, even if this guy decided to show up at 4:30pm.I was pissed off, needless to say.

Wow! I've never had a problem like that. Almost sounds like the repair person wants to do more work just so he can get paid more for his job. Though, I don't know for sure, never had a problem like that. Last winter a repair guy came to fix the furnace because the furnace would stop every once in awhile and then there would be no heat in the house. Never had a problem, though. The repair guy was smart and knew what he was doing.

This kind of reminds me of a problem my mother had with her car last week. She drove a Saturn. She went into the ditch and damaged the car so badly that the place where she took it, one of those places where you renew your licence and stuff, anyway, the people there totaled it because the amount of damage to the car exceeded the amount of the car itself. So, now she has no car and has borrowed my dad's car to get to work. She works about 70 km out of town, so if she had no car to drive she wouldn't be able to go to work. I was telling her that if she was thinking of getting another car she should get either a Nissan, Toyota, or Honda. My dad read somewhere that those are like the top three cars that are supposed to be really good and will last a long time.

Crystals- It would be best if your mom got a Honda. I have a 97 that has not given me any problems at all and it has over 95,000 miles on it. My friend has a 91 that still runs well.

AKA...mechanics at major dealerships. I take my car in for an oil change (well, dad did, but whatever). It's a 98, but only has 48K miles on it. I mean, it took me 6 months just to get 3K on it to get an oil change. Anyway, the dude tells my dad that it needs a water pump and leaks oil. o_O Apparently my dad looked like a moron. It doesn't leak anything, much less oil, water, or antifreeze, so obviously it doesn't need a new water pump or anything else. Stupid jerks.

I think we all have run into this...

One time at a computer store I was getting a new modem for my Commodore 64 ... I wanted to get a 2400 baud modem...... The guy tried to tell me 2400 wont work on C64 .. It worked flawlessly!!!!

In fact 9600 will work on C64 except its too fast for FILE TRANSFERS,the CPU cant keep up at that speed but reg communications is fine......

I think 9600 is the limit for C64.. (W/o mods of course)
