What's the deal with the two female detectives? I've never seen an episode with them. Also, what's the story with Detective Dorsey? He's only in a few. Was he shot or something? Anyone have any info?

I haven't seen BM in years but did Dorsey have curley blond hair? If he's the character I'm thinking about, he was a plant to try to find out if anyone in the squad was dirty.

Don't remember who assigned him. He wasn't in too many eps.

If I have the right guy.

I have not seen every episode but I did see one where a new detective was assigned to the 12th. She gave Barney her transfer orders and Barney wasn't sure who or why this person was sent to him. He called Human Resources and was told that the new detective(I don't remember her character's name) was sent as a replacement for Detective Chano. Barney said he sent the request in 2 years ago. The husband of the new detective kept hanging around the squad room because he was certain the other detectives would try to be more than friends with her. After watching that episode the immpression was that she would be a permanent character but I never saw her again and never heard her mentioned ever again.

The detective who replaced Chano,-two years
after Barney put in the request-was Detective
Baptista, played by June Gable. I remember
seeing her in two episodes, although it might
be three.

Detective Dorsey-the guy with lots of curley
blond hair-was in about three episodes; then,
he was gone, with no mention as to where.
He was never referred to again. Someone
thought he might have been the detective
that was "planted" to find out if any of the
other detectives were on the take, but that
was someone else. I don't know the actor's
name, but I remember he was tall with dark
hair.

Dorsey shows up in episode 130; he believes
the men of the twelfth are on the take, and
it takes quite a bit of convincing to get him
to realize that he is mistaken. The guy that
was "planted" to find out if the detectives
were on the take was sent by Lieutenant
Scanlon of Internal Affairs.
