You should get 'the book' because Desi offers an 'splanation' for the title at the end

Everyone always thinks that Lucy had a fascinating life when they read her autobio but Desi's life was interesting too and his narration is different from Lucy's book. It feels as if you was sitting at the hacienda sipping on hot coffee while he sat next to you telling you the story of his life.

Thanks for telling me about it. It sounds really interesting! I am going to have to look for it on Ebay, the mall, anywhere to get it. In fact after I get done typing this I am going to go to Ebay and check it out. Did you say it is called "A Book" or "The Book"? Nevermind forgot to read the title to the post... "A Book" see how off I get LOL. Thanks again for telling me about it. It is on my MUST HAVE list. OOh speaking of Must have..I must have the new ILL pin, necklace(s), and Earring(s) they are so cute...and then season 3 is coming out on DVD sometime soon! I can not wait!

Vita_Girl,

I don't have much interest in the ILL necklace or earrings (LOL!), but this post inspired me to research Desi's book. I found out it is still in print. I just bought a copy from overstock.com for about $25, so if you see one listed on Ebay don't pay more than that for it, unless it was autographed by Desi!! Maybe you can hint about it to a friend or family member for a Christmas gift.

I can't wait to get my copy, and hope you get one soon too

I was never much of a fan of The Tonight Show, but I had a brother and a sister who were, and I remember that shortly after A Book came out, Desi Arnez was a guest there to talk about it. Johnny Carson's first question was, "Desi, couldn't you think of a title?" Desi replied, "It's got a title."

Then Desi picked up a pencil closeby and said, "What do you call this, Johnny?"

JC: "I call it a pencil."

DA: "Why?"

JC: "Because that's what it is."

Desi holds up the copy of his book and says, "Well, what is this?"

Audience laughs and applauds, Carson looks blank, then Desi says, "That's just plain old Cuban logic."

LOL. That dialogue is very similar to the one at the end of his book. Johnny Carson and Desi have an interesting history. Johnny had a radio show called "Your Tropical Trip," but had to step aside so that Desi could host it.

Desilu90,
