View Full Version : The Fox Network
Kristen 12-15-2004, 02:19 AM I was just looking at Mary's TV schedule for the month on TV Now (http://www.tv-now.com/stars/mtm.html) , and I saw several airings of TMTMS listed on something called The Fox Network. Now, I know 20th Century Fox currently has the rights to the show, but what exactly is The Fox Network? Is it like a local affiliate somewhere, or what? I don't think I get it, b/c I'd know if TMTMS was on in my area. But I'm really curious.
Pav, perhaps you can shed some light on this??

Larry Surrell 12-15-2004, 08:25 PM It could be the network on C band satellite that FOX provides to cable systems with no local FOX affiliate. Some backyard C band dish owners (like myself) can also subscribe.
Do you remember the dates and times that the show's going to air? I can check it out and see if that's what you saw. I'd also be interested to see how much (if any) of the show's edited.
Larry Surrell 12-15-2004, 08:31 PM Oops, I just saw the link you provided in your post. Checking the guide on my sat receiver, it's exactly what I thought. They don't seem to be showing them in original running order, though.
Thanks for posting this, Kristen. I'm going to record the show tonight to see how complete it is and will report back this weekend after watching the two episodes.

Yeah, it's a FOX for cable for areas who do not have a FOX affiliate.
Petrie Malone 12-19-2004, 12:11 AM So close to being able to watch TMTMS.. but yet so far, lol
I really hope TV Land picks up TMTMS again... that would be the perfect Christmas present!

Amen to that!!
I really hope Fox manages to get their act together on the DVD's, too. It seems like every other show has been put out on DVD, and they get multiple seasons, but all we get is one season of TMTMS.

Larry Surrell 12-19-2004, 01:06 PM I recorded and watched a couple episodes broadcast by FOX Network this week, "Romeo and Mary" and "Put on a Happy Face" (one of my favorites).
It has been so long since I've seen an unedited version of these shows that I can't tell how much editing (if any) was done. I do know the it is no where near the hack job Nick-at-Nite did on TMTMS. I hope to see some season 1 shows so I can compare them to my DVDs.
As an expreiment I captured one episode to my computer and edited the commercials out. The running time, including the opening theme and closing credits, is 25:22. Does anybody know the original length of a season 3 episode?
Two thing I don't like about the FOX feeds is there is a large FOX bug in the lower right corner of the screen throughtout the show, and they up-cut the show going into breaks so the video doesn't fully fade and the bump music is cut off before it's finished. Video quality is excellent, as good as the DVDs.

Well, if you can get ahold of "The Best of TMTMS" box set somewhere, "Put on a Happy Face" is on there, so you could compare (I agree, it's one of the best eps, BTW!!).
I wish Fox would air TMTMS on their regular affiliates like they do with MASH so that everyone could see it. I miss Mary! LOL!
