Barney Miller is the show most younger viewers should watch too, I've been watching that show since I Came to florida in 1985, The show has better characters, Strong Writing, And the pacing is high, The other shows today are pretty dispensible.

It was a super show. The interesting storylines continued for years like the ups and downs Harris experienced with his book being published and Officer Levitt hoping to get a chance to become a detective. It was different than most sitcoms in that none of the characters was dumb or lazy.

Hello All. It's so good to hear others who really appreciate the quality of Barney Miller, one of the best sitcoms (I hate to put it in that category) on TV, ever. The characters are well-rounded, developed-- like real people. They're not sketched too broadly (except, perhaps, Lt. Scanlon, as well as all the crazies that are hauled in each episode). You can tell the writers were intelligent, acerbic, educated, with a wonderful, subtle, sense of humor. The interaction among the detectives was always clever and amusing. And, oh yes, the acting was top-notch! I can't say enough good things about it. I watch it every night on TV Land! May it go on forever.

It is the one where a guy's wife reports him for selling their assets and converting the cash to gold?

Mikey, again you prove that great minds think alike. ;) Barney Miller is a show that just RULES!! The characters, actors, writers, etc. were all cream of the crop. I have quite a few episodes on DVD and never fail to laugh aloud. :rofl:
