I need the wording of something Jed once said about "fat back", "eating", "soap", and "the Good Lord".
I think it starts something like, "When you get down to your last piece of fat back, you got two choices: eat or make soap . . ."
Can anyone help???
I think it was "Whenever we was down to our last piece of fatback, Granny would ask Should I cook it or render it down for soap?
I told her the lord would feed us poor folks,
but we have to do our own washin'".

Actually that was a quote from Granny telling Jethro in one of the early episodes when she was making soap. "He's told me, 'the Lord will feed us poor people, but it's up to us to keep ourselves clean."
Jethro tells her but we ain't poor now, Uncle Jed's got 25 million."
Granny's reply is "And how long is that going to last if we start wasting it on foolishness like store-bought soap. Waste no, want not, boy."
