Janice 11-20-2004, 03:26 PM I've had my share of dumb incidents, yet one clearly comes to mind. I was about 19 and living with my parents. I was home alone and decided to cook french fries (the frozen kind). I put a good amount of oil in a frying pan and turned the gas on.
While waiting for the oil to heat up, I went in the livingroom and got caught up in a soap opera. I remembered and ran into the kitchen, and the flames were shooting into the air. Luckily, we had a fire extinquisher. My parents had to have repairs done.
Stupid move. :bonk:

Stupid move. :bonk: I had a friend who did the same thing when he was 17, except, he grabbed the pan and threw it outside....
....onto a pile of firewood stocked against the side of the house (he was never allowed to cook ANYTHING after that incident)
---------
silliest thing I ever did was at my brother's bachelor "pad" about 4 years ago - we were in town for the holidays, staying there while he crashed at his girlfriend's house place - robyn tried using the oven (which had NEVER been used before, because he's a BACHELOR - DUH) and black smoke started pouring out of it within a few minutes, setting off the smoke detector. Well, I shut off the oven and opened a window, and ran across the room and hopped up on a stool to yank the batteries outta the alarm....
problem was, it was a drumstool - the kind that swivels and throws you off of them when you run across the room & jump onto them. I landed on my side right on the legs, broke them AND 5 ribs. Robyn stood over me laughing for the next half-hour. :cuss:
-*Forever*- 11-20-2004, 05:00 PM This wasn't me, but my friend - I was at her house once when we were younger and we decided to make popcorn. She took the box out of the cupboard and put it in the microwave. I went, "What are you doing???" I told her she had to take the packet out of the box. So she did, and placed it in there. Slowly, I explained you also had to unwrap the plastic.
I'm trying to think of my stupidest moment.

LMAO! I think the dumbest thing I ever did was in the fifth grade. We were learning calligraphy and we were supposed to go home and have our parents burn the edges of the paper to make it look old. I tried to do it myself with a lighter. It started out okay, but it got out of control and I literally burned up my homework. Good thing I was standing over the sink at the time so I could put it out. I had my mom write a note to the teacher, letting her know that I indeed torched my homework.

Pitooey 11-20-2004, 09:50 PM Okay................. This was dumb. It's also a frying pan story.
When I was 15 years old I decided I wanted fried eggs. Well...............
The pan was on the burner and the pan had hot oil. "I" (Miss perfect and trying to be neat) cracked the egg and then I held it up in the air and plop............. Down it came and up the oil splatted right in my face...... HOT............ HOT HOT....... Luckily I don't have scars.....
P.S. - Don't try that at home.

MaryElizabeth 11-21-2004, 03:01 AM I've done a lot of dumb things.
When I was 11 or 12, I was wearing these flannel shorts and I climbed a tree at my neighbor's house. The branch that I climbed on, you could easily jump out of by holding onto a branch just about it, and then land safely on the ground. Well, I was about to slide out of the tree when *yeouch* I didn't go anywhere. The butt of my flannel shorts got hung up on a twig stub. It was really pointy. I was dangling in the air, from my shorts, with the world's worst wedgie. It was excruciating. All my friend could do was roll around on the ground, point her finger at me, and laugh. I got really mad and hysterical. I was finally able to get loose after 10 minutes, without her help.
I thought this whole situation was pretty stupid and embarrassing.
dawsongirl 11-21-2004, 03:59 AM I went to pick up a friend. We'll call her Sue. So I go into an apartment building and her apt. number and knock on the door. A lady answers and I ask for Sue and she tells me she went to eat ice cream with her dad. I thought that was odd, because she knew I was coming to pick her up. But I shruged it off and left. I get outside and there's Sue, waiting for me. I went to the wrong building. Yet, the apt. I went to had a girl with the same name. Very ironic.

ponytail 11-23-2004, 07:06 AM Years ago me and my mom were sitting in our family room. In front of us was the fireplace and above us was the ceiling fan. On the lamp table next to me was a old can of pepper spray. It had been sitting there for a few years. I said to my mom, "I wonder if this spray still works?". So I aimed it at the fireplace and spray did come out. I squirted the fireplace two or three times. Now the ceiling fan was on. I didn't think anything would happen. Seconds later my mom said her eyes were burning terrible. I thought she was kidding until my throat felt really funny. We both ran to the bathroom. She trying to wash the pepper spray out of her eyes and me trying to rinse the spray out of my mouth. I didn't realize the spray had hit the fan and blew it back at us.

Long ago when I was a wee lass, I took my sister's mase and test sprayed it outside. It was dark out, but I was sure I had it aimed away from my face. Well, I got it all over my face. I ran into the bathroom and soaked my face in the tub for a good hour.
~Teddybear~ 11-24-2004, 10:51 PM My 1st boyfriend came over when i was 13 years old. We were playing around, and he kept messing with me and I told his if he didn't stop, I would fart on him(i was ONLY 13). He didn't stop, so I farted on him on purpose. the embarrassing part was when it started to stink (my farts usually don't stink OK i know too much info)...
