View Full Version : Anyone Else's Thanksgiving Suck?
Janet McFarland 11-25-2004, 10:18 PM My Thanksgiving sucked this year.. and I don't mean to be negative.. because I'm usually not. Yeah I bet everyone who sees this will get mad because its a ranting thread but I just have to let off some steam. Sorry guys.. ok so every year we always go to my aunt's house.. where it's my mom's sister, my 2 older cousins, my grandma, my aunt's boyfriend, and my family. Well every year my mom always complains on how we always have a bad time, but we always keep going every year. But this year was WAY worse. We got there, my aunt was in a bad mood, my aunt's boyfriend was pushy, and my 20-year-old cousin was in a political mood. You see, she goes to college in Massachusetts, which is obviously a democratic state, and she is against Bush. My family is for Bush, and my mom and dad didn't wanna talk politics with her, since they would fight, but yeah my cousin was just ranting on and on and she wouldn't stop. She was like brainwashed.. it was so f-ing freaky. So yeah my Thanksgiving just sucked.. sorry this was so long.. but I just had to let off some steam :p
Dutabi84 11-25-2004, 10:26 PM Ha, it almost got political at our T-Giving as well. My brother inlaw and his father inlaw got in a debate about political bias in the media..and I'll just leave it at that. ;)
ThirteenInchEscape 11-25-2004, 10:29 PM yeah, she's brainwashed.
Anyhow, thanksgiving blows, always has, always will, get over it.

It's good I'm not alone
Hollow 11-25-2004, 10:39 PM i started crying at dinner because i just got so depressed, my dad and my brother didn't notice though because i was quiet and they were busy examining the turkey and naming the anatomical parts. after i got done eating that **** i went to my room and turned the light off and listened to evanescence and came out a few hours later. i hate ****sgiving so damn much.
Kay Scarpetta 11-25-2004, 10:43 PM I spent half of it in my room. I just could not deal with my family.
PZelda 11-25-2004, 10:51 PM I suffered a horrible tragedy in my family on Sunday/Monday. This thing to close the horrible chapter of tragedy is tomorrow morning.
NOW try complaining to ME about your thanksgiving...
pna42 11-25-2004, 11:02 PM Did you know that the chunky chick in Evanesence can fit an entire turkey in her mouth? Her and Rueben Studdard should have an eating contest.
Janice 11-25-2004, 11:03 PM I shopped, cooked and cleaned for days, then spent all day serving everyone.....then cleaning up. It's like working a catering job. Holidays aren't too much fun for the hostess.

Cripes Janice. you are so obliging. I hope honey pie husband told you how much he appreciaties what you do. Probably not.
Brent88 11-25-2004, 11:18 PM Mine was pretty boring, not really sucky. My dad had to work, we went out to his place of work to eat lunch(that sucked). Then went to Wal-Mart(didn't suck, but our Wal-Mart's DVD section leaves a lot to be desired).

I know someone died from another post, who was it? If you don't want to tell us, I understand, but it's killing me.
pna42 11-25-2004, 11:21 PM Safety pin, you ever think about the clothes on your back and the food you put in your mouth and the roof you have over your head? No. You don't. You sit here and whine about how unhappy you are. So Thanksgiving stunk. Boo Freakin' hoo. Ever think about people who have NOTHING? You can sit in your room and listen to your CD's and think about how ''miserable'' you are. There are millions who would happily trade places with you.

TheGreatPretender 11-25-2004, 11:37 PM Yep, my thanksgiving pretty much sucked. My parents yelled at me and my brothers and sister picked on me and I watched the Christmas Story a movie that I usually liked and it got me depressed thinking how my christmas is gonna be just like my thanksgiving when my siblings come home, with my family leaving me out of everyhting. Oh, that concludes this recap. :)

That's why it's an open forum. To agree and disagree. I made fun of 1 tubby singer and I've set it off. I understand that right at this moment the tubby singer is cramming an entire pumpkin pie in her mouth AND wiping her mouth off with $100 bills that she made from whiny 16 year old girls who bought her bands CD.
Hey, at least Safety Pin has a sense of humor. That is the top of the line indication that she is rain on a sunny day. And I.... wana know, ...have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day.
pna42 11-25-2004, 11:39 PM PZelda, I'm very sorry for your loss.

You know WHY so many people are depressed today? We have so much, we can't find any happiness. We're in an age...where we're supposed to be sooo happy because we have sooo much, yet we're so depressed. More and more people every year. Proves the world will never be happy either way, really. It's sad. And that's why it pisses me off when people say we should be happy with all that we have.
Anyway...I like holidays because...I like my family. I really do. They're like the only people that like me and care about me and the only people I don't mind being around for a long time. I'm lucky for that, I guess.

I hardly think anyone here needs a lecture on how there are starving kids in Africa and such. Seriously, if we spent every waking hour thinking about how people all over have it worse, we'd go insane. People bitch and complain about their lives. It's coping.
Anyway, my Thanksgiving was fine.

Just because other people are worse off than her doesn't make what she has good. For example, if your boyfriend/girlfriend dumped you, should you not complain because other people can't even get one? If you have a painful infection, should you not complain because other people have cancer and diabetes? I swear, if you were in her place you'd take what you said back. You shouldn't pick on people when you don't know a damn thing about how they feel. Knowing that someone is worse off than you doesn't solve your problems. I hate that kind of mentality.

making fun of a singer you know is liked by someone just to piss them off is extremely immature. you said you were agreeing and disagreeing. well, picking on amy lee, especially when you know she has tons of fans here and you're just doing it to piss people off and get attention, isn't agreeing or disagreeing. It's being ignorant.

AllIWantIsYourClutch 11-26-2004, 11:21 AM Well let's see. My mom's side of the family all pretty much hate my mom..except for one of my aunts and my grandma, but they were in Iowa. He does appreciate all I do, and he helps in his own way. He did some shopping beforehand....liquor, turkey, all the heavy stuff. I like working solo in the kitchen anyway. I find anyone just gets in my way.
As for helping me clean up, he gets a big fat F. At that point, the only thing he's picking up is the remote if it falls on the floor. Can't miss a second of football. :)

Yeah. This person claims to be 44, and out of nowhere he rags on about how a singer i like is fat in a thanksgiving thread just for me to get pissed off so he can tell me it's his opinion. i really don't care if he or anyone else doesn't like her. i have my opinion and they have theirs. he needs to grow up.

Penny Lane 11-26-2004, 08:54 PM My Thanksgiving was great! My Mom hosted it as usual. Good food! I ate way too much as usual. But I want to interject here that I am so grateful that my dad was able to come to the table to eat with us. You see he is bedridden (cancer) and is totally dependant on my Mom(who takes sole care of him) with help from the family at times. But she insisted on doing her regular holiday thing and it was just terrific! Sadly, the doctors have given my dad 3-6 months . And there have been many times recently that we thought that he wouldn't make it this long.
If you could only see what she has to do for him everyday! He is pretty much like a baby and can do nothing for himself. That woman is a saint!:) She doesn't want him in a nursing home so this is her choice. He is 82 and Mom is 75. I am thankful for my parents . They are good people! And she is always right there if anyone needs help! :D

That sounds a lot like my grandparents. My grandfather is in his late 80s and suffers from Alzheimers. It's really bad, and unfortunatly my grandmother's health isn't that great either. He is in a home because she physically can't take care of him. For Thanksgiving, my grandmother and my uncle went and had dinner with him in the home. She visits him as often as she can.

So we spend holidays with dad's side. They're nice.

I'm sorry to hear about your father Marlene. Your parents sound like wonderful people. Your mother's devotion to her family, especially your father, is wonderful. The coming years are going to difficult on your entire family, and your mother will need her children more than ever.

Thanks Janice. I know that you have had your share of family heartaches and losses lately so I know that you really understand how it is! My family still gather every Sunday for dinner at my parents house. My dad really looks forward to seeing all of his grandchildren every week. And I am proud to say that all of my 6 brothers and sisters show up regularly with their families. Ha Ha my dad still calls me his baby! (shades of Delta Dawn?) But he has told me that he is ready to go and his faith in God is unwavering. Thank God that so far he is not in a lot of pain yet. I only hope and pray that he will not have to suffer!:(
My Mother, Father and I have decided that after eight years of going to my brother's house for Thanksgiving, we've had enough.
While visiting my sister's new house yesterday, I asked her if she could host Thanksgiving next year, but she said somethng like "that will never happen," or "in your dreams buttmunch," something like that, she mumbles a lot when I talk to her.
So it looks like I'm staying in New York next Thanksgiving!
Woo Hoo!
;)

Thanks. The funeral was at 10 this morning. I really can't believe my cousin is gone now. He was only 16. :( :(
How did he die?
*MIBabe03* 11-27-2004, 11:15 PM I had a great Thanksgiving! It was kind of hard because my parents and sister were away in another state. I went to my best friends house for dinner. They deep fried a turkey and it was delicious! I'm not normally one for cooking, but this year I made two things and they were a hit. I'm glad that people enjoyed them.

I can only hope that I could live up to my Mom. But I know that I never could! She is one of a kind! :) What an inspiration she would be to so many selfish /self centered people! They don't make 'em like this anymore! She is truly the ultimate Mom! Your mom sounds like a pretty awesome person, and I know how she feels, since I am taking care of my mother who is a stroke victim.

I only know too well how devastating a stroke can be! I can only wish you all the best and hopefully someday someone will allow stem cell research. So much could be accomplished !

Well, let me bring it back to its origins.;)
Mine really sucked! You know that Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons who said "Worst Episode Ever!"? Well, just substitute "Thanksgiving" for the word "Episode" and you'll know how my Thanksgiving went. And all because of one person: ...mother-in-law. Enough said!
