I'm DEFINITELY getting The Golden Girls. I've been anxiously looking foward to this release since they started releasing shows on DVD. And I'm gonna pick up the first season of Home Improvement as well.

Getting, but not right away:

just like Vashti was shocked that Aqua Teen was ahead of Pee-Wee for a point last week. I am jawdropped that Home Improvement and Boy Meets World have more votes than SEINFELD, only the most hyped and anticipated TV-DVD in history.

k, added a vote for Seinfeld, but it's on the backburner on my "to get" list

It's early. I'm sure when we 100% of the precincts reporting, Seinfield will have a mandate.

The Golden Girls and Home Improvement, but instead of buying those right away I'll be asking for them for Christmas.

I gave a vote to each of the four big name releases. Boy Meets World and Home Improvement, I feel I'll get those eventually, like in another 3 or 4......years. More immediately, I'll get Golden Girls and the non-gift Seinfeld.

I listed the two volumes (three seasons) as a combined choice separate from the gift set, and the individual volume releases just in case someone preferred say Season 3 over Seasons 1-2 (if that's what you meant.)

I was just thinking they could pick Seasons 1&2 or Season 3.


But what I don't understand is.... why would someone want to buy both volumes (on the same day).... and not get the boxset??

Do you mean that they're packaging all three seasons together aside from the gift set? I didn't know. I just thought it would be either the two individual releases or the gift set.

I don't think they are.... that was my point.

You could either choose:

OPTION ONE: Seinfeld - Seasons 1&2

OPTIOIN TWO: Seinfeld - Season 3

OPTION THREE: Seinfeld - ReGift Set

OR.... Options One and Two.
I don't understand why there is the option to pick them together, when you could just vote for both seperately.

I did it that way because I was interested in seeing that specific breakdown. Someone may say "the first two seasons sucked, so I'll start with season 3" So for that scenario, if there's a few people who feel that way, season 3 would get more votes than seasons 1-2. Having an option for season 1, 2 & 3 combined was done to see the difference between those who'd select that than the gift set. I just wanted to see how it all broke down. Consider it SO market research.

For the same reason some people would buy the standard edition of Freaks and Geeks over the Yearbook edition, it depends on your fan level.

There's no contest -- the Seinfeld Re-Gift Set. A true "Seinfeld" fan would never opt for the separate volumes.

Why so surprised? It's the individual volumes that are $39.99, not the gift set. $40 seems like a typical price, nothing amazingly cheap.

Prices aren't listed because of the "Minimum Advertised Price" that was mentioned in the press release announcing the sets.

They're probably something like $30 or $35.... but they can't put any price lower than $39.99 in a sales ad.

$79.99 is as cheap as the gift set can be advertised as.


I'll be getting the "big 4" releases Tuesday at Best Buy....

Both individual Volumes of Seinfeld are $29.99, I checked the website.

As for BMW Season 2, it's $35.99.... because Best Buy hates you.

Technically, Seinfeld is in the lead, adding up each variation of the release.

And vashti1999, it took me a while, but now I realize why you have the "Seinfeld (Season 1 & 2 & 3) (both standard versions)"

ummmmmmm... don't jump to assumptions. You apparantly aren't understanding what I was talking about.

There is a "minimum advertised price" on the Seinfeld sets, $39.99, if Best Buy and Target are not advertising it, it means they will be on sale for less than that, maybe $34.99, maybe $29.99 (which would be best, Golden Girls is retailing the same price and BB wants $29.99).

Considering I nowadays stick all of my DVD's in Fellowes cd folders since I have too many DVD's for my bookshelf now (Fellowes is better than Caselogic and the sort because the fabric they make is more sensitive to the discs), I see no need for the giftset because the box is going to go straight to my closet anyways once I take the discs out, and above that, I don't know the first thing about cards, so Seinfeld playing cards really is not a top priority.

I wasn't jumping to assumptions. I know about the MAP. It was late, so I misread your question and thought you were referring to the gift set being under $39.99 at Target/Best Buy rather than the volumes. Sleep deprivation kind of does that to you.

Home Improvement

I think if you're gonna get Seinfeld, buying the the two volumes is the way to go. I got each volume for roughly $30 apiece at Best Buy along with a bonus disc. That large pack seems superfluous, being about $20 extra for Seinfeld collectables like salt n' pepper shakers and copies of scripts. If you just want to see the episodes and the features, just stick to buying the two volumes.
