I would buy "The Ropers" because like I said in a previous post, I am a hardcore fan, and I want to have it all!

I definitely plan on buying both. I've wanted these for the longest time since I haven't seen them in what seems to be forever.

But, if I could only buy one (let's say I was strapped for cash and had to hold off on the other one indefinitely), I'd definitely buy The Ropers first. Why? Because, even though Three's a Crowd had more Jack than The Ropers, The Ropers had not only Jack guest-star, but Janet, Chrissy and Larry. To me, it'd feel more like Three's Company than Three's a Crowd.

I'm not putting down Three's a Crowd because I clearly want it on DVD, but to me its only saving grace is that it has Jack, and that isn't enough for me. There were other characters that I would want to see and knowing that they were gone forever is a bit jarring, especially knowing how Joyce & the others felt about things behind the scenes. I guess as a longtime fan I have a bit of loyalty to the other cast members and would have some resentment for their exclusion from the spin-off. It was wrong for the cast to have that done to them, and it was wrong for the writers to think we'd assume that none of them would keep in touch (especially Jack & Janet; couldn't she have visited him at the Bistro with Philip???) after spending umpteen years together. Janet and the rest were not that expendable in my opinion. Had the producers promised the cast that they'd at least be allowed to guest-star once or twice (heck, even the Ropers could've stopped by!), it might have saved the spin-off from oblivion. Alas, the producers were to stupid and arrogant to even consider such a thing.

At least The Ropers felt like Three's Company. Three's a Crowd did not. As a result, many longtime fans felt alienated from the show even though the lead character was the same. I know everyone is sad that John Ritter died and all, but he alone wasn't Three's Company and the spin-off proved that.

In closing, I would plan to buy both series, but if only one could be purchased, it'd be The Ropers.

I would definately buy "Three's A Crowd" as well as "The Ropers"!

I probably wouldn't buy either also because I already had the chance to see the Ropers when I first registered on SitcomOnlne and the Same with Three's a Crowd. So I couldn't see myself putting out money to buy those shows. And since I'm not a DVD trader i definetly wouldn't see the point of buying those shows on DVD. I think both the Ropers and TAC would only be purchased from TC fans who never seem them before

I would choose TAC over the Ropers. The Ropers isn't a terrible show, but I wouldn't spend $25-$30 on a season set. I would watch it if it was on tv. I'll definitely buy TAC if it's ever released though. It's been years since I've seen TAC, but I remember liking it a lot.
