Here's the zap2it numbers:

"Cold Case" did a strong 11.8/17 for CBS in the 8 p.m. hour, giving the network another solid win over ABC, which had a 9.8/14 for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." NBC was third with "Shrek," which outdid FOX's computer animated movie. On The WB, "Charmed" settled in with a 2.5/4.

At 9 p.m., ABC had the night's highest rated program with "Desperate Housewives," which did a 16.0/23, for its highest Fast National numbers yet. The first hour of the CBS movie "When Angels Come to Town" was a strong second with a 10.2/15. The first hour of NBC's "A Christmas Carol" was an anemic third with a 6.1/9, still beating the 3.9/6 for FOX's "Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" encores. Barely anybody tuned in to The WB's "The Mountain," which lost most of its lead-in.

Shrek was around 9 million. A little above our latest numbers. But off from Law and Order.

Someone had mentioned NBC working on a sequel to Law and Order kind of like what CBS has done with CSI.
My fear is that they might use the 7 or 8 until 10 time frame for the original Law and Order and the sequel. I don't understand why Cold Case and Extreme Makeover are still on air, but we take a break......especially during family holiday time. Wouldn't this be our largest possibility for the largest audience?

Anyone think this is possible?

It turns out that the fourth installment of the Law & Order franchise is not a rumor, but a reality. The series is called Law & Order: Trial By Jury and is set to debut in January of 2005. But nobody knows exactly when the series will air. Over at TV Tome there is some speculation it will get a Monday night timeslot.

If it does get a Sunday night timeslot I would think it would go to 10:00PM, not 8:00PM. But Monday night on NBC needs a new show, what with LAX having moved to Wednesday before it was canned, and The 25 Million Dollar Hoax tanking. There is a gap in the schedule after Las Vegas. A new drama could fit there, perhaps.

Sunday night would be problematic if American Dreams is still in the equation. Crossing Jordan does well enough on its own. So the question now is whether or not AD is going to get a pick-up for the rest of the season.

Judging by the latest ratings, I would say yes, we have our full season. But official confirmation is still to come.

I haven't 'officially' seen it on an NBC website, etc... but it is true that it was picked up for a 19 episode season. I got the news straight from the production office at American Dreams.

You heard it from them they got it straight from the NBC Production office.....Its been ordered for a full season Law and Order or whatever it is will no be taking its place....Sorry I'm going with ADFanclub on this I believe them. :)

What makes a "full season" then?

Last year we were cut to 15 or so. We all secretly worried that we would be cancelled.

Then Mr. Zucker comes out in late January and says he likes us and we are renewed.

I guess that means for an official 13, to be expanded and/or cut back to whatever number they wish come December, after November sweeps.

I always thought 22 or 23 episodes are a full season. I guess no one knows until all the dust settles.

A ful season order for any show is normally 22 episodes, sometimes networks might order more making 24 or so, but that's usually only if a show is doing great ratings :)

Well, Lola Dane has it right about current seasons being roughly for 22 episodes, with some being given orders for 24.

Full season orders are getting harder and harder to come by. Networks are fussy about committing to a full season order, even if they can stop production whenever they want. So they order a handful at a time, usually a half season order of 13 (despite the fact that a full season is no longer averaging 26 episodes).

I don't get why its such a big deal....I mean we have these great Drama's like American Dreams,The OC,North Shore,One Tree Hill and etecetra and great little comedies like The King of Queens and these sketch comedies like MADtv .

And the networks are so fussy about giving them a full order or bumping them when they do so great like Desperate Houswives but have no problem giving you untrue reality stuff like Survivor and The Bachelor and crap and making sick little reality cartoons like Drawn Together....Its annoying it angers me sorry....Mel :mad:

I write this at the risk of angering some here, but feel the need to go ahead.

IF our show was seen as "great" as some here seem to feel, then in my honest opinion WE WOULD HAVE A FULL SEASON OF 22 or more episodes. Especially during the FAMILY HOLIDAY SEASON.

Have we EVER had shows that run every Sunday from the end of November (Thanksgiving time) through the end of the year (Christmas time) and continue through the first of the year (New Year's Eve and day)?

I would think EVERY "great" family oriented show would run in these times. But maybe I'm "touched" by family shows in a way others aren't.

Wouldn't "Leave it to Beaver" have done this? "My Three Sons"? "The Courtship of Eddie's Father"?

Therefore, I feel NBC does not feel we are a "great" family show.

We can call ourselves a "great" family show when we are TREATED as such by NBC.

Anyway I forgot to mention in my above post.....If it wasn't for these great shows I listed and a few others I hadn't mentioned being on.....I'd never watch regular tv again because of these reality shows. Mel:)
