I heard that in the first season before the theme song started, there was a bumper with them on the staircase with in color beneath it as well as before the commercial break. I wonder if these will be in the dvds as they weren't on the vhs releases they did.

I vaguely remember seeing this slide, probably either in primetime or early in syndication. I wouldn't expect to see it on the DVDs, since Paramount has been pretty bad about including extras on its DVDs. I'm sure cast members like Barry Williams and Susan Olsen would do great commentary if asked, but again that's another unlikely wish.

Those bumpers were on the Columbia House releases (which were authorized by Paramount), so who knows? They were included in the first syndication cycle as well, but Paramount trimmed the bumpers (as well as some scenes) out of the second syndication cycle to allow for more commerical time.

I'd like to see the "Brady Bunch will return in a moment" bumpers again, too, but I haven't seen those since the first syndication cycle (they weren't included on the VHS releases). Whichever kid was the focus of that week's episode got to do the voiceovers for those bumpers.

I haven't seen these episodes with the introduction "The Brady Bunch In Color" with the Bradys standing on the stairs since TBS had them over 20 years ago. ABC always had bumpers to certain shows which siginified that the shows were in color up until 1971. "That Girl","The Mod Squad",and the last season of "The Fugitive" used those "In Color" bumpers even in syndication.

If you go to Wendy Winans' super-groovy web site on everything Brady at www.bradyworld.com (http://www.bradyworld.com) you can actually see a midi with the staircase at the beginning. After logging onto her site, go to Episode Guide, then click on "The Brady Bunch (1969-1974)".

Here's a shortcut (http://www.bradyworld.com/episodes/guidet.htm).
