I have enjoyed watching Sanford and Son over the years but I feel it's very cruel and abusive for Fred to be calling Lamont a dummy all the time. Lamont is the sane prescence, trying to keep his father in check and yet he suffers from years of Fred's abusive treatment.

Lamont: He's called me a dummy every day of his life, except for the day he had laryngitis - and even then he wrote it on a piece of paper!!

Fred calling lamont a dummy is part of what made is so funny. Fred was a ignorant old man but if he was nice dont you guys think the show would suck. I mean common imagine fred being nice to his son. It would not be were it is at now as far as popularity.

It was a term of endearment... you big dummy :p

If anything, Lamont wasn't nice to Fred. Check out my post where I stated, "The Episodes Where I Really Hated Lamont."
