Cheryl Harrell 12-14-2004, 06:57 AM Congratulations dear Freddie. I wish you could've been here to have gotten it yourself. :crying: You would've been so excited just like we are. :) :)
I found something on his Hollywood Star on George Lopez site:
http://www.georgelopez.com/home/home.html
And don't forget December 14th is the day Freddie Prinze Sr gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of fame. The location is 6755 Hollywood Blvd (at Las Palmas) at 11:30am, everyone is invited!!!!!
victorianscribe 12-14-2004, 07:35 AM I love you, Freddie. Congratulations on your big day. You know I wish I could be there -- but I will be in spirit, and I bet you will be, too. I love you forever.
Pitooey 12-14-2004, 08:20 AM Well Freddie........... Your day is finally here.
It is a long time coming. Your star at 50 years old. I know somewhere you've got to be smiling... Plus I can just imagine Ed giving you a big hug right now.
Wherever you are Freddie I know that you're giving us fans a nod... ;) When I light a candle for you today you will be in my thoughts. Congratulations........
For Freddie Jr. - We are there with you in spirit........ We've always loved your father. He was a good man... Never let anyone tell you otherwise... For we were there when Freddie had his success. Maybe we didn't know Freddie personally just like we don't know you personally but your father was "THE MAN"......... And he was beautiful.
For Isaac - You were there from the beginning and the end. I will never forget you either. Thanks for being our friend, his friend and a wonderful comic in your own right!
For George Lopez - As a Freddie fan I just want to tell you "Thank you" from the bottom of my heart. You felt the same about Freddie that the rest of us fans felt. He should've had that star a long, long time ago. I'm glad you came out into the forefront and helped us achieve the dream we all knew Freddie deserved.
For his fans..... This is a day of celebration for Freddie. Llight a candle for him and bask in the glow of his honor. ;) :clap :clap :clap

Prince 12-14-2004, 09:05 PM All your tributes were so touching. I loved all the pictures that show how much Freddie Jr. has grown to love his father. Freddie has to be smiling down. I'm just so grateful that Freddie's talent was finally recognized. It sure has taken Hollywood long enough. Freddie gave us so much with his brilliant smile framed by the most incredible dimples I have ever seen. Jack is smiling down too. I can here him saying..."way to go kid, it's about time."
Pitooey 12-14-2004, 09:24 PM Lucky I've been sobbing so much while reading your post on the event. While I looked at the pictures I was sobbing. I thought I saw Isaac on the picture with Fred Jr. and George in the background but, I'm not sure because my tears just keep on flowing. :crying:
Luckymama58 12-14-2004, 09:26 PM I found this article online Mercury News (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/northern_california/10416720.htm?1c)
In the last paragraph George mentions the possibility of a new show collaboration with Jr. OMG that would be great!
Luckymama58 12-14-2004, 09:29 PM Yes, Jennylee, that is Isaac. Mariposa and I were speculating if the woman with him is Cathy? Kinda looks like it could be from the other pics of her and Jr. on the Yahoo News (http://news.search.yahoo.com/search/news/?ei=UTF-8&p=Freddie+Prinze&c=news_photos) site.
sfditusa 12-14-2004, 09:42 PM I am so happy that finally Freddie has gotten the recognition he has deserved for so long. As all of us have said on this site, we've known all along that Freddie deserved a star, and am glad George Lopez helped all of our dreams become a reality.
We love you Freddie.
Luckymama58 12-14-2004, 09:49 PM Check out the video link on this site!

Karen64 12-15-2004, 12:10 AM Way to go!!! Freddie, I'm so proud of you!!! If only you could see it! Well deserved, Freddie, my man! :cheer:
I'm so proud of Freddie Jr, too--that video was so touching! I wish I could've been there!
And thank you, George for helping make this happen!
Luckymama58 12-15-2004, 06:56 AM I went to bed last night listening to Freddie's comedy album in honor of his getting his well deserved star. Although I can recite his routine by now, I have listened to the album that much, Freddie's talent still shines through after all these years!
I also had a real strong desire to email Freddie Jr., but I don't have an email address for him. So I decided to write him a letter on here, hoping one day he would paruse this board and find it.
Dear Freddie Prinze Jr.,
I hope you don't mind me calling you Jr. Your father always hated to be called "Mr. Prinze" so I hesitate to be that formal with you.
As a long time fan of your father, I wanted to tell you how touched I was to hear and see what you said and how you reacted at the unveiling of your father's star yesterday. I have read articles about you from the beginning of your career and I know from these articles that growing up without your father was hard on you. I also know you weren't told much about your father till you were older, and that you might have been told lots of things about him since, both the good and the not so good. I know that his fans didn't know him as well as his friends and family, but I feel you might like to have our take on your father to add to your knowledge of him. He was very much a fan pleaser and respected his fans.
Your father had a great talent, one that is rare in this world. He was an all around entertainer, very much like his costar Jack Albertson. Besides his comedy and his acting, he wrote scripts and I believe he would have gone on to direct one day. He spoke of his desire to do that. He wrote songs and played a plethera of instruments, he sang and danced. So much of his talent is seen in the body of work he left behind. Even tho his professional career only spanned a few years, he was very busy during that time and produced a large amount of work. Besides his television show, his movie and his comedy album, he made numerous guest appearances on such shows as Mike Douglas, Tony Orlando, Dean Martin Roasts, Bob Hope specials, Dinah Shore and others I don't even remember. He was also a personal favorite of Johnny Carson, not only appearing on his show as a guest, but filling in for Johnny on several occasions. Many of his fans would like to think that your father would have given Jay Leno a run for his money taking over for Johnny when he retired. He hosted a Home Box Office comedy special, one of their first. Your father's fans live for the day when all of this would be out on DVD for us to enjoy. We only wish you and George Lopez could infulence the industry to do this for all of us. Then more people, especially your generation, would be able to discover the true talent your father was.
I was touched by your words yesterday, thanking all the good people who knew your father in LA and NY where he grew up. Many of these people might not have gotten the opportunity to know your father on a personal level, but so many of us admired him all the same. We were all saddened when he gave into the things that tormented him about the business. I know I don't have to tell you about the pressure, you are in your father's business and know about that first hand. It always saddens me, though, that it is your father's death, and not his life, that most people in the media want to remember and bring to everyones minds when they mention his name. Freddie was more than a tormented soul who gave up, he was a bright young star, who had a meteoric rise to fame. And as all meteors, he burned out too fast. That shouldn't diminish his talent and who he was as a person. At least it hasn't with his fans. He is still as bright, warm and talented in our eyes today as he was almost thirty years ago.
One thing this fan is sure of, your father is looking down from where he is now and is so proud of you. You were the one bright spot in his troubled life. He spoke of you with love and admiration. I believe our conscience lives on after we die, and I am sure that the one regret he had when he realized what he had done was that he had left the one thing he loved in this world. I know it wasn't fair, and I also know it is a fantasy of every fan of your fathers to go back and try to change what had happened. I suppose I would like to be able to do that for your sake more than for ours.
You have grown up to be a star in your own right. You are your own person, very much like your father was. Thank you for keeping the legacy of your father alive. I suppose all of us feel a little immortal when who we are is kept alive in our kids. If that it true, your father is living on in you, even as you have become your own person.
I think it is wonderful that you and George Lopez have been together in all of this. He is a good man, not only because he is a champion in cause of all fans of Freddie, but because he is a talented, warm person in his own right. I guess your father has rubbed off on him as well.
I don't know if you will ever get to read this, but if you do, know that it isn't just Freddie's family and friends who lost a great talent and friend back in 1977, but a plethora of fans who are still dedicated to his memory, even to this day.
May God bless you and your career. May He shine down upon you and your lovely wife. Thank you for being understanding about your father, even when I know it wasn't easy to try to make sense of him. His fans appreciate that you have been so understanding. I will tell you, we have become your fans too. And you will not find a more loyal bunch, believe me!
Yours in your father's memory,
Marie (Luckymama)
sfditusa 12-15-2004, 09:26 AM That was beautiful luckymamma. Your letter reflected every thought I have had in the most articulate and beautiful letter. Thank you for sharing that with us.
I hope Jr. will read the letter on this fan site, and know there must be a way to get your letter to him more directly. Whether he reads his fan mail is beyond me, yet feel this letter would touch him deeply as it did me.
I found jr's fan mail address on a jr fan site. I will post the address here for anyone else who may be interested in it, and especially for you luckymamma:

sfditusa 12-15-2004, 09:39 AM Is anyone else having problems viewing the video from CBS 2? It just keeps saying "loading" with nothing ever loading! I really want to see it, and would welcome any help. I know I have all of the media players to have watched all other videos. It's of course this video I can't get to work (argh!).
I'd appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks,
sfditusa

Lucky........ As usual you've written a loving and touching letter to dear Fred Jr. I hope he reads it one day. Oh by the way....... I'm still crying. :crying:
If I could tell Fred Jr. anything I would tell him.....
That when his father graced us with his presence on the screen he brightened up our lives. At the time I was working on Wall street and I had a rather hum drum life but whenever I saw your father up on that TV screen I would smile and laugh. I felt he understood us. He shared so much of my own life that I could relate to him. Whenever he talked about the doggie in the window (bobble head doggie) my father had one in the back of his old green car. Or when he said Looking Good............ He was LOOKING Good....... ;) Your father was so funny. I knew people who were funny back then in the 70's but Freddie was so cool  and funny......Also when you see the style of clothing your dad has on ( Especially the bell bottoms and that blue matching denim jacket.) We were styling just like him. Yes Fred Jr. I bought all those popular magazines back then and read everything on your father.... I couldn't get enough. If I could just end this letter I would tell you how proud I am of you. Your mother did a fine job raising you. You don't know how much I wanted to see you growing up. Luckily I'm fortunate as well as us Freddie Sr. fans to enjoy your success as well. We love you............ I'm blowing you a BIG kiss  because I will always love you. Take care of your sweet family and cherish everything you have. Maybe you'll give us a grandchild too huh?
Luckymama58 12-15-2004, 01:38 PM I have a 56K slow modem and it took FOREVER for that video to download. I finally got it to work, but the pictures wouldn't stream right, they were more a series of still shots. I am going to try it here at school today on our cable hookup. Good luck.
BTW thanks for the kudos about the letter. It was from the heart!
Cheryl Harrell 12-15-2004, 02:03 PM Thanks for sharing the video link. That was so touching. I had to get a hanky. It is so sweet how Jr, George Lopez & Mando care...

Pitooey 12-16-2004, 09:38 AM And what a nice letter it was! Are we lucky that Luis corresponds with us or what? Not only Luis but Isaac. We are one lucky bunch!
wheeeone 12-16-2004, 01:47 PM What a beautiful letter, Luckymama....I hope one day Freddie Jr. gets a chance to read it. I'm sure it would be a kiss to his soul as it was to mine when I read it.
To anyone interested, I've posted some photos from the Walk of Fame ceremony for Freddie on tuesday in the photo section of my site's message board. I will be adding more soon. The link is below....
