What do you think of Scott Peterson getting the Death Penalty from the Judge? i think he should get it !!!! he's guilty I didnt know why he couldnt just divorce this wife and kill her when she is pregnant with his son..I hope the jerk rots!! Whats everyone's opionion on this ???

Well although I agree that he should get it I think that he should have been thrown in a prison cell with other inmates. They would have taken care of him quicker than an execution will. Which may take years and years and I also heard that he will be in his own cell.

This scumbag had been cheating on his wife ever since they first got married! Oh yeah.............. what a great guy!:rolleyes:

The trial was too long, IMO, and I lost interest in it a while back. So it really doesn't matter to me what he gets. :)

I agree with ya. For some reason it seems that inmates have standards in a weird sense. They hate it when there is harm done to children and to the elderly. If Scott had not gotten the death penalty, he might have been hurt by the other inmates for what he did to baby Connor.

I hope he just gets life in prison. I've been raised hearing "Two wrongs don't make a right" my entire life, and I dunno, I guess it's finally starting to sink in. If you're dead, you're dead, if you're alive confined to a prison, what kind of a life is that? It's not like he'd be living some ideal life, he'd be miserable.

I used to not have a problem with the death penalty until last year when my government teacher told about all the ways they do the death penalty in the US and what happened, it's so barbaric...

That's what I think. Knowing your appeals WILL run out...eventually. Seeing other inmates disappear ONE-by-one for YEARS until its HIS turn.

Its probably like a slow torture which is what he deserves. I was shocked he got death but the guy deserves it.

The way the death penalty is done (at least out here in California) is by lethal injection. The condemned person even gets a sedative before the injection. It's quite painless and actually the opposite of barbaric.

Just because some of us disagree with the death penalty certainly doesn't mean we think murder is okay. Speaking for myself, I don't believe in the death penalty because it is murder.

Yep, here in Virginia you get your choice of the Electric Chair or Lethal Injection, but I read that since 2000, nobody as opted for electric, and they really don't have anybody trained to use the equipment.

Electric chair would be more fitting for Peterson, IMO.

Because i'm against the death penalty (which many people are), i feel sorry for scott peterson and thinnk murder is right? and just what the hell does any of this have to do with parenting?

The death penalty is nothing but murdering someone because they murdered someone. and it's therefore, IN MY OPINION, stupid. sorry, but that's my belief, and you can't force me to think otherwise. most of the people in this thread disagree with me but you don't see me lashing out at them with crazy accusations.

In California, I believe it's only lethal injection.

Yeah, why should Scott have to face a gas chamber or electric chair? All he did was murder his wife and unborn son! Who is the victim here? I really couldn't care less how he's executed- he certainly deserves it. Unfortunately, it will probably be many years before he is (if at all).

Why does it take forever to give someone the death penalty? If they are found 100% GUILTY, why not just do it ASAP? If they say the cells are so over crowded, then why isnt everyone on death row killed asap? Do they have to go through legal things.. :confused:

Yep.

I remember following the David Westerfield trial in 2002. After he was sentenced to death, I read that it obviously takes years and years for an execution to take place, especially in California. There was one case where this guy refused appeals and waived everything that would keep him from execution. Even then it took either seven years or a little over a decade for him to be put to death. I can't remember exactly how long but it certainly wasn't short.

I think Scott Peterson will die before his execution date. Prisoners kill the child molesters/child murderers before they kill the rapists and even before they murder the serial killers.

That is highly likely.

How many of our forefathers must be spinning in there graves right now. Beacause of the bearucacy of putting this man to death will take at least a couple of decade. I hope someone beats the system to it. Whatever happend to swift and stern justice? It was a much better place 100 years ago when the local sheriff took care a piece of Sh** like that take him out of commission forever.

i don't even think there was enough evidence for them to even find him guilty. i think he is innocent and it is very sad that their decision was death, what a shame. i will definitely be writing to him!

Because these people, although convicted, are still entitled to their legal rights. They have the right to appeal their conviction, and several of these people have later been found not guilty. There's no hurry in executing these people, especially until we are absolutely certain that we're getting the right guy.

Peterson is a perfect example of this. He was convicted completely on circumstancial evidence, and had a highly publicized trial with much public pressure. His attorneys will argue for a long time about how justice was not served, and he's really innocent. I personally don't think he is, but he's entitled to his appeal, same as everyone else.

Yes two still have the firing squad. One also has hanging (Washington State). Four states still have the electric chair. I'm not sure how many states still use the gas chamber, but it's probably not that many.

i think the gas chamber is still legal here in california, or maybe that changed i dunno.

Yup, the jury found him guilty. I have to admit that I am so glad that I have never had to face the decision of life or death on a jury. It would be a most difficult decision. But they found him guilty and that's that!

Off topic; My brother in law who was a Flint, Mich. policeman was shot through the chest on duty several years ago. All he did was to approach a group of young kids in a park while on patrol. One of them immediately shot him. The kid who was 17 at the time got off on some "technicality" and during the past 15 years has been in and out of jail on a regular basis. So much for justice:(

Could have fooled me. However mature you may think you are, you obviously don't know that much about today's society if you think that there are no more faithful couples. My parents have been married for 25 years and my grandparents for 55. There are couples who make it till death do they part, otherwise nobody would bother getting married anymore.

If a criminal has been punished, then I guess justice has been served. If Scott was aquitted for no valid reason, then justice would not have been served because a gulity person was released.
Scott will be punished in the most severe way because the crime he committed was the most severe (murder).

I agree with you! I think giving him the death penalty is wrong. I mean of course, what he did was a horrible thing, but like someone said before (too lazy to go back and quote), two wrongs don't make a right. I think that spending the rest of his life in prison would be better. Murder is wrong in any way - whether someone deserves it or not, because still, it's taking someone's life away. They should just punish him by imprisoning him the rest of his life because he'll have such a long time to think about what he's done.
