Do you know on Bravo's 100 Greatest TV characters of all time, that no one from this show made the list? Not even Florida Evans made the list. Very shocking to see no character from Good Times on that list.

Bravo sucks...

Their "100 scary moments in movies of all time" specials sucked too...

They had alot of B 80's movies that I've never heard of in my life.

I wouldn't depend on Bravo to tell me what the 100 greatest TV characters are. :o

I'm sure they did some shameless plugging with many NBC tv show characters.

JJ should've made that list! And I'm serious about that.

The reason why I say JJ, is because his term "Dy-NO-Mite" was a red hot catch phrase throughout the 70's. He was a big star.

J.J is not a unique character like James or Florida. He should be #234 of all time TV characters

James was rather ordinary. Maybe Florida when she was on Maude.

This doesn't surprise me that a network like Bravo would acknowledge a show like God Times. But what surprised me was last year, CBS at 75 didn't recognized Good Times for anything.

Didn't they show clips of Good Times on CBS at 75?

Yes they did. They showed a clip of the episode-"Florida's Protest" when Florida was putting the roast on the table

CBS made a special tribute to these sitcoms from the 70's except for GoodTimes

All in the Family
Maude
Jeffersons
Bob Newhart
Rhoda
One Day at a Time

So maybe that's the part of CBS at 75 Garfieldkool was talking about.

The only person who verbally mentioned Good Times was Deion Sanders.

i completely agree with the poster that made mention of at least JJ being on the list of tv characters. if not for the catchphrase of the 70s, then just for being a standout on a highly popular show across all demographics.

i would have liked to have seen james or florida but considering that they weren't consistent characters (both left at some point) maybe that pulled them out of the running. i don't know.

but i do disagree with the hate on bravo. i LOVE this network and A&E & AMC. i never watch standard broadcasting...nothing but pure crap on these days. i'd rather watch TVLand or NickatNite than another tired episode of The Apprentice. Hell, i'll even watch the Cartoon Network before i see donald trump and his crooked comb over.

I hope I did not offend you for not favoring Bravo, but I do agree with you on the standard network prgramming; and I would rather watch the Golf Network than watch Donald Trump anyday...

I think if anyone from Good Times should've been there it should be either JJ Jimmy Walker or Esther Rolle. Everyone in my family remembers them the most... before the dvd's came out I didn't even know John Amos was in it... I'd not seen Good Times or looked it up in 20 odd years though... and was surprised when I saw John in it!

ps: my Good Times season 3 was lost in the post, so I have to re-order it... can u believe the inefficient postal service around the world!

no, no, no...no offense taken. i just wish the old days of television would come back. it is sad when i'd rather watch some biopic on PBS vs something on one of the major networks. what will it take to bring television back like the old days?

I totally agree... I love my childhood tv... some sitcoms today are okay, it's the cartoons and kiddies programmes which are a complete disaster... no kids learn any good values anymore... GI Joe used to have their infomercials and Punky Brewster had her good advice... kids tv today is so trashy and it's making our kids delinquents! Oh I sound like my mum and I'm only 28... and male heh heh!

Well lets face it. All though all of us here obviously like Good Times, the show was really sort of a downer. I mean there were laughs to be had here and there, but for the most part the show always centered around the hardships of life in ghetto. I assume that might be part of the reason the show lacks the following so many of the other CBS shows of the 70s had, and therefore the reason it was left out of mention at the awards show.

James Graduates but can't find a job

My point exactly. There were rarely happy endings. The show does not stand the test of time. I love it anyway though, even if just for the theme song alone!

Here is a happy moment from each of the first 3 seasons

Season 1-Florida winning cleanest apt award

Season 2-James and Florida both enrolling in night school

Season 3-James and Florida spending a weekend in a cabin
