Well, time for another Motown 45th Anniversary Artists Avatar of the Week. Since my internet was not working over the last two weeks, I will have for you this week. This week will wrap it up with the Marvelettes. One of Motown's first super female group. The marvelettes consisted of Gladys Horton, Wanda Young and the other girl. The Marvelettes first hit was "Please Mr. Postman" and it was Motown's first #1 song in 1961 followed by "Playboy" and "Beechwood 4-5789". After many of these hits, Gladys Horton left the group. They continued to make hits like "Don't Mess With Bill", "Too Many Fish in the Sea", "The Hunter Gets Captured By the Game" and their last hit in the late 60's was "My Baby Must Be a Magician" featuring a stunning intro by the Temptations' barotone Melvin Franklin. The group finally disbanded in the early 70's and that concludes the Motown 45th Anniversary Artists Avatar of the Week. I've been through this avatar week for the last couple of months. I hope someday will be a better one.
