CA woman in critical condition after bus accident
(Glendale, California-NBC) Nov. 30, 2004 - An elderly California woman is in critical condition after her hand was caught in a bus door, and she was dragged and then run over by the bus.
In the security video 83-year-old Kyung Ja Oh is seen moving to the front door of the Glendale bus. She gets off the bus, but the bus driver does not see the Oh's hand caught in the bus doors.
She was first dragged by the bus, then when she freed her hand, the bus ran over her legs.
The bus driver stopped after passengers told her to stop.
Oh is in critical condition with broken legs and internal injuries.
The bus driver, Deborah Ann York, 51, is on leave with pay pending an investigation.
The Glendale Police is investigating whether it could be a potential criminal matter.

I don't see how it could be a potential criminal matter-the bus
driver just did not see the woman. California police can be pretty
stupid and sad sometimes. they are investigating the incident, it doesnt mean that they think there was any criminal intent or malice involved; they are just making sure that there wasn't - wouldn't you want them to at least ask some questions if one of your loved ones were involved in such an accident?

Thank you! What the heck is up with these disturbing news stories? I don't like coming to the main CC page and seeing these threads. Don't you all think that some people may be turned off by these topics? I am. Sorry, it had to be said. It was annoying after the first 50 times, now it is getting insane.

That's terrible. :( One time when my dad was driving a city bus there was an old lady who got off the bus and then slipped and fell underneath the bus, but my dad always checks to make sure people especially elderly people get off the bus safely so he made sure she got onto the sidewalk before he drove away.
I think that California bus driver should be fired or at least reprimanded in some way for what she did. Safety of the passengers should be the number one priority in public transportation.
There was one incident in my city where a city bus driver got reprimanded for something he did on Buffalo Days, which a weekend near the end of July, early August when the Exhibition is on. The driver stopped at some place to get a coffee or something and when he got back on the bus some elderly women were saying how the driver had been gone a long time and the driver was in casual wear for Buffalo Days and he sat down in a passenger seat and listened to them complain for awhile for fun and then he got up from the seat and said he was tired of waiting too and would drive the bus himself which really scared the elderly ladies and they reported him and he got reprimanded by the boss.
