PASSIONS ACTOR DIES
David Bailey, who brought a face to Passions' maniacal patriarch Alistair Crane when he joined the cast in September, died Nov. 25 in an accidental drowning. He was 71 years old.

Bailey started his career on the stage, starring in such shows like The Sisters Rosenzweig, Deathtrap and I Ought to Be in Pictures. He built a 30-year career in daytime, playing compassionate Dr. Russ Matthews on Another World for a decade, and starring as Alan Spaulding on Guiding Light, Ben Forrest on As the World Turns and Teddy Malcolm on Ryan's Hope. His prime-time credits included guest appearances on Kate & Allie and Hack. He was a founding member of the Black Book Theater Company, and devoted 25 years of volunteer service to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Bailey is survived by his wife, Yvonne, and son, Xander. Memorial services will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in Burbank, Calif. on Dec. 4. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

A spokesperson for Passions states that the role of Alistair will be recast.

I'll always remember him as Russ Matthews on Another World. Great actor. RIP David :(
