Maybe this news will push the state of Florida to get that new stadium done. It is way overdue. Joe Robbie/Pro Player Stadium (which opened about five years before the Marlins debuted) was never intended to be a multi-purpose place to begin with. I have no idea why the Florida Marlins and/or the city of Miami couldn't have gotten a real stadium deal locked down from the very beginning (much like their 1990s expansion counterparts the Colorado Rockies & Arizona Diamondbacks). If the Marlins don't get the new stadium deal in time then I would suggest the following alternatives: The Orange Bowl (http://football.ballparks.com/NCAA/BigEast/Miami/index.htm) Some of the venues from the Florida State League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_State_League) Mark Light Baseball Stadium (http://www.miami.edu/cgmaps/mark.html) |
