You know it! December 28th - that'll be Christmas day for me lol I'll gladly spend a hundred bucks for my favorite show of all time! :)
vashti1999 12-01-2004, 03:34 PM Forgive me for doing this barwars, but you gotta admit it's funny looking at some of the beatings you've given dramas in the past. Seems like you're becoming a big supporter now. Welcome to the other side.
I watch TV to laugh, I watch movies to laugh.
Thats why Im not a fan of dramas.
Real life is dramatic enough.
------------------------------------------------------------
Im not a big fan of dramas.... and theres few, if any, Id buy on DVD.
------------------------------------------------------------
I yell at game shows and reality shows.
And of course -- die laughing with some sitcoms.
Thats why I dont like many dramas -- they're so, uninteractive!
--------------------------------------------------------------
I think that sitcoms are the best form of TV.
As for worst.... dramas. (<--OUCH!!!--me)
---------------------------------------------------------------
As for me....
Sitcoms
Reality (GOOD REALITY)
Talk Shows (with celebrities, not trash)
Game Shows
Cartoons
Dramas (hardly watch any, ever)
On the positive side, to your credit you did say this:
I like "fun" dramas.
Shows like ER and The West Wing bore me to death.

H. E. Pennypacker 01-08-2005, 03:05 AM Star Trek Deep Space Nine
Favourite Episode: "In The Pale Moonlight" Sisko Enlist's Garak's help in bringing the Romulans into the Dominion War, but as his father once warned him - 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions'. First class episode, directed by Avery Brooks.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Favourite Episode: "Becoming - Part II" This is the second season finale where Buffy is forced to kill Angel, this is the first episode I ever saw and I've been hooked ever since.
Law & Order SVU
Favourite Episode: "Sick" This was the episode last year which was almost a word for word retelling of the Michael Jackson situation, often when a show is "Ripped From the Headlines" they are American headlines so living in Australia you don't get the references - there was no such trouble here, and they left it open so that once further things develop in Jackson's case they'll bring this Toy Magnate back.
Law & Order Criminal Intent
Favourite Episode: "Monster" Always a good show this episode featured a killer who had done his time was now under suspicion for murdering his mother, the case very quickly gets intertwined with another old rape case which was thought to have been solved.
Quincy ME
Favourite Episode: Not one in particular, but practically any episode you watch will have Astin and that slack cop calling it an open and shut case and then whining that Quincy chooses to probe the matter further, by the halfway point Quincy would discover that the cause of the death is related to some important issue, Airplane Safety, Vigilantism, Spouse Abuse, Punk Music (Never Smoking!) and would then proceed on a massive tirade against corporations, government or anyone in power within a 50 mile radius! All while never showing his top teeth, they don't make em like this anymore.
Angel
Favourite Episode: "Peace Out" this was the second last episode of season 4 and the culmination of a complex story line involving a creature (Jasmine) who had inspired world peace and harmony by controlling the free will of people within her grasp (which was quite substantial thanks to television) only when someone came into contact with the creature's blood would they see her true face (quite grotesque) and realise that all of LA (and soon the world) was being brainwashed, Jasmine was also feeding on several Humans per hour. Finally the whole gang had managed to break free of her hold and they discover a way to break her hypnotic hold, one they do there is rioting and murder in the streets, humanity has won back their self-determination but the result was chaos. Angel and his brood are descended upon by Lyla, (now dead) representing Wolfram & Hart (the evil Law Firm they have fought for years) congradulating them on Preventing World Peace and giving them the reins at Wolfram & Hart thus providing the keys to the kingdom they had sought to overthrow. A rewarding finish to an involving story which ended up opening a whole new can of worms.
CSI Miami (It's sort of so bad it's good, an over the top series)
Favourite Episode: Every episode gets more outrageous than the last, seemingly impossible coincidences occur every other second. All the while Caruso drives every scene Captain Kirk Style, it's brilliant campy television, not the self important and long winded CSI but this Miami spin off is plain old mindless entertainment. No Particular episode stands out but every episode starts with "H" adjusting his glasses, he makes a grand pronouncement then BAM Opening Credits. Champagne Television folks
Star Trek The Next Generation
Favourite Episode: "Tapestry" It's a wonderful life as Picard finds himself dead with the omnipotent Q in the role of God, prepared to give Picard that chance to change his one major regret, starting a bar fight which ended up in an artificial heart transplant which ended up contributing to his death. He makes the change and with the benfit of hindsight stops the fight, a decision he will come to regret.
Quantum Leap
Favourite Episode: The Finale "Mirror Image" was the saddest final episode in the history of television.
NYPD Blue (Right up until when Bobby Simone died at which point it JTS)
Favourite Episode: Bobby Simone's death was the high watermark on how to write a character out of a show.

Yeah, what did you get, like five titles today? Don't be like me and take the whole year to get through 'em.

You really rank Roswell higher then Angel & Charmed? I only saw the first 8 episodes, but it didn't make much of an impression on me. It wasen't bad, but meh. (it's ranked #4 on my list because I don't watch many dramas at all) So does it get better later in S1 as well as 2 & 3? (I also find many of the characters annoying; Isabelle, Liz, Maria, the sheriff's son, and the Evans guy)
The theme song is definetly one of the best ever though!!!

H. E. Pennypacker 11-25-2005, 04:45 PM ^^ Roswall's Latter seasons were really good actually - might've helped that Ron Moore joined the staff. Since writing my list I've added some more...
Battlestar Galactica
Favourite Ep: "33" This show is what science-fiction should be - a daring allegory of the post 9-11 world where the heroes and villans are not actually that clear, religion is dissected and probed and the characters live in a constant climate of fear - kind of like the modern world really! 33 was the first regular episode after the mini-series/pilot and it gets you so involved that you start to well up at the end - for a show to do that on it's second outing it incredible.
NUMB3RS
It used to be that Sci-Fi was the television show of choice for Geeks - I think that CSI kind of fills that role now - to me CSI is the new Star Trek - well numb3rs takes the concept futher by relating all of it's devilish puzzles back to Mathematics. David Krumholtz is a magnetic screen presence and Rob MOrrow seems completely different to Joel Fleischman! Hell they even roped in Peter MacNicol - now that's a coup! Also the opening theme rocks!

Dean Winchester 02-01-2006, 05:46 PM it's funny how much interest is being lost in DH, me, Tim and Vashti all ranked it much higher awhile back, now it's dropping quite a bit on all the lists. I dunno what it is, it still has a great cast, and I thought Alfre was going to make the show even better, yet it's really staling out this season.

Dean Winchester 02-01-2006, 06:29 PM since AMcB is a Fox title, good chance if you wait six months, you'll get season 1 in a $19.99 sale
vashti1999 02-02-2006, 05:20 PM Money isn't really all that big of a issue.... I simply dont have the time to watch all the sets I have anymore.
So...don't you think they'd be better off collecting dust at my place than at yours? ;)
vashti1999 02-02-2006, 05:24 PM it's funny how much interest is being lost in DH, me, Tim and Vashti all ranked it much higher awhile back, now it's dropping quite a bit on all the lists. I dunno what it is, it still has a great cast, and I thought Alfre was going to make the show even better, yet it's really staling out this season.
I've missed about the last half dozen episodes. Been recording them and one of these days I plan to watch and get caught back up. But the newness of last year has worn off, and in the long run there are a bunch of dramatic shows I like better. Veronica Mars for example is moving up on my list. I'm liking season 2 more than I liked season 1.
Dean Winchester 02-02-2006, 05:37 PM you haven't missed too much. The only real thing I like recently is that Alfre finally is getting more screentime and she's getting more scenes with the other cast members (I loved it when she and Bree kinda got into it, it was nice to see Betty having more of a backbone instead of putting on a fake smile around the other women), but the writing is just running out of ideas fast this season
Johnny S 02-02-2006, 05:38 PM it's funny how much interest is being lost in DH, me, Tim and Vashti all ranked it much higher awhile back, now it's dropping quite a bit on all the lists. And it could quite possibly also slip on my list once I see season 2. I decided to wait for it to come out on DVD, since I found it to be more enjoyable watching simultaneously. (Not sue if that is the proper use of that word. lol)

season 2 has it's moments, but now it's at a point where my Sunday nights don't revolve around it like it once did. Supernatural's taken it's place as my fave current series (since you're a Buffy/Angel fan, you'll like it... it's the first show to fill the void for those IMO), and I also like One Tree Hill (which I never really started watching until this season) more than DH this season.
Johnny S 02-02-2006, 07:26 PM ^ I geuss I really should check out Supernatrual. I know a lot of people who like it, and say that it is great. But then again... they also abuse me quite alot for watching Buffy, not knowing that it paved the way for shows like Supernatrual. I tell them to just give the show a shot, and chances are if they like Supernatural they'll like Buffy. Anyways know that I hear you recommend it I HAVE to see it because most of the shows you like I also like. Thanks. You have damn good taste in television.

Christopher 07-20-2021, 08:00 AM 1 thru 6 is easy. The last four are hard because I want to include dramas that I rewatch besides the top favorites.
1. Buffy The Vampire Slayer
2. Desperate Housewives - I feel this is misplaced though because it always got nominated for comedy at the award shows. A lot of you put this on here so I will as well.
3. Dark Shadows - the original one.
4. Supernatural
5. Melrose Place
6. Popular - Ryan Murphy's best show ever. None of the others compare to this.
7. Law & Order SVU - seasons 1 - 12 with Stabler. His seasons are the only ones worth watching.
8. Bates Motel
9. The Boys
10. Jessica Jones - I would have loved to see this show continue more than three years. The writing was great and the cast was superb. Netflix sucks for ending it too soon.

Christopher 07-20-2021, 01:33 PM #1. Angel
I tried so hard to get into this show. I even chatted about it with another member on the Buffy board. If they had just got rid of Wolfram & Hart after season 1, I might have liked it. Keeping them as the big bad the whole run was boring. It's like Pretty Little Liars with A. When do they go away so someone new can torment the good guys? I like how Buffy did it. A new villain each season after wrapping up the previous so there's growth within the show and something new to watch. Angel never got anywhere with that IMO.

I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer so much that at first, I didn't want to give Angel a chance. i had read some spoilers for the characters and preferred not to acknowledge that series. But... I couldn't help myself. I broke down and bought the complete series and watched it and ended up liking it more than Buffy. I think I just like these characters more, plus I tend to gravitate more to the "B-shows" over the "A-shows." For example, I prefer Rhoda to Mary Tyler Moore.
Also, I liked Angel and Cordelia more than Angel and Buffy. Sacrilegious, I know. And this show's treatment of Cordy in season four was horrible. I loved her guest appearance in the final season, though. I watched all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in December of 2007 and haven't revisited it since. But I've re-watched Angel a few times, including the reruns on TNT.

 Who cares about Angel and Cordy. This is sacrilegious instead  :p J/K. It's awesome you are able to get into Angel. I got so bored with it that I pulled the plug in my viewing. I made it to the beginning of season 3 and once Wolfram & Hart started coming in AGAIN to take over, I was done with it. Every time the show had something, they kept throwing in the law firm to kill the excitement. I do think you should give Buffy another go though. I took a break from watching it and started back up a couple of years ago. I now can't stop watching it. I have it in my playlists on Tuesdays with Supernatural. It's such a great pairing.
