It was made in Toronto, not England, but this show is hilarious. Has anyone seen it? There are 13 episodes and it's set in a West Indian church. The senior pastor is a bit of an alcoholic slacker played by a Trinidadian comedian named Sprangalang and the youth pastor is a nerdy type with a prissy heavy set wife. Jamaican actress Leonie Forbes is the church secretary and her teenage granddaughter has a shaved head and is militantly political and her cousin is a shady character. The show humorously explores the generation gap of Caribbean immigrants and their offspring in Canada. If you like Desmond's this show should appeal to you. It's being screened at some black film festivals in the states.

But ...
You missed mentioning the East Indian guy(Russell Peters...A truly hillarious comedian. Check him out on JUST FOR LAUGHS(Just found out that he is getting his own series in the u.s.)) and the native guy, who has a crush on Sister Hope. hehe Hey...go for it! that's what I say!;) You are never too old for love and romance!
Desmond's was a much better show, I think. Everything about Lord have mercy seems like a direct copy of it. But then, that happens with a lot of british comedies...the u.s. and canada try to make copies of successful series and they usually don't compare or succeed( with a few exceptions like Sanford and Son and Three's Company and All in the family).
