The whole plot of the episode is Jack's blind "pal" from the Navy comes back for revenge for something that is not clearly established. Most of the time he is ruining his, the roomates, and the Ropers dinner while seated at the table "Waiting for Jack to hit me." (he having hit Jack when he arrived) Then he procedes to wreck the appartment by deliberately knocking over and breaking things. Then when Jack finally attempts to hit him, he stops Jack and hits him again! IMO, an awful episode.

Yeah, "Jack's Navy Pal" is one of my least favorites. I would have liked it better if that bully tripped and fell down the stairs after hitting Jack the second time, blind or not.

It's my least fav ep of all time as well, since the jerk gets away w/ his lousy behavior. I was hoping that the restored tag on TVLand would show some resolution or revenge on him, but it just had Janet and Chrissy helping Jack w/ his sore jaw. I don't understand why this ep was even made.

When I watched this episode as a child it really bothered me because Jack was my favorite character and the fact that he was getting punched in the face and the apt was getting destroyed made me HATE th blind character. But watching it now as an adult, it's very funny.

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually liked this episode as David Dukes did a great job playing the jerk. He also played the guy who tried to rape Edith on All In The Family. Although I didn't really like it that he didn't get his like the jerk charachters in other episodes.
