View Full Version : Prince or Ashlee Simpson
vashti1999 11-23-2004, 01:36 AM Both are selections in the category of "Musician of The Year" in an Entertainment Weekly online poll. (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/poll/0,6115,767023_7_0_,00.html) The Best of 2004, it's an 11 question poll where you can vote for your favorites of the year, and yes, Ashlee Simpson is included in the musician category. She was in 7th place, leading Kanye West, Jay Z and Lil Jon after I voted. Usher was in first place with 20% and Prince was second with 17%, so I'm hoping to get some of you guys to give my idol a boost (performer and musician of the year). They didn't list Musicology among the albums, but AKA, you'll be glad to know Brian Wilson's Smile has a 30% to 15% edge over Usher's Confessions in that category. You have until December 15 to cast a vote.
MaryElizabeth 11-23-2004, 01:51 AM I find it really lame that they didn't list Musicology for Album of the Year and absolutely pitiful that Ashlee Simpson was in the musician of the year category. I thought you had to be or do certain things before you're considered a true musician.
OK, I'm done bitching.
Jrnygrl 11-23-2004, 01:58 AM Ashlee Simpson can only hope that her career goes as far as Prince. I don't get it with the music business, the less talent you have the more you are loved and considered to be a musical genius. ohno: ohno:

Dean Winchester 11-23-2004, 05:14 PM the thing with Ashlee that is pretty sad is... even AVRIL LAVIGNE calls her a poseur. If even Avril is questioning someones authenticity, you know you're pretty manufactured, lol

Oh, ****. I'm just going to let Vashti field this one.
crystals 11-23-2004, 06:56 PM I think Prince should be the musician of the year. I like a lot of his music. The '80s music and I like the song "Cinnamon Girl" from the Musicology album. I like Ashlee's music, too, but Prince has been around longer and I think he deserves to get an award for the album.

I don't think I even need to waste my time. I mean, he links to an Air Supply website in his sig. Air Supply!! Need I say more?
Yet what bothers me more is that he and I seem to be the only two here who like Creed. Go figure.

I cannot believe that Ashley Simpson is a part of the discussion. What in the hell is going on in the music bizz, and, more importantly, in the ear of the music fan? This is so otherworldly.

It's all because of the Entertainment Weekly poll. I know people may have problems with some of the other selections (like Lil' Jon) but it was just something about seeing Ashlee Simpson's name listed in the musician of the year category that stuck out like a sore, rotting, infected thumb. :)

would I expect anything else from someone who said Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" was the greatest album ever recorded?
