Updated: 5:35 p.m. ET Nov. 21, 2004LOS ANGELES - A new video game to be released Monday allows players to simulate the assassination of President Kennedy.

The release of "JFK Reloaded" is timed to coincide with the 41st anniversary of Kennedy's murder in Dallas and was designed to demonstrate a lone gunman was able to kill the president.
"It is despicable," said David Smith, a spokesman for Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the late president's brother. He was informed of the game on Friday but declined further comment.
Kirk Ewing, managing director of the Scottish firm Traffic Games, which developed the game, said he understood some people would be horrified at the concept, but he insisted he and his team had nothing but respect for Kennedy and for history.
"We believe that the only thing we're exploiting is new technology," said Ewing, a former documentary filmmaker and senior executive with Scottish developer VIS, responsible for games like "State of Emergency." He said he sent Edward Kennedy a letter before the game's release.
Ewing said the game was designed to undermine the theory there was some shadowy plot behind the assassination. "We believe passionately there was no conspiracy," he said.
Oswald's perch recreated
Traffic Games said the objective was for a player to fire three shots at Kennedy's motorcade from assassin Lee Harvey Oswald's digitally recreated sixth-floor perch in the Texas School Book Depository.
Points are awarded or subtracted based on how accurately the shots match the official version of events as documented in by the Warren Commission, which investigated Kennedy's assassination.
Shooting the image of Kennedy in the right spots in the right sequence adds to the score, while "errors" like shooting first lady Jacqueline Kennedy lead to deductions.
Each shot can be replayed in slow motion, and the bullets can be tracked as they travel and pass through Kennedy's digitally recreated body. Players can choose to see blood by pressing a "blood effects" option.
Players can view the motorcade from a number of angles, including the perspective of filmmaker Abraham Zapruder and a view from the "grassy knoll" where some conspiracy theorists believe a second gunman was stationed.
The game will be available via download for $9.99.

ThirteenInchEscape 11-21-2004, 09:52 PM I saw a show on the discovery channel about the magic bullet that had it all recreated....and that got the point across that the magic bullet theory is definately possible (there are other non-sequitars besides the physics though)
I cant imagine what could be gained by playing it...
MandieR1980 11-21-2004, 09:54 PM I think that is very wrong and I hope someone from his family sues the company.

And the bullet all of the sudden shows up on a stretcher at Parkland Hospital in perfect condition?? Not gonna fly. They shot bullets into the wrist bones of cadavers that when examined the bullets were pretty damaged. The "magic bullet" entered and exited two people 5 times before showing up on a stretcher with no distress on it at all. And Kennedy was hit in the front of his head not the back like the Warren Commision would like everyone to believe. There was definately more than one shooter. If you study it hard I think that most people will come to that conclusion.

first of all.. i've been meaning to get this out for a while, and this is a good time to say that this board is the only place i have ever seen in my life that questions people when they find stuff like that funny. everyone i know does.
and when questioned, it makes it difficult to explain. the JFK thing wasn't funny, but the idea of making a fun video game about it is hilarious. cause like.. making a video game about it is totally the opposite of what normally should happen.
not that i’m directing this at anyone, but go ahead and attack me because i’ll just sit back and laugh at how much you care about other peoples opinions. don’t think I’m trying to starta fight either, because i’m not going to contribute to it. this board is too sensitive, which is why i’ve decided to start only posting on the chit chat main board occasionally. too many people piss me off here and my opinions cause too much controversy.
thank you. that is all. may the force be with you.

ThirteenInchEscape 11-22-2004, 04:00 PM Trust me, I didnt put a shred of belief into the magic bullet until I saw this, they shot one through a log and it went 41 centimeters in and was relatively perfect, but alot of other things is wrong, and they proved that the badge man wasnt on the grassy knoll (how do you spell that?), however, it failed to mention the ricochet bullet that hit someone in the tunnel, and the fact that he couldnt have shot that many bullets, there was a possibility someone was below the street shooting through the drain. Something was wrong, it's just hard to distinguish what.
The RFK assasination is actually more disturbing, since they claimed he shot 13 bullets out of an 8 bullet revolver, and he doesnt remember, it's believed that someone may have used MK-ULTRA on him, making him a Manchurian Candidate.
Zebra 3 11-22-2004, 04:14 PM I was born shortly before JFK's assasination and been a gamer since the beginning. I've played all kinds including M-rated ones, but I will never a play a game which I play Oswald. Here's the JFK game site: JFK Reload (http://www.jfkreloaded.net) and here's another online game of questionable taste: John Kerry's Silver Star (http://www.kumawar.com/Kerry/screenshots.php).

There is a book called The Killing Of A President that goes over all of the angles and senerios of how he was shot. The one from the drain to me is the most reasonable. Look at the Zapruder(?) film and you can see him going from front to back to the left after the shot. The grassy knoll shot would have beem more of a side shot. I've been to that area and the drain shot was the perfect shot. Pictures of him at the autopsy show a hole in the front of his head and a big exit wound the top and middle of the back of his head. To get to he drain you have to go on the other side of the triple overpass. Once inside you can look up and have a perfect shot because the car is on a downward slope. They even have witnesses that say they say Oswald eating lunch on a different floor at the time of the killing.

Seinatra 11-23-2004, 06:24 PM What a despicable game, right down to the bullseye on JFK's head logo. I guess when money is involved any class or taste is not to be expected. Anyway, a game where you continually shoot at one target, how entertaining can that be?
Also regarding the conspiracy theories, none of them seem to hold water. You usually have to put a bunch of them together to make a case. Just a couple of points that were mentioned on here before, I don't think the 'magic bullet' was pristine when recovered, and it was possible for Oswald to shoot and make it to the spot where he was first spotted by the officer.

That was just, shoot, rebolt and shoot again. That one fact shoots to hell the possibilty that Oswald was the "lone gunman". I don't know what water you are trying to hold but the Oswald did it alone theory is a bucket with a hole in it as big as the entire bottom of the bucket.
MaryElizabeth 11-23-2004, 11:00 PM First, they sensationalize war by putting out video games based on real war battles, now this? Is this what people live their lives for?

The bullet was found on Conallys stretcher(I think) in excellant condition. True Oswald could have run down to were the officer saw him after firing the rifle but he would have been out of breath. No one said anything about him looking winded. And kitt said it all when talking about getting off 3 shots in under 7 seconds(I think. Maybe 6).
Don Corleone 11-23-2004, 11:07 PM One more thing-if Oswald fired 3 shots, who fired the 4th that hit the one guy standing by the triple overpass???
This has been illustrated beautifully by other posters here, but I just want to state that I've seen the unedited Zapruder film and I concur there's no way there was one gunman.
And the fact that this video game exists is a ****ing outrage. The makers should be ashamed.

Seinatra 11-24-2004, 12:58 AM Again, the posters have listed some nice parts of the conspiracy theories, but none are true. The Zupruder film does not disprove a single shooter from the TSBD, in fact many conspirasists say the Zup film was tampered with by the government or whoever to prove the single gunman theory.
Not sure what 4th shot you are talking about, and there was up to 8 secs to fire three shots, depending on which one was the kill :( shot. Not all three were on target and there was enough time for thee shots to be fired.
See, eg.

http://jfkassassination.net/russ/jfkinfo/jfk8/mc.htm You are ignoring a simple point. This is not a "conspiracy theory". Shots were recorded and fired. There is no dispute about that. The rifle that Oswald used could not possibly have been fired as quickly in the amount of time that the scene happened, much less with deadly accurate aim.
I have always been and am still now sick of this being called a "conspiracy theory". It is just simple facts based on evidence. No conspiracy. A conspiracy is cooked up bull ****. Simple facts are what are injected into a case and then called at least reasonably conclusive. To have well reasoned facts based on well reasoned evidence be called the cartoon conspiracy theory has grown dustily old.
It is so past the time that anyone who is being honest or reasonably informed about Kennedy to stop calling nothing other than the lone gunman theory the correct theory.
They want to show off their technology? Fine.
But why use a real life tragedy for it?
If they wanted to create a game about shooting people in Dallas...well "Who Shot JR?" the video game would be at the top of my Christmas list...

The shots could have certainly been fired in the time frame involved, as the link indicates. This has never been disproven. It is a conspiracy because implicit in it is the fact that there was more than one person involved, therefore it was a combination between 2 or more people to commit an unlawful act, ie a conspiracy. A conspiracy is not necessarily cooked up crap, but in fact that is what most of the theories involving that fateful day turn out to be.
There is no well reasoned theory other than the lone nut theory that holds up to the light of reason or the facts.

There is no well reasoned theory other than the lone nut theory that holds up to the light of reason or the facts. I agree with you on the dictionary definition of 'conspiracy'. But in recent times anyone who looks for the facts is called a tinfoil hat person. That is why I said what I said.
I completely, completely, completly, tens and a hundred thousand times over disagree with your completely absurd assertion that the only right theory is the lone gunman theory. Is the earth flat? The "light of reason or the facts" dont hold up for **** with the one gunman theory. The light of reason and the facts do indeed hold up to other scenarios quite well.

Seinatra 11-24-2004, 10:48 PM Well I have not heard any facts that disprove the lone nut theory. Just some wild accusations that it "must" be false, for some unstated reason(s). There are many interesting and valid questions that can be asked of it, but none disprove or seriously challenge it. The only evidence that seemed to offer a contradiction was the audio recordings relied on by the House in their investigation, but I think that has been completely rebutted as well.

Are you hoping to make the SO boards free from people and statements that don't suit your self appointed top gun, all knowing and all right all of the time fantasy?
