Peterson Given Lifetime Channel Sentence

REDWOOD CITY, CA—Scott Peterson, convicted in November of murdering his wife Laci and their unborn child, was issued a Lifetime Channel sentence during the penalty phase of his trial Monday. "Mr. Peterson's story shall be re-enacted in Lifetime movies and miniseries for a period of no less than 10 years," Judge Alfred Delucci told a packed courtroom Monday. "His story shall be remanded to Lifetime's custody until the network determines that public interest has waned sufficiently to allow airings on Oxygen." Delucci ordered that Peterson's team of lawyers be present for the casting.

LMAO! What's sad is that Lifetime probably will do another 3 movies about this with 3 different actors. They already did one with Dean Cain.

I think he'll be given a life sentence. How long he lives in prison is anyone's guess.

he'll probably be sentenced to death because the justice system is ****ty like that. so someone will kill him as a punishment for killing someone.

why did he kill Laci?
Either he got really mad or he's just evil.

Oh, and I think he'll get a death sentence.

Thats what the media does and the sad thing is that their will be another sensational case that will take Scott Peterson's place.

Not more than the next stranger I see on the street, anyway, since I've never met them. In fact, I never knew they existed until she turned up missing. And neither did you.

Yes, her death is tragic. But does the case occupy my mind when it's not being shoved in front of my face? Hell no.

And now I'd like to dedicate to you the cool, soothing sounds of "Remembering Laci" (http://www.modbee.com/images/sections/rememberinglaci.html).

You doubt his family is in tears for him? So you think his family completely lost all love and compassion for him?

well, having a heart is always a good thing, but... what makes Laci and Scott so much more important than everyone else who winds up murdered? the media has made Laci/Scott into this sensational trial of OJ proportions, but Scott's far from the first guy to kill his wife. Hell, just where I live, there's a man who shot his wife and killed his children and his story never got bigger than local news.

Garagos tried to pull that "compasion for the family thing" and the judge didn't allow it:

...Judge Alfred A. Delucchi denied the request, ruling that "sympathy for the defendant's family is not a matter the jury can consider in a capital case."...

Now, no, I don't think they've disowned him or anything, but I also think that if they're reasonable peope, they probably don't have a great deal of sympathy for a murderer, even though it is their son. One can love an individual and know that they are getting what they deserve and have earned.

I honestly don't care what the judge did. Thanks, though.

What kind of reasonable people think the death penalty is a reasonable punishment? Not many, I wouldn't think ..especially not the parents of the murderer.

I agree.

He's a cold-hearted murderer. He got tired of marriage and wanted to fool around with somebody else.

He deserves no sympathy. He needs to experience what he did to his wife and her child.

Nobody has sympathy for him. I'm only giving sympathy to HIS family.

And even if he does get the death penalty, he's not going to "experience what he did to his wife and her child." A needle to the arm is hardly what Laci and Conner went through.

You shouldn't assume the family wants his life to be spared, in fact, you shouldn't assume that the family wants anything to do with this case. I have heard and read about stories where the family of the murderer stayed out of the whole process.

Your right, the death penalty is nothing like it used to be. A poke in the arm is hardly punishment. The electric chair would be far more appropriate, that's just my opionion.

I've posted this before, but...

My older brother was in a relationship for awhile with a woman who had two young girls. When I was sixteen and seventeen, I babysat them quite frequently and grew quite close to them.

After my brother broke up with her, she and the girls moved to Grand Junction, CO, where she moved in with a new boyfriend.

Just a few days after the younger girl's third birthday, this ******* threw her up against a bathroom wall and beat her. She was in a coma for a week before she died.

So he got life in prison. I'm glad. I prefer it to the death penalty, which, as Mary stated, is the easy way out.

I hope he gets anally raped nightly.

He can get anally raped nightly during the many years he spends on death row, watching other people slowly disappear from their cells one-by-one. I'm sure that will be a pleasant experience for him.
