View Full Version : Ways you've changed over the time you've been here

what are some ways you've changed since you came here?

I changed quite a bit since I came. I mean, whenever I see my old posts my first reaction is "WTF was up with me when I posted that?". In my old posts, i'd always say something directed to the general crowd and I never quoted posts or answered directly. now i do that all the time. also, when I was newer I rarely ever spoke out. I'd just keep quiet and would not tell what I was thinking. Now i speak more what's on my mind and I'm not afraid to say it either. I've become much more independent and free speaking and I'm happier with it. and my typing has improved too.:D

what about you guys?

I'm less "hehehehehe" and spell correctly and...yeah, the saying what's on my mind more. If you want to see my first posts search AshLEE2938. Oddddddd. But that's okay, I'm still odd. Differently, but still odd.

when I was BeaverFan5, i tended to agree with every little thing, kind of to get peoples affection (why the heck i did that i don't know :grr:). i don't do that anymore.

I'll look back on some of my posts, and say "WTF was I thinkin'!" I'll even say that to myself a couple days after saying something. I also make use of the smilies a lot more. Especially the bananas..I don't think many of us truely appreciate the greatness of the banana smiley, along with its many brothers.

I guess I've changed in that way. I used to be very much anti-smiley, and for the first year or so I was here, I refused to use them. But then I crumbled.

Nobody can refuse the power of the smiley. Nobody.

Well...I Was 16 when i first came here, And Now I'm 18. So I Went from being a boy into a MAN. That enough change for ye?

I Think I've matured a little too. Not that i was ever hyper and posting 20 smileys in every one of my posts, But I'm a Little more laid back and get less excited by things.

I Also made the big Transition from being a "Happy Days Boarder" To Chit Chat Random this Summer. I Loved the time i had over there, But As much as i liked being part of something Special and Having our own chit chat and everything, I'm Happier just to fit in with everyone else now. Now i can be thought of as Chad rather than "One of those guys from the HD Board".

Oh boy, where to start. Well when I first came here, I was 12. 12! I was just finishing up 6th grade...and now I'm 15 (16 in a little less than 2 months) and in 10th grade...god I've been here forever. Anyways, back then...well I just cringe when I read some of my posts from back then. I was way too..I guess excitable. I was always like OMG!!!!!! REALLY?!?!?!?! LOL!!!! But I think a lot of people started out that way when they first got here too.

Hmm...when I first came here I used to write Three's Company fanfics. A lot a lot a lot of them...yeah uh don't do that anymore lol. I also used to be obsessed with The Facts of Life. Not that I hate the show now, its just that I'm not obsessed with it anymore because I haven't seen it since it left Nick at Nite.

I remember I was really impatient back then too. Like if I posted something and no one responded with in 2 hours I felt like no one cared/no one saw it so I'd respond again to bump it up, haha. I was such a weird kid back then...

I think I was happier. Even though I had it worse then, I had a positive outlook. Though I was a bit of bitch. Didn't complain so much about my problems like I do now, though I denied having them even. I said my OCD was cured, which it was not and never has been. I wanted to talk about some things but didn't want people to think I was crazy, so I'd talk about them as if the problems were gone. Now I'm fully crazy and I don't care what people think.

I didn't really hate myself then like I do now.

Look how many times I say "I". I need to get over myself. Woops, there I go again. And again.

Screw OCD! I wish there was like a magical pill that would make it all go away.

Have you tried Luvox? I think it was taken out of the United States a couple years ago (not for saftey reasons), but the generic is still available. What medications have you taken?

On the boards? The way I present myself has changed a lot (grammer, the way I speak). When I orginally started posting here I spoke and acted like a typical 12 year old... which is normal. Then I went into the phase of thinking I was really cool and better than everyone for a few months. Then I realized that most people were just ignoring me so I stopped caring about all that. Yep, thats about it.

In life so much has changed, and I'm not even going to get into all that.

I do that when I'm in the shower. I make sure the doors are locked and the window is closed like three times before I get in. Then when I'm washing my hair and close my eyes I get really nervous and get really panicy (sp?).

I've grown up...

That's the best way I can sum it all up. I was 12 when I first came here. Naive little Facts of Life obsessed 7th grader. And now...now I'm a naive little Ewan McGregor obsessed 10th grader, see the difference ;). No, but really, I was a reject when I came here. Seriously, on the social level I was at the bottom of the ladder. Now I'm moving up the ladder, I'm becoming more "social", I'm beginning to give a crap about things. I'm just...beginning to come into myself. And I mean, it's scary, when I came here all I cared about was The Facts of Life and stuff like that, and now, now I'm trying to get a part-time job, I'm in Driver's Ed, and I'm trying to deal with some tough honors classes.

I've grown up.

I've definitely changed a ton since I first came here. I was 11 and in 5th grade when I registered. I'm almost 15 and in 9th now. Egads, that seems so long ago.

I remember when I first joined, whenever I felt something was important I'd Type It Like This, Making Sure To Capitalize Every Word's First Letter. I stopped doing that within my first six months though.

I seem so annoying in my old posts. What I regret most, though, is the level of problem I would cause back then. I remember once or twice getting into fights with people just because they didn't like a show I did. O_o. How bizarre.

I used to post a ton on the TC fan fiction board. Never post there now. I did meet most of my best S.O. friends there though, so that was a good experience.

I suppose I'm not as happy as I was back when I first joined, but oh well. -_- Until like a year-and-a-half ago, I had battles with depression, but not any more, which is definitely a step in the right direction. *_*

I feel old when I go on SO. I mean, so many people that post here frequently now weren't around when I first joined. A ton of people from when I first joined are gone, and I barely post anymore. I remember when I posted like 1000 times in one month. And when I was #1 in the post totals. Woah. Now it's a miracle if I post 25 posts in one month.

We'll always be referred to as that. Though I still get 'HDM' a lot.
You'll always be the HDM ringleader to me, Miz Crystal. :D

I've been a member since my freshman year of college. Since then I've lived in three different countries, studied six languages, and had my entire outlook extremely broadened. And I can honestly say that some of the credit does belong to you guys. When I was nervous about applying for study abroad the first time, I got hundreds of messages telling me to go for it, and it'd all be fine. And it was probably one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.

Thanks to the politics board I became I a much more informed person, and I did become a better debator and decided to minor in political science. Also in the - oh God, almost four years - since I've been here I have been able to meet so many people from all over. I'm not gonna go all corny and mushy, but I do luv ya guys

oMFGrf i forgot, my age changed too. I was 13 when I came here and now I'm 15. And I remember how I was all psyched because I got a birthday thread and I figured no one even knew who I was yet.

Same here. And I remember when you were #1 posts. I think the highest I got was #3. Now I'm probably in the 30's or something.

I used to post a lot about John Larroquette, but I don't post about him as much.

Apparently, I registered 19 years ago today.... I was 17, going on 18, when I registered so obviously I've changed a lot. In that time I graduated high school and then got both Bachelor and Master degrees, stayed at a job for nearly a decade before getting a much better one, got into a serious relationship, bought a house, traveled a ton and unfortunately also experienced a lot of loss. There's been a lot of ups and downs and after all that time, SO is still around so that's awesome.

Am I more mature from my early 30s to my early 50s? Probably not.

When I joined I had dark brown hair, now I'm all gray.

We went from living in rentals to owning our own home. My daughter was a toddler when I joined, she's now in her early 20s.

In complete seriousness, I have really become highly skeptical of holistic and new-age medicine.

I used to have a closet fascination with it, wondering "gee could there be something interesting worth exploring?" whenever I would walk by the vitamin rack at the drug stores. Not any more.
