View Full Version : so who got the DVDs today?
slackermonkey 11-23-2004, 03:37 PM I'm surprised there isn't any talk about them!
I got my Re-Gift Set first thing when I woke up this morning, and walked off with the Best Buy bonus disc and TV on DVD magazine, too. I haven't watched it yet, and don't plan to until tonight, though.
Anyone else grab them?
barwars 11-23-2004, 06:05 PM well, you know.
But I'll have it first thing tomorrow morning!!
slackermonkey 11-23-2004, 06:43 PM Hah, good luck.
Seinatra 11-23-2004, 08:47 PM No one opened em up yet?
slackermonkey 11-23-2004, 09:17 PM I won't start watching mine until tonight.
I'm kind of scared to open it. The box is so nice and... untampered.
slackermonkey 11-23-2004, 09:22 PM For as much hype as these things have gotten, I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about these anywhere. Most of the other Seinfeld boards I've seen, the most that's mentioned is "OMG THE DVDS CAME OUT TODAY WHO ELSE GOT THEM???" You know, kind of like what I wrote when I started this thread, except... not annoying. :p
rusyd 11-23-2004, 10:09 PM I'm hoping someone who loves me will get it for me for X-mas. We'll see.
slackermonkey 11-23-2004, 10:32 PM I wouldn't have gotten mine at all if I hadn't convinced my dad to buy it for me as an early Christmas present.
Now I can use what little money I had saved up for Spider-Man 2.
slackermonkey 11-23-2004, 10:54 PM Haha true, but I figured more people would be having enough of an orgasm to come online and ramble about how excited they are that they got their copy.
Again... kind of like I did.
Dutabi84 11-24-2004, 12:52 AM Holy ****, I forgot today was the big day. I'll probably end up buying it for the mommy on Christmas. Then I'll just conveniently "borrow" it every so often.
Seinatra 11-24-2004, 01:05 AM I could tell you what would happen if I asked my dad for it, "What the hell do you want that for? It's on all the goddamn time, turn the TV on and you'll see it. Besides, you've seen em all 10 times already!" :D
and he is even a recent fan of the show.

You forgot??? What kind of fan are you? :p
slackermonkey 11-24-2004, 01:08 AM My dad loves the show, which is probably why he bought it for me in the first place.
Thankfully, he understands that syndication's a bitch and having the DVDs is so much better.

That is cool - but my dad is a lot older than yours - I doubt he can get the VCR runnin without my mom's help, and doesnt own a DVD player. Just plain Old School.
slackermonkey 11-24-2004, 01:48 AM My dad's in his mid 50s, yet he's the one who's more up-to-date on the new electronics and such than I am. It's a wacky world.
Maestro 11-24-2004, 07:21 PM I'm with rusyd & thinking maybe come Christmas...
Hey, I'm a huge fan & plan to get them, probably all [9 seasons] of them, I just don't have the urgency to go out drop a $C note for 3 short seasons, but I'll get them, they're not going anywhere. I know its prob about all the extras as much as the full episodes, but unlike the episodes, extras are usually only good for a viewing or 2.
This release is getting hyped pretty well & I'm seing stuff plastered all over for it. Stuff in the paper 'bout every day this week.
I was/am pretty excited to watch this show on Thursday evening. I think it is all from footage from the DVD stuff. Basically, the show Thu night is one big commercial for the DVD. I hope its more fun to watch than The Adventures of Superman. I'll get in a good mood and try not to watch it through a sein-cynical eye.
The got the season 1 and 2 DVD today. When I am done with that, I will get the season 3 DVD.
SPOILLER. In answer to my own question. They have both the Network and Syndicated version of "The Revenge." The Network version has Larry David providing the voice of Newman. The Syndicated version has Wayne Knight as the voice of Newman.
And the differences between the two versions of the pilot is just the background music and the Credits text. Other than that, it is the same episode.

That's kind of disappointing.
slackermonkey 11-24-2004, 10:12 PM I remember Seinfeld himself saying that the two pilots weren't very different, except one was the original airing and the other was the one used in syndication to match the others. It was just included for completion's sake.
Seinatra 11-24-2004, 10:23 PM Ok, I was thinking the other pilot was one that they shot, then decided to go a different way, and never aired it. I didn't know it was just one that was then lightly edited for syndication.
